Re: The Division 2
I'm still trying to adapt to the enemies in this game. The first game, they would just run for cover, hide, take shots at you, maybe two or three would leave cover and approach, but that was largely it. These ****ers in this game however, they will sprint at you, run all different directions and try to flank you. I've died a number of times because I'd be going up against 6 or 7 enemies, I'd be focusing on the rushers and the grenade launchers, and would lose track of one or two guys, only to find them nearby with a wide open angle at me or directly behind me. One time, I literally ended up surrounded. I had enemies on every side of me and behind me as they had managed to flank me. I was dead in seconds.
But I love it! These mobile enemies trying to flank me keep me on my toes in battles and make me take a moment to analyze the battleground. I take a moment to look at the layout of the map and different areas of cover, any potential routes of retreat if I get overwhelmed, best direction to even attack the enemies from (especially if I'm doing control points or skirmishes in the middle of the street). It's made me change up my strategies depending on where I'm fighting.

Re: The Division 2
So that pretty much kills matchmaking with randoms for me because I doubt many randoms are going to want to explore down alleys instead of fighting groups of enemies and doing missions.
I will run with groups if I have friends on. ODogg can testify to that, we were constantly in groups together in the first game, either ruling the Dark Zone or getting our asses handed to us on Challenging Difficulty in the Russian Consulate.
But when it comes to progressing through the story, I am extremely slow and methodical in my exploring between missions and points on the map. It can take me an hour to go 0.3km on the map from a safe house to a mission because I'm constantly stopping and exploring, checking out buildings or alleys I've never been down before, engaging a random group of enemies or a random activity (hostage rescue is always fun), etc.
So matchmaking with randoms or running with a group of friends through the game other than in missions, the dark zone or specific scenarios like control points or something, it likely wouldn't work because I'd want to to slowly explore while everyone else would want to go run off and do this activity or that mission.
If you are completely cool with spending literally hours doing nothing but exploring back alleys and random buildings for loot and goodies, occasional random activities like control points, public executions, etc, and MAYBE completing 1-3 missions/side missions in a real life 24 hour day, then by all means, let's team up and roll!
Otherwise, that's why I largely roll solo and only occasionally team up with friends and completely ignore teaming up with randoms. Also the reason why I largely play solo in other co-op games like Ghost Recon Wildlands and State of Decay.Last edited by Smooth Pancakes; 03-18-2019, 07:49 PM.Comment

Re: The Division 2
You have a piece of gear with the stats on it. You can reroll a stat so you choose which stat to alter, and then any piece of gear you have for that slot can be used to feed into it. It will show you what the stat changes will be for each one when you go over them in the menu.badComment

At level 20 and the enemies with shock ammo and the foam guys are my least favorite enemies as a solo player. Both cause me to leave cover for a short period of time which usually results in me dying

Re: The Division 2
Well.....pretty close to the end of the base game. 60 hours since last Thursday night but will take a three day break due to work. Already at level 30 but I noticed that you still gain XP, why is that? Doesn't the leveling end at 30?
I have the West Side and another district to complete along with one Dark Zone mission and the three Strongholds. Side missions are all done even though im expecting more to pop up since the completion list isn't at 100% yet. I have one story mission left on the map which won't equal 100% either but im guessing the Strongholds will add to it.
Game is excellent thus far with just a few minor gripes. Not a fan of the special ammo automatically inserted into the gun that you have equipped and if you die, you lose any ammo that you didn't use. Prefer the original game's setup where I can select it when I want to.
My biggest gripe is when in cover and you roll out of cover, my character will almost always stick to the closest cover instead of just standing up out of the roll. It's very annoying because I don't want my character to do that and it's cost me a bunch of lives.
Story is actually pretty good and way better than the first game. Love all the story missions and even side missions. The variety, locations and setup to it all is better than what I was expecting. The control points are fine but im not a fan of the random events like the Propaganda Speaker and a few others that just keep popping up as well as the question marks. Not a fan of randomly generated stuff in games. I prefer a set limit and that's it.
The settlements are cool but once you complete each one, a new set pops up with the exact same objectives over and over again. Not a fan of this at all. Collecting four SHD caches in every district and now, what appears to be a second run in the Campus settlement district is just too much.
Overall, looking like a 9.0/10 for me thus far barring some kind of disaster. Will jump back in Friday and once the world map changes over to the Black Tusk, I will probably play Sekiro and then go back once that game is done.Comment

Re: The Division 2
Yeah the enemies are great and keep you on your toes. The worse is being in the dark zone and clearing a landmark solo and all of a sudden a patrol with some yellow bar enemies walk in behind you. That's not so fun lol.

Only two things that stand out to me so far, as you said, the special ammo being automatically loaded and you're forced to use it immediately. I'd rather save those incendiary ammo rounds for the elite named boss at the end of the mission, not the crappy cannon fodder enemies I'm going to meet in the next room.
The other thing, I really wish they'd give us a flashlight. Maybe it's just me, but it can get ridiculously dark in this game in certain weather conditions, and trying to explore some unlit buildings inside at night is nearly impossible. It can even be hard to do so in some unlit buildings or in the sewers regardless of the time of day. And that's with default brightness settings. Maybe I just need to bump brightness up a level or two, but I'd rather just keep it as is and just have a flashlight on my shoulder or backpack strap that I can click on and off as needed.

Re: The Division 2
That part is still awaiting me! I'm only level 10 so far, and have only explored the White House, East Downtown and Federal Triangle districts, so I haven't discovered the joys of the shock ammo and foam guys yet. But I'm sure I will soon enough!
I really have no complaints about this, it's a massive improvement on the shortcomings of the first game, I absolutely loved the first game.

The Division 2
The dynamic events are great. It’s one of the things that takes this a step above the first game. The city feels alive. You don’t really have to worry about them except for what you have to do for projects. They are essentially optional and once you take a district they seem to happen less. They get even cooler once endgame hits imo.Comment

Re: The Division 2
One thing I really appreciate about this game that a lot of other service games so far haven't done for me is make all the loot I get, really crappy or not, feel valuable in some way.
In any other game it'd be immediate deconstruction or whatever when I get a crappy piece of loot but in D2 it's like welllll do I deconstruct this? Sell this? Do I need it for a project? Etc....
I mean I was excited to get a crappy pair of kneepads the other night because I needed it for a project lol.Patrick Mahomes > GodComment
