    Re: 2020 Gaming Plans

2020 is not turning out to be a great gaming year for me. Maybe I'll finally tackle my steam library

    So far I've picked up:
    OOTP 21 (hardly played)
WWZ - played a couple of times.

    Definite purchases this year
    Cyberpunk 2077
    Ghost of Tshushima
    Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2

    Maybe Buys
    Outriders
    Psychonaughts 2
    Phantasy Star Online 2

      Re: 2020 Gaming Plans

I started the year off not sure how I would get everything played. A bright spot for the world being on hold for a few months and the winter time I've been playing a ton of games. My main fear now is cashing in on the $48,000 gamestop points I have and them having a used games sale.

      Playing Now
Control - I just started this last night and only played for a little bit. I'm worried about no difficulty level so hopefully its not to hard. I don't think its going to blow me away as I'm not feeling the story at first glance.

      Completed
Uncharted 4 (10 / 10) - My 2nd time playing this and first since launch I love the pacing its been a heck of a ride for Nathon. I was able to beat on hard which is a lot for me though I did cheat and pull out the RPG a lot. I even played the survivor mode which was a pretty easy way to get trophies. My all time favorite non sports series so what happens next will be interesting.

LOU Left Behind DLC (9/10) - Just finished this a few days and perfect timing with a few months in between replaying the main game and then 2nd one coming out. I wish more games did story DLC even if its short like this one. They do a better job with trophies then the original game. It helped to get reminded of her backstory.

GTA 5 (8.5 /10 - I had played part of it on the ps3 and finally got around to beating it on the ps4 and enjoyed it. I knocked it because I hated the flying and to many of the missions ending up with car chases. I got all the $ at the end, but at the point I was done with the game so didn't do me much good. I'm probably comparing it to RDR 2 which may not be fair.

Dark Pictures Man of Medan (6.5/10) - Its hard for me to play these types of games and not compare them to Detroit. I didn't like how you have like 2 seconds to hit the correct button and if you miss then someone dies. I had one section I replayed 4 or 5 times and still couldn't get the person to live. I also wish I would have turned the brightness up sooner so I knew where to walk. It was a solid story just the controls and how it decides who lives is a miss.

A Way Out - (7.5 /10) - I started this up a while back and when my cousin came over we picked it up and finished it. You definitely want to play this with someone you know and talk while playing. That will make up for the graphics and mediocre gameplay. The ending was awesome and its a unique co-op adventure.

NBA 2K20 (8/10) - I guess its time for me to put 2k here since I've not played it in a month which is rare as usual I play till late summer. I only did my career this year so when my buddies quit playing and I maxed my guy out with ratings and badges. Those combined with real basketball stopping made it a odd year for me with this game. I miss playing my league, but I'm worried for 2k21.

      Previous 2020 Completions
      Judgement (8 /10)
      God of War (8.5 /10)
      Ghostbusters Remaster (8 / 10)

Watchdogs 2 - Waiting to hear more about the 3rd one before I buy.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order - I don't know anything about star wars but it looks fun
AO Tennis 2 - I wish there was a demo for me to play
Dreams - Positive reviews I'm just not sure how I will play it.

I've checked off 3 games from the backlog and overall I've played just about everything in my collection. I will be going on vacation In late April so my goal now is to beat GTA and Uncharted 4 before I leave.

I have only spent like $40 on games over the last like 7 months. I'm now sitting on a lot of gamestop reward points and gift cards that I need to cash in. I'm going to sit on the those till my cruise unless a good sale comes along.

      Completed
Judgement (8 /10) - It was a solid title and just having English voice acting allowed me to finish the game over the other one I tried in the series. It s a story driven game so it was a good change of pace game. Its not in depth on the investigation side which wasn't a big deal for me. I liked the small map and not having to drive a car to get to the next place. A few negatives the main story is about 5 hours longer then it needs to be and I keep walking in the wrong direction.

God of War (8.5 /10) - In short I didn't enjoy this game as much as everyone and I knocked it because of the world / map. This also isn't my type of game with the setting and confusing upgrade/collectable system. I did love the gameplay and the characters especially the ax throwing. My expectations of this one were a lot higher then the other 2 so that likely plays a role.

Ghostbusters Remaster (8 / 10) - I was torn on 7.5 or 8 and went with a 8 because of the nostalgia with this being the last game like this we will ever get. The biggest knock is the cutscenes are still from last gen. The game was tough on normal luckily I found a workaround to finish it on easy. Its a shorter and linear game that didn't waste my time. The trophies were easy to get so I got 73% of them.

