I pooed myself a little today when I watched the new trailer. I was 99% sure Daniel Radcliffe was narrating in the very beginning, but it was just my mind playing tricks on me.

Collector's Edition with a life-size wand floating over a spell book will run us $300. Looks like I'll be skipping that one for a couple of years.

That new trailer definitely got me hyped with the choice to cast dark magic.


I never buy collectors editions that are more than like 10 or 20 over base. 300 is insane, but my wife is a Harry Potter fanatic. I could see her really enjoying that book and floating wand. Might try to find that by itself so I don't drop 300 though lol

It was announced today that if you've gone through Pottermore, you can link your Pottermore account to your WB Games account right now, and when the game comes out your character will have the Pottermore stuff when you reach those points in the game.

For example, when I did the Pottermore stuff, I got sorted into Ravenclaw. The wand that 'chose' me was an elm wood, with a unicorn core.

Once I link the two accounts, as soon as I load up the game my character will automatically be sorted into Ravenclaw, and when I get to the wand portion I'll get the elm wand with a unicorn core.

You also get a special in-game robe, and an in-game mask. The robe is the one seen in the new virtual tours of the common rooms they posted on YouTube.

I wonder if patronuses will be in the game, and if that will carry over as well.

Loving a lot of the clips that have been coming out lately.

I kind of understand Quidditch not being in the game. It would probably take a lot to do it well. Hope we get a quidditch expansion pack though. Or maybe a separate Quidditch game with a full franchise mode

Loving a lot of the clips that have been coming out lately.

I can't wait to complain about how Franchise Mode never gets any improvements and that they only care about Quidditch Ultimate Team.

Is someone like myself going to enjoy this that literally has never seen one Harry Potter movie, book, clip, etc, and has no clue about the world? Or will I just be lost the whole time ?

Is someone like myself going to enjoy this that literally has never seen one Harry Potter movie, book, clip, etc, and has no clue about the world? Or will I just be lost the whole time ?

I feel like there is a lot that we still don't know about the game. That being said, I would not be surprised if half the fun in the game is just the nostalgia for those of us who grew up reading the books or even watching the movies. For instance, I don't know how "cool" non HP fans will find the common rooms for each of the Houses, but I'm looking forward to it.

That being said, if you like open world games with optional quests and dialog choices then this might be worth looking into. The game takes place like 100+ years before the events of the books and nothing from this time period has ever really been discussed in canon. So from that standpoint I don't know how much prior knowledge is required.

Yeah you'll miss out on the nostalgia factor, and won't fully get all the easter eggs that I assume will be included. Although I'm sure there will be tons of lore to read and learn about the in-game world as you play.

But like KSU said, it takes place 100 years before the books/movies. So THOSE characters and events you won't really need to know about.

If you like what you see in the trailers and gameplay videos, you could have fun with it.

If you are an open world, RPG fan that likes to explore, this is right up your alley.

No need to know the lore or anything.

I have only watched all the movies, never read the books (a tad too old…Lord of the Rings was my thing as a kid as well as playing Dungeon and Dragons).

This is right in my wheelhouse of open world RPG’s.
