    Re: Ghost Recon: BreakPoint

Skipped the betas, really didn't watch anyone play, missed much of the PR, went into this not knowing a whole lot other than some of the Division cracks on here.

My first impression - this is great.

Sure there are some Division feels (which isn't a negative to me), but also Just Cause, which is one of my favorite games ever all -- setup as a Ghost Recon game.

It's a more grounded Just Cause, with a legitimate loot/level/class mechanics. Really liking it based on first impressions.

      Re: Ghost Recon: BreakPoint

Gear score currently at 37. Weapons in the upper 30s. I have the torch breach kit, OMG is it fun to use. This game has some things going for it that Wildlands and The Divisions didn't have that I like.

      1. When you are in your biyvac you can shop. You don't have to go all the way back to the hide out. Also as long as you have the money for it, you can buy anything. I tend to buy a lot of C4, breach torch kits and mines.

      2. Silencers and sniper rifles are LEGIT. Sniper rifles are my most used weapon because they are legit. The breathing control is not as severe as it is in The Division 2. Stability in the sniper rifles and weapons in general is very good.

      3. The combat shotguns in this game are AWESOME. I didn't like the combat shotguns in The Division 2, thought they were weak and range was too short. Breakpoint, they do some damage and range is pretty decent.

      4. The weapon smith is easy to use and user friendly. It don't require an insane amount of materials to upgrade stuff, which is nice.

      Some hmmm things

      1. Weapons are cheap but the attachments aren't. Don't matter too much because you find a lot of weapons laying around anyway.

      2. You can discover pretty much a good chunk of the map at once simply by putting your drone in the air and do a 360 sweep. The range of discovery is too strong.

But anyway, I still haven't done any story missions other then the opening one. Did some more side missions and just been exploring, raiding camps and forts as I come across them. Got thermal and night vision goggles unlocked. Have a lot in the skill tree unlocked. Even the rocket launcher. Once you hit the mid 20s and above the AI get better. You definitely notice their aim at that level is greatly improved. Beware of the breachers AI, they rush you with their combat shotgun. Can't take too many hits from that.

Other then cutting fences with my torch, my highlight of the night was shooting a helicopter out of the sky, seeing it come crashing down and exploding into a fireball.

I got the Ultimate version of this on Xbox One X but haven't yet played it. I'm a huge fan of the Division and played the alpha of this as well as the beta so I"m very excited to try this tomorrow evening.

So I've been reading conflicts things, can we go thru the entire game with just 3 guns? Meaning one for each slot... Or should I be switching based on what I buy or pick up?

I would really love to find the guns that work best for me and stick with them.

Weapons and clothing items have a Gear level. So throughout the game you will constantly be coming across a higher gear score of the same weapon type, clothing type. The higher the gear score level, the higher it will cost. But you can find them out in the wild if you explore.

Like my assaault rifle is gear score 35, have a combat shotgun 39, a sniper rifle 39, m9 handgun 39, my hat is 38, vest 38, pants 38 and boots 38. You can carry a ton of weapons at once. With that being said make sure you constantly getting higher gear score items. A gear score 7 gun won't do crap against an enemy wearing a gear score 33 vest.

                Re: Ghost Recon: BreakPoint

Gear score 62 now, weapons in the 60s, clothes upper 50s. Unlocked the ability to use 2 perks at once. Unlocked the sync shot drones. Been doing side missions still because hey that is all I am coming across as I explore. Apparently the gear score go into the 200s because I came across some areas that said 200s recommended level. Ran into some heavies with the big rotating gun. Unlike the The Division 2 heavies with the same style of gun, these heavies armor is really thick. They do not go down as easy.

Sync shot drones aren't as easy to deploy since you need line of sight to deploy them and you can't use your drone to deploy them either. But they work good, especially on heavies. Currently they are the only way I know of to 1 shot kill heavies. Radio carrying enemies, OMG kill them first. I was at a base, killed a guy and he saw it, a swarm of enemy reinforcements came, like a good 20 of them and their automated mortars started firing on me, good lord.

This constant internet connection required bit me in the *** last night. I was in the middle of a mission near the end of it, Comcast internet went out. Game instantly stopped, kicked me right to the title screen. 10 seconds later internet came back and I had to do the entire mission over again. I was pissed. Having internet required to play a game is DUMB.

                  Hate to see it.

I'm going to give wildlands another playthrough.

There are some things in this game that are guy wrenchingly bad, some you just explained....makes no sense whatsoever

Damn, those bigger Locations are tough.

Maybe I was just being stupid.

You really need to take your time and scout with the drone very good on bigger locations. You do not want to get caught in a tight space when the whole base know you there. They swarm and swarm fast. That is what I learned anyway. Also sniper rifles have very long range in this game. Get up high some where and snipe away.

I clear out 97% of a base by doing that. If you can't get up high, then try to take out as many as you can from distance. I was across a long bridge on top of this rock face cliff last night. I was just sniping away. I was so far away they couldn't find me, all they knew was their friends were dropping dead. On another area, it was an ammo depot, I was across the river kneeling in the grass, did the same thing. They couldn't spot me.

And how I got them all to come out the little base was I landed my helicopter way too close, they saw it and came running towards. I ran straight across the river. It was night time too, so that helped. They were just blind firing in directions that they thought I was at.

do you know distances? like 300m, 400? etc? I know the last game topped out around 3 or 400 and after that the enemies wouldn't draw-in. Some people got another 100m or so by walking back scoped on an enemy.

I'd be really interested to know - cheers.
