Are you using HGIG, DTM on/off?

I have Dynamic Tone Mapping on as im not a fan of HGIG because it darkens the game. I had this a year ago when playing AC Valhalla and it was too damn dark. I had to increase the brightness but once I switched to just DTM without HGIG, it was so much brighter that I was able to decrease the brightness back to 50.

Contrast is 100. OLED Light goes to 100 due to HDR. My default is 50 for non-HDR games. Brightness is 50. Sharpness is 0 as it makes games in general look worse. I have Dynamic Contrast set to high. I also use Warm2 as the color temperature.

I think it looks good but I haven’t been blown away by any PS5 game. Graphics are a little better and frame rate is good. This game is no exception. HZD on the PS4 Pro looked really nice and this is a bit of an improvement.

I am going slow. Doing a lot of side missions and farming stuff. Only level 11. So many weapon choices that I feel like I’m not sure what I should even be using sometimes. I do find myself using the traps and tripwires less in this game so far.

Edit: I should add that the low quality NPCs are what make the game look less impressive. Their details and animations are PS4. Plus almost all of them have similar body types. Kind of soft and lumpy lol.

Much better. I always thought this game looked washed and over blown in some areas during certain times of the day.

You play ratchet and clank rift apart? The graphics in that game below me away. With this game the animations and faces are really good but I do think there are some parts that look kind of PS4 like and I think it's the game being held back some by being cross gen. I am sure we will get a horizon 3 and it will look crazy but at the same time depending on how long that takes it could end up being like a cross gen game with ps6 in early days of ps6.

No. Never played Ratchet. Just not that interested.

So I ran into a glitch on a side mission. The robot I need to kill is inside of a mountain side. I heard of bugs like this, but this is my first time encountering it. Oh well I will just skip this one.

Level 34 now, I must say these missions be LONG. I wish there was a way to reset the skill tree. Aloy's I don't want to explain it to you attitude still annoys me though when she be talking to people. I did the Las Vegas area which was pretty cool. Now I can explore the waters now. Last mission I did was when you fight this giant bat looking robot.

Some of the NPC banter among themselves be funny. I was at one of these "farmer" people little camp and one of the kids was talking about leaving the tribe and being like the carja, exploring and stuff. This elder lady was like no and giving the kid all the reasons for not doing it. The kid replied what do you know, you just an old root. That banter made me laugh for several minutes.

I must say this game do have the sound of waterfalls pretty accurate. I know a lot of games with waterfalls in them don't sound like real life waterfalls. This game do good job with it to the point you can hear it and clearly know what it is before you make it to it. The physics of the waterfall is pretty good too, I was actually carried over the edge of one of them by the current when I tried to walk across it.

Funny because I also hit that mission last night, and yeah it's a long one! I think I'm probably 2/3 done with the story if I had to educated guess- and it still feels like I have a LOT to unpack within the world.

My favorite weapon is probably this special ropecaster I have. Can do regular ropes, electric ropes (very very effective) and frost cannisters. I get a machine tied down with shock, then light em up with tear arrows to get my resources, and finish with some explosive spikes to the weak spot. So fun!

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn 2 Forbidden West

37 hours played, level 25, finished 8 main, 14 side and 7 errands, 28.8% completion.

I don't do a lot of fast travel usually just walk or ride a charger most places. I do a lot of resource gathering and machine hunting. Also spend a bit of time in photo mode and playing machine strike.

Also like that even though the map is a condensed version of real world places you can sometimes identify exactly where you are. The game does a good job at making you feel like you really are crossing miles and miles of the west.

I love Zero Dawn, and from the hour I played Forbidden West at launch I know I’ll love this game too. I love Aloy and the universe these games live in. Having said that, I haven’t gone back to this game after my short time with it on launch day. I’m sooooooo burned out on open world games. Even as excited as I was for this to release, I just can’t play it right now. Anyone else ever feel like this?

I find having other games to play helps. Especially games that aren't story heavy. I usually only do one "Story" game at a time. Sometimes just having something different to play helps keep things fresh. Probably also why I don't binge watch tv shows. Sometimes your brain just needs to process things and think over it, which goes for anything in life really.

There is so much going on in the world of Horizon that gets told outside of the main story arc via data points and just the environment. It's nice to stop and play something less “intense" and let your brain wonder what's next or what something means in the bigger picture.

Same here. I can only go one non-sports game at a time.

About to finally finish Spiderman (never played it till this year) and Elden Ring is next.

I will be picking this one up too at some point. Loved HZD big time.

The skill tree is convoluted and filled with repeating upgrades and skills that seem to belong in other trees. Probably the worst RPG upgrade tree I’ve seen in years. And you can’t re-spec. Should have been a lot simpler.

Quite a few fixes, but this one is the best.
