re: Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4,PS5)

Played about a solid hour tonight. I am SO glad you can change difficulty anytime. I started with normal but switched to classic.

The graphics of this game are insane. If you ever played the original, this seems like it’s gonna be an absolute must. It is so awesome to see characters that we loved back in the day come to life visually and audio wise.

If you are a fan of the original or have never played, this is going to be one for the ages.

It's the little things man.....It's crazy how impressed I am that equipped materia actually shows up on the in-game character models/weapons (including different colors, if you have them).

The music, the attention to details in the graphics, and the new spin on some story events really does make it feel like a fresh, new experience. I'm still warming up to the battle system, but I definitely don't hate it. It's also got a bit of a learning curve to it, as I actually died once to the well-known first boss.

The original came out when I was in college and I just sat there with my jaw gaped open in awe.

They just did it to me again.....

          Just a few hours in...

          The beautiful graphics
The reimagining of the first encounter with Aerith
Being in the slums and looking up
          The music...man the music
          Seeing materia in the weapons
          The fresh take on combat

This is the game I needed right now. The newness mixed in with the nostalgia is indescribable.

Idk anything about FF and decided to buy this at the last minute because why not? I have no idea wtf is going on but it's definitely been fun so far.

Several chapters into the game and everything is excellent but holy hell, the camera during combat is horrible. It's never positioned or directed where I want it to be which is behind my character. Otherwise, it's all great. I do wish I could turn off the damage numbers though.

A couple of things that helped me out with this:

                  In settings:

Camera Distance in and out of battle: 2 or 3
                  Combo Targeting: Free
Camera Repositioning: On (Helps a lot especially with the fast combat)

re: Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4,PS5)

I'm about 12 hours in...really trying to savor the experience. On the original game, I can finish Midgar in like 6-7 hours (IIRC)...I'm at twice that already and I know I have a long way to go.

The thing that really impresses me is how well they've developed the story without changing the core story. It's like watching a "Director's Cut" of a movie you've watched 1000 times before for the very first time. It's this sense of "Oooohhh...THAT's why that happened...this makes sense" vs it feeling like they just threw on a ton of stuff.

The one thing I don't entirely love (unless I missed a setting somewhere - please tell me if I did) is that non user-controlled characters don't use spells unless you tell them to. I just find that constantly going into tactical mode when in the heat of close combat disrupts the flow a bit for me.

I also suck hardcore at blocking attacks

I have the distance set to 3 in every possible option and repositioning on. I was playing with targeting fixed and moved it to free but it's still bad. You have no idea how frustrating it is when im locked on to an enemy and running/dodging and instead of seeing the enemy, im seeing behind me instead as if the camera was the enemy. If it wasn't for the horrible camera during combat, game is an easy 9/10 but with this issue, it's more in the 8-8.5 range. I have a few other issues that also bring down the score for me but it's 90% the camera.

This is great news. While im actually getting better with switching and using magic during combat, the companion AI doing spells themselves is huge because they should be doing that on their own.

This game is an easy 9.5 for me knocking .5 off for ending WHEN it does. I love getting into the open world in the old one. Combat, music, and graphics are all top notch. I absolutely LOVE the combat I find it very fluid quickly swapping between characters.

Be careful playing other games guys, I seen 2 spoilers yesterday that luckily I already experienced already.

1 was in CoD Warzone, im guessing he named his Activision account it.

The other was in Rocket League.