      Playing Now
NBA 2K20 - I haven't played this as much lately since I've got my player to 97 overall with maxed out badges. I need to start up a 2nd my player or dabble into my league.

GTA 5 - I just installed this one and it's my goal it to finish the campaign in March. I never finished it for some reason for the ps3.

      Want to Buy Soon
Control - Another shorter game and the price seems to be dropping.
The Outer Worlds - This could be one that takes a backseat
Watchdogs 2 - I gotta get this in before the 3rd one
Death Stranding - I've got to try this one out being a exclusive
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order - I don't know anything about star wars but it looks fun
AO Tennis 2 - I wish there was a demo for me to play
Dreams - Positive reviews with Mario being removed that worries me

      Pre Ordered
Last of Us 2 - I have this game penciled in for June and July

      Strongly Interested in
Cyberpunk 2077 - I'm hoping for a ps5 launch as I don't want to buy it in Sept.
Watch Dogs Legion - Looks like a launch ps5 is going to happen
Ghost of Tsushima - I'll be waiting for more news I like what I've seen so far.
Marvel Avengers - I still don't know what to make of this one
Maneater - The new IGN preview seemed positive hope its not to expensive.

      Realistic Backlog
Uncharted 4 - This is next up after GTA for me and my goal is to finish It by April. It will be my 2nd time playing it and my favorite franchise ever.

Last of us DLC - I will play this before the 2nd one is out after just finishing up the main game again.

Man of Medan - My cousin bought this so I will get to play it for free. Its a really short game so I can knock it out in a week.

Spiderman - One of my favs this gen and it deserves a 2nd play through on NG+
Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

        Re: 2020 Gaming Plans

The game I am waiting for is Cyberpunk.

Been mostly playing COD, and Division 2 Borderlanda 3 so far this year.

Otherwise, working through my backlog and Gamepass games with more time lately due to stay at home. In the middle of Far Cry 3 and Alien Isolation. Just started Two Point Hospital.

And due to no gym access I am playing Kinect fitness games on my 360.

I don't have plans to purchase any game in 2020, the only games I could be playing are League of Legends, Crowfall and Camelot Unchained.

              Re: 2020 Gaming Plans

You would think with the stay-at-home order I would have more time to work on my backlog but I’ve actually been busy with work and cycling a lot to get out of the house. I have picked up the Xbox PC Game Pass to play and finish The Outer Worlds but I haven’t made much dent in my backlist.

              2020 Wish List

              Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
              The Outer Wilds
              Disco Elysium
              Last of Us 2
              Cyberpunk 2077
              The Outer Worlds: Completed

              Games Finished in 2020

Days Gone (PS4 – Hard) – Complete: 100 per cent

Definitely one of the best games I’ve played on this generation. Outstanding story, characters and first rate writing and voice acting. Deacon St. John may be one of my favourite video game characters. Upgrading and using the motorcycle was a joy. My only complaint is that shooting people in the head gets a little boring after 50 hours. It’s a must buy if you have a PS4. (9 out of 10)

Outer Worlds (PC - Hard) – Complete: Level 30

A fun, very colourful RPG with a lot of dark humour about a corporate space colony gone awry. You are its potential saviour. I loved the fact that dialogue choices were meaningful and many of them could result in avoiding battles. There’s a good variety of interesting weapons and disintegrating monsters is always a fun time. The story really comes together late in the game and for some reason I wasn’t expecting that.
It definitely feels like a spirtual follow up to the Fallout games albeit on a different solar system. My only complaint is that it is kind of short when compared to epic RPG adventures like Fallout 3 and 4 or Skyrim. (9 out of 10)

Star Wars: Battlefront II (PS4 – Soldier Level) – Completed Single Player Main Campaign/Inferno; Multiplayer Level 10

I’m focusing my comments on the single player that I completed rather than the multiplayer which I’ve barely touched. Obviously, a game like this is more about the multiplayer rather than a single player story. The single player got a lot of good reviews but I just didn’t care for it too much. I did like how the story starts by picking up where one of the moves ends. Iden Versio is an interesting protagonist and the story isn’t terrible but progression is very linear and shooting storm troopers gets boring fast. I just prefer open world games. (6 out of 10)

              Backlog Monster (tm)

Made some progress but it’s a slow grind.

Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey: (PC -- Hard) – Level 9, 10 per cent completed..
Detroit: Become Human (PS4) – Completed Nine Chapters
Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition (PC -- Tactical) – Level 17
              Fallout 4 (PC -- Hard) -- Level 29
Far Cry 5 (PC) – 28 per cent completed
Jurasic World Evolution (PC) – Completed First Three Islands
Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PC – Hardcore Mode) -- Level 13
Mad Max (PS4) – 22 per cent, Wreckage Roller
              Metro Exodus (PS4 -- Hardcore)
Ni No Kung II: Revenant Kingdom (PS4) – Chapter Two
Steep (PS4) – Alps: 18 per cent completion. Fun but the PS3 level graphics are disappointing. (Free Game).
              Tyranny (PC -- Hard) – Level 6
              X-Com 2 (PC)
              Watch Dogs (PS4) – 25.4 per cent
Witness (PS4)– 316 panels solved, +13 (Free Game)
              Yakuza Kiwami (PS4 -- Normal) – 5.2 per cent

                  Re: 2020 Gaming Plans

Don't laugh, but I've really used the added downtime to dive back into the NES, SNES and Genesis. I've been able to complete three games since March:

                  • God of War (PS4)
                  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider
                  • Legend of Zelda (NES)

I had a real love-hate relationship with God of War. Initially didn't like it, especially compared to Red Dead and Spider-Man during the year they were released. I wanted to complete God of War to have a full opinion. I have a greater appreciation for it, especially the gameplay never stopping, but still prefer Red Dead and Spider-Man.

Either way, I'm content like I just had a full meal!
After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!

                      Re: 2020 Gaming Plans

2020 has started out very slow especially with all of the delays but the fall and next gen should make up for it.

                      CURRENTLY PLAYING
                      - Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (9.5/10. Replaying BF as I was in the mood to play AC and had the urge for some ship battles. Completed it back in 2013 on PS3 and later on 360. Was my current generation 2013 game of the year.)

                      2020 COMPLETED
                      - Metro Exodus: Sam's Story expansion (8.0/10. Story and characters is very well done and finally, the protagonist (Sam) actually has full voice acting which I hope 4A Games copies for Artyom in the next Metro game.)

                      - Darksiders Genesis (8.5/10. Great twin stick shooter with melee combat, puzzles and platforming. Good boss fights. Solid story. Beautiful visuals. Great music and voice acting.)

                      - The Division 2: Warlords of New York (8.5/10. Great expansion. Really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see what The Division 3 will be like on next generation hardware.)

                      - Remnant: From the Ashes (8.0/10. Finally officially completed the game as I was stuck near the end last summer when I first played it. Great game. Excellent boss fights. Beautiful visuals and art style. Excellent gunplay and shooting mechanics.)

                      - Resident Evil 3 (8.5/10. Gorgeous visuals. Good audio. Excellent gameplay and combat. Good story and characters. Enjoyed it despite never playing the original but REmake2 is still superior in my eyes.)

                      - Final Fantasy VII Remake (9.0/10. Stunning game. Excellent music, sound and voice acting. Excellent gameplay and combat system. Horrible camera during combat in my opinion though. Good story and excellent characters even though it gets confusing at the end. Never played the original or any FF game for that matter. Will definitely see future episodes through to completion.)

                      - Trials of Mana Remake (8.0/10. Good visuals. Solid music and audio. Really enjoyed the gameplay and combat. Good story and characters.)

                      - Streets of Rage 4 (8.0/10. Nice art style. Excellent music. Decent story and characters. Great gameplay and combat. Wish their was voice acting though. Is either my third best SOR game or tied with SOR 2 for second best. The original SOR remains the best game in the series for me.)

                      BACKLOG
                      - Red Dead Redemption 2

                      MAY
05/26 - Minecraft Dungeons (50/50 on this game. Depends on my mood and reviews.)

                      JUNE
06/16 - Desperados III (50/50. Depends on reviews since I am way more hyped for Gears Tactics on Xbox Series X later this year and Wasteland 3 in general.)

06/19 - The Last of Us Part II (Already know a lot of the game but still day one.)

                      JULY
07/17 - Ghost of Tsushima (Guaranteed day one. My second most anticipated title since E3 2018.)

                      AUGUST
08/28 - Mafia Remake (Date isn't official but im expecting it to be tomorrow. Never played the original and based on the screen shots, im all in.)

