If you're not too concerned with graphics, Gothic 2 would be another one to look at. Not as pretty as Morrowind, and it was developed in Europe so there are some unintentionally funny mis-translations. However, it's incredibly deep.

I loved the Balder's Gate series. It was awesome. You could probably get it for $4.99 if you can find it.

Baldurs Gate II - The best RPG I've ever played. I had it on a laptop and took it with me everywhere (even work...shhhhh)

                Morrowind is great.

I also enjoyed Neverwinter Nights, although BGII was better. It might look a little dated, but the gameplay is what matters.

Agreed. Loved BGI and II and the expansion packs. I do still play NWN though and i think its better than the bg series just becuase of the plethora of mods and resources for the game;it has a TON more replayability because of all the user created mods and such, plus there are many persistent worlds that people have created. The NWN community is huge.

I did some research, and this guy had this website where he rated the best computer rpgs. He has Baldars gate 2 rated pretty high, but he voted planescape torment the best ever. I have never heard of this game. Also, he said that Ice wind dale was pretty good but was more fight driven where as BG2 is more story driven. He also said that Never winter nights ( I think that is the name of it) was pretty good. Well, I like a good story with my elves and orcs, this is why I liked Might and Magic 7 but I was wondering if there was something coming out, or something I missed in the past that I can pick up. Is BG2 a good story? and are there any elves, orcs, rangers, etc..in it? And what is up with Planescape?

Planescape: Torment is celebrated more for its story and dialogue than its gameplay. There's only one character choice, and he's not very customizable, either. I actually own it, but I've never been able to play through the whole thing.

BG2 would probably be the best choice for what you're looking for. You can get it and its expansion for less than $10.

The main character in Torment isn't customizable from the point of view of asthetics, but in terms how the attributes choices you make actually affect the options available to your character. Its more flexible then any other game. I maximized the wisdom and intelligence of my character and as a result was able to talk my way out of most situations including beating the last boss by getting him to destroy himself by using logic to show him a paradox about himself that he was unable to reconcile thus driving him mad. Others could have made a super strong character and won by brute force and power, but they wouldn't have had the dialogue options that I had available to me.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.
