Next-Gen Console Game Prices Rising Estimates (70-80 bucks a game)

Game prices have stayed fairly steady for 20 years now effectivley becoming cheaper considering the inflation I can in fact remember back in the early 80s spending 70 bucks on a Commodore 64 game (Dr J vs Larry Bird) thats like a Hundred bucks now. With the introduction of 30 gigabyte disks games will no doubt be longer but I just dont see them using that much space in the near future unless they are gonna be throwing together something like the Mortal Combat Collectors, Madden C.E. edition or a Halo 2 C.E. Most of the games arent even using 2 Gigs now let alone 30.

What do you guys think about the increase in games for next gen consoles?
will it deter you from buying right away? Do you feel the extra money for games is justified?

id have to say quality over quantity, i dont care how many disks or gigs the game is, if the game rocks and is signifigantly better than whats out on current generations, i wouldnt complaim that much for dropping 60-70 bucks per game. id find a different hobby if games were 80 or higher cause buying 3 or 4 games shouldnt cost as much or more than the system itself.

I remember paying $70 for one of the Street Fighter 2 games that came out for the SNES.

But yeah, I'd still buy games at those prices. I mean I don't buy too many games now as it is unless it is something I know I'm going to be playing for a while like NCAA 2005, College Hoops, etc. If there is a price increase I would probably be even more picky about games I buy than I am now.

I think the market has pretty much been set at $50 max. I could be wrong, but I would be surprised if all of a sudden the new consoles came out and, boom, games are $75-80 bucks.

Were that to happen, though, I'm sure I would also be a little pickier about which games I buy.

I think $70-80 would be way to high for me. I probabily won't even buy a next gen console until a year or two after until the prices comes down like it did for PS2 and Xbox

Another Article over at IGN was talking about how it would be a 5-10 dollar increase on the price of games. Most likely $54.99. Considering they are usiing bigger media and what not, I can deal with that. Since some games are worth the price.

I know the hope is that it doens't get out of control. I hope game companies are smart enough too realize that having a major price hike would really hurt the industy. The Nintendo 64 with it's outrageos prices at $80 per game about killed the system.

                    I can deal with 54.99.

54.99 is no problem for me.

We'll just have to wait and see. The good thing about my family, is that my dad plays video games just as much as my brother or my sister, so I'm not going to have to buy the next-gen system myself, and he will most likely buy games for me when it first comes out.

I don't buy that many games as it is. It all depends on the price of the new consoles. If my monetary problems are over by then then i'll probably buy a launch system and buy a couple games. I don't buy that many games as it is. I'm mostly a renter then a buyer.