08/28 - Wasteland 3 (Would have played this day one if it didn't get delayed but now, will probably wait until I buy Xbox Series X to play it.)

                      SEPTEMBER
09/04 - The Avengers (Day one. Should be a great filler while waiting for the eventual Spider Man 2.)

Won't get into next gen games or current gen titles without a release date but as of now, I already have 30 "futurelog" games. 5 for current generation and 25 for next generation.

I have not really gotten any games this year but its not a big deal has my backlog is so darn big any way. I have just been working on some of my backlog/replaying games I have not played for a while. That will change though.

                          GOT can't wait for

                          Ps5 I am getting on day 1

                          Spiderman MM
                          Kena bridge of spirits

Those 2 will be day 1 on ps5 for me There are some other ps5 games I may get but they may be 2021. We don't know ratchet and clank release date yet.

I may also get the spongbob remake never played it before but have always loved that show.

MLB The Show 20 - historical rosters
NBA 2K11 - hardwood classic historical rosters
Zuma - xbox 360 marble shooting game that I'm stuck on a level I can't get past

                              Playing Now
                              TLOU 2

                              Completed
I'm not a negative guy when it comes to reviews if you pay attention to my other post your notice that. However it was a rough stretch for me as I waited till LOU to come out

Death Stranding (3/10) - This game simply isn't any fun and is the least fun I've had in a game. The story was so weird and long I just skipped the cutscenes even at the end of the game. I did manage to play 40 hours which is because I was home bored. I didn't play the creators other games so maybe he use to be a genius, but he isn't anymore. The game didn't need to be as long as it was with repetitive gameplay. They also gave you so many gadgets I lost track of them all.

Control (3.5/ 10) - Their decision to not have difficulty setting mixed with a horrible checkpoint system may have been the dumbest thing I've ever seen in a game. You might appeal to the hardcore crowd, but the average guy like me doesn't have the stick skills. I gave up even trying because on top of dying so much the checkpoint system brought me back a few minutes away. If they had just had 1 of the 2 I might could have finished the game because the gameplay was fun. Those two things combined were so mind blowing bad I'm happy the game didn't sell well. The fact that this game won so many game of the year awards is a crime.

Watch Dogs 2 (9/10) - On a brighter note I absolutely loved this game and it easily makes my top 10 this gen. The silly light hearted tone in this game was the right move from the 1st game while not going to far over the top. The gameplay was different enough and I liked the smaller map and being able to fast travel. I even got the platinum trophy which is rare for me. The story was good enough and I can't wait for the next one.

Tropico 6 (7.5/10) - I was planning on giving this a higher review however the last few missions got incredible tedious so I quit playing. I'm a massive fan of the Caribbean so I enjoyed that part of the game. It had been forever since I played this type of game and it was a good time killer. I just wish the last few missions were not so dang tough to finish. Overall I enjoyed my time with this one and it was good change of pace game that deep down I wanted to rate higher.

Batman Enemy Within (7/10) - This is the season 2 telltale and it was a solid game that killed a week of time at home. I picked it up cheap and quickly traded it back in to get a few bucks for.

                              Playing Now
Control - I just started this last night and only played for a little bit.

So far in 2020, I've picked up:

                                MLB The Show 20
                                The Witcher 3 (Switch)
                                RBI Baseball 20 (Switch)

Might get Animal Crossing, too, since I won't be leaving my house for the foreseeable future.

No plans to get PS5, Xbox Series X this year. I may get a newer version of the Switch, as my OG's battery life in handheld mode isn't very good.
I did get Animal Crossing, and a new Switch (went with the Lite and what a nice upgrade in terms of comfort). Still no plans to get a new console later this year.

                                Current plans:
                                -Finish Luigi's Mansion 3 (on Floor 13)
-Finish The Witcher 3 main story (I'm playing on Easy so I can focus on that story; I plan on revisiting the game later and diving into the sidequests)
-Continue to play Animal Crossing (looking forward to the next week's update to go swimming and diving!)

                                After I finish LM3 and TW3:
-Start Fire Emblem Three Houses (had a save file, but stopped after 10-15 hours, so will start from the beginning)
-Spend more time playing Super Mario Maker 2
-Dive into Super Mega Baseball 3

Have sports games on the PS4 and XB1, but honestly am a bit burned out on them, so taking a break and will revisit when the interest returns.
                                Currently Playing:
                                MLB The Show 25 (PS5)
