So I was watching a couple videos about the differences in the houses.

Gryffindor has the most total quests, Ravenclaw has the fewest.

There is one specific mission (the Jackdaw mission) where the start of the quest is different based on the house you're in, but the end of it is the same across all four.

And playing as a Hufflepuff is the only way to see Azkaban.

Those are the only differences I've learned about.

Decided to jump in on PC despite the potential performance concerns. I haven't run into any problems yet, but I don't know if that's because of my hardware or I just haven't played enough (only about 3 hours so far). World is beautiful. I've recognized a few things from the movies, but I thought that sorting hat quiz would be more intricate or intensive.

It certainly seems they put a good amount of care and detail into the setting, anyway. I will say altering my voice pitch makes it sound a bit too much like it's run through a modulator, which it is, I guess, but kind of funny/awkward.

I wish there was more depth to certain things, though I kind of figured this is where sacrifices would be made.

To add to this, at least according to my buddy, you have to select the correct conversational choices to learn Avada Kedavra or you lose the chance to get it.

Yeah, I missed out on the first playthrough. I got the other 2 Unforgiveable Curses, but I picked the wrong response for AK.

And that's good to know about the trophy. That was my biggest concern and why I felt people should know.

Here is how:

FYI for everyone else, this contains a major LATE game spoiler, open at your own risk.

Once you meet Sebastian outside of the Feldcroft catacomb, he asks you about the killing curse. If you say "no one should know it" you still have a chance to learn it.

The next part of the storyline, you will meet Sebastian and Ominis in the Undercroft back at Hogwarts. During this scene, you will have the choice to turn Sebastian in. If you choose not to, at the end of his questline, he will remain in the Undercroft the rest of the game and can teach you any of the 3 unforgivable curses (crucio, imperio, and the killing curse).

But if you choose to turn him in, there is no opportunity.

Started this last week.

There is so much to do with this game, its insane. I honestly love it. Played it so much yesterday, I lost track of time. I finally got the broom which makes it so much easier to travel. Its also fun to fly haha.

Glad they took the time and effort with this game. You can definitely tell the detail they went in to this game, especially as someone who has seen the movies and read the books.

This is up there with Red Dead 2 for me, but it wont surpass it as #1. Red Dead 2 just has a special place up there.

Completed the main story yesterday. 60 hours or so total. 72% completion based on the Challenges menu. Really enjoyed the game and while it's a Ubisoft open world game, it hit different. It was simply refreshing. Just an excellent game overall and im still hoping for DLC later this year or early 2024. I know they said there's "no plans" but plans change and they still need to release the PS4/XBO (April) and Switch (July) versions so as of now, it makes sense but later this year, we'll see what happens.

Gameplay/Combat - 8.5/10
Story/Characters - 8.5/10
Overall - 9.0/10

Really enjoyed the game and while it's a Ubisoft open world game, it hit different. It was simply refreshing.

The reason why it hits different is because it's not a Ubisoft game...

My wife, who doesn't play games at all, is downstairs playing this and has been since about noon. She is a huge Harry Potter fan and immersed in the world in this game.

Now that I've gotten some time into a couple other playthroughs (started both a Gryffindor and a Slytherin), some of the gear itself has some minor cosmetic differences based on the house you're in.

Having a blast with this game, but my playing time is limited since both my kids also have their own characters.
