Re: Attention Nintendo fans! The Revolution is beginning!
I think Nintendo might be on to somthing with making the system so unique that games that were made for it can't be ported over to other systems.
Their system might offer somthing that developers can really take advantage of and just screw over Sony and Microsoft because they can't have the same. -

Re: Attention Nintendo fans! The Revolution is beginning!
Problem is, they will never get out of the number 3 spot with this philosophy. I assert that more people are loyal to GAMES than CONSOLES. Case in point, I bought a Dreamcast exclusively for Sega's new NFL2k. Then I bought an Xbox for the same reason. Then I will be buying an Xbox 2 for the same reason. (That is if Sega does the right thing and creates a generic Pro Football title for Xbox 2.)Comment

Re: Attention Nintendo fans! The Revolution is beginning!
I don't have a gamecube b/c I don't like the games on it too much and it's basically a stripped down xbox. But if they make it very different from the other two consoles then I'll probably end up picking it up. Different is always better IMO.My football alliances: E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles AND Hokie Hokie Hokie HiComment

I dont know why I like using this flop as an example. Anyway, I think Nintendo would be more successfull if they stayed out of the console market. Its impossible to be #1, fall to #3 then hop back up into #1 again. Sega swallowed its pride and discontinued the console business. I think Nintendo should follow. If time has taught us anything, its that it is'nt enough room for 3 consoles in this world. As crazy as it sounds, its true.
If you limit the number of consoles, that means ppl can buy both and play any and all games that devs make. Instead of having a rouge 3rd system that only complicates things.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Attention Nintendo fans! The Revolution is beginning!
Only thing I'd worry about for Nintendo is 3rd party games. It's my belief that solid 3rd party support can make or break a system. Playstation took off because of all the games available for it (some crap, some good, but they were there in a massive volume). If you look at the GC vs. Xbox or PS2 you see a disparity in number of games, the GC section of stores is always a lot smaller. I'd really worry about this if I were Nintendo. Sure, their in house guys can make killer games on this unique system, but how many other companies will want to devote the development resources to make a GC-only game when they could just put it out on PS3 and Xbox 2, same relative cost and 2 systems rather than 1.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Attention Nintendo fans! The Revolution is beginning!
I can't see how this will work.
Nintendo has very little support outside of their own and now they'll basically be forcing developers to only work exclusively with them?
It's no secret that Microsoft and Sony are the dominant parties in the console war right now and will continue to be so so long as they provide the best next-gen hardware and seemlingly unlimited third-party support.
How can Nintendo ever expect a developer to risk the chance of losing money and selling less units by being Nintendo exclusive? You are fighting with less buyers compared to Sony and Microsoft, and also fighting with less sales since you'd only have one console to sell to instead of two with Sony and Microsoft.
If this is indeed Nintendo's strategy than I'm guarenteeing that the Revolution will be the last console developed by Nintendo."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
