Numbers prove that if you make a game for two systems instead of one you'll make a whole lot more money.
Imagine how many copies Halo would have sold if it were also released on PS2? Now, the XBOX would probably sell less consoles, but we aren't talking about consoles here. We are talking about game developers. It hurts Bungie to not be able to sell Halo to PS2 fans. There is a reason why Rockstar worked around their exclusivity with Sony to get their GTA games on XBOX.
I doubt a good number of third party developers will risk dollars to work with Nintendo alone especially since Nintendo at the present moment is the number three console maker in the world."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Attention Nintendo fans! The Revolution is beginning!
I think we'll have to wait and see what this console can and will do. If it has some truly unique features about it, the support will be there. But if it's just like the competetions consoles but their slightly different than the support will not be there. But since I read this article I'm hooked on Nintendo. I hope Nintendo can take over the console market again.
I hope they release this console later then the PS3 & Xbox2. That way Nintendo can finetune the console and add enough features to make it unique.Comment

Re: Attention Nintendo fans! The Revolution is beginning!
As far as I'm concerned Nintendo should just go 3rd party for home consoles.
I have no idea who's brainchild it was to make the Gamecube purple with a handle. It seems like every interview with an Nintendo higher up since pre-release of the Cube talked about reaching out for more 3rd party support and mature games and things have gotten worse than the N64. When people talk about consoles it's just just Xbox and PS2. It's pretty bad when you let a first time console maker (Microsoft) come in and beat you in sales and image.
You have to look hard to find the GC section in my two closest EB's because the section is so small.
I was reading an article from planetgamecube.com about a Sega exec talking about the next round of consoles and he said he would let the small companies develop for Nintendo. I feel like 3rd party companies are already throwing in the towel for the next Nintendo system. I can't blame them because 3rd party sales on the Cube are dreadful. It's clear Cube owners mostly bought the system for Nintendo games.
Nintendo is so out of date with todays consumer. I remember at E3 2004, one of their execs said you will never see Mario shoot a hooker which was a shot at the GTA series. Well Nintendo could only dream of having a game/system seller like GTA.
I'm predicing the next Nintendo console will be a bigger flop than the GC and it will be their last home console.Comment

Re: Attention Nintendo fans! The Revolution is beginning!
I beleive this next console or whatever it's being called will definately make or break Nintendo. In my opinion Nintendo has far better games than Xbox & PS2. I don't think their doing as bad as people say they are. Cause in the last year some very great games have been getting released out of them. The XBOX and PS2 market are flooded with less than pleasing games.
Just because they have more games doesn't mean their better. Beleive me I know. I litterally spent the last 3-4 yearsplaying the GC, PS2 and XBOX. Going out and buying the latest and most hyped games. And I say by far, I enjoyed GC way better. XBOX and PS2 have those games that are fun to play for a few weeks. But they lose their replayibility after a little while to me.
I don't think Nintendo should lose their reputation as a family oriented console. Just to sale more violence based games. Bottom line, this next console will make or break them. But I for one am staying loyal to Nintendo.Comment
