Re: 2021 Gaming Plans
Quick question fellas.... Gonna pre-order my first game from Target, do I need to do the $10 shipping to get game on release date?
The free shipping option says I would receive after release date.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

Re: 2021 Gaming Plans
Finished since my last post
Nier Automata
After getting endings A, B (main) and G (surprise) at the beginning of the year, I went for the remaining main ones (C ,D, E) this time around and also got another surprise one along the way (P). Worth every penny. I love this game.
Killzone Shadow Fall
If Titanfall 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn ever had a child who unfortunately grew up being a rather annoying adult, this would have been it.
The game is a FPS with an abolutely fantastic level design (hence the comparison to Titanfall) and a graphics that feels like it would make even PS5 proud. Given that it was one of the first PS4 exclusives back in 2013, the graphics were mostly breathtaking. It was also developed by the same guys who then came up with Horizon Zero Dawn (hence the latter comparison), which was one of the main selling points when I first decided to get the game in the first place.
Unfortunately, the game also features a rather obnoxious, very user-unfriendly gunplay, which especially "shines" in situations when throngs of enemies are thrown at you at the same time. As a bonus, there is no auto-aim feature, which is death blow to anybody who is as clunky at the controls as I am.
So while the game has some serious potential of being a true hidden gem, and to its credit kept me coming back for more and see how it all plays out, it also frustrated the hell out of me and more often than not I was thisclose to rage quit, delete, and never come back.
The whole playthrough took me around 15-20 hours and I still died 100+ times even on the lowest difficulty.
The story is decent but since this is the fourth or maybe even fifth installment in the series which spans a decade or two, and I of course never played any of the previous ones, I never really got all that much invested in it. But it's good.
Overall, a bit of a disappointment of a game, which is a shame. But for anybody who thinks of himself as at least a decent FPS player, I would still cautiously recommend it.
End of year summary
Managed to finish a total of 11 games in the last 13 months (including HZD which I dove into last December), which I consider to be a miracle given that I do not really play all that much, and given that some of them were open worlds I spent 50, 60, 80 and even 110+ hours on (Nier, Outer Worlds, FC4 and HZD), taking my time and enjoying every second.
This was my first full year of an extensive non-sports gaming, and it was one hell of a ride. Very thankful to have this section (Non Sports Gaming forum) here on OS, too - it's been a great inspiration.
Happy gaming in 2022 to everyone!Last edited by Executor; 12-30-2021, 06:36 PM.Montreal Canadiens

Re: 2021 Gaming Plans
Finished two more games this month for a grand total of six games completed in 2021. Played a lot on the PS5 since picking it up in late November.
Games Acquired 2021
Forza Horizon 5 (PC Game Pass)
Age of Empire 4 (PC Game Pass). Barely touched.
Microsoft Flight Simulator (PC Game Pass)
Greedfall (PS4 – Hard) – Level 5
MLB The Show 21 (PS5) – Love Playing in Created Stadiums
NBA 2K22 (PS5) -- I'm a novice in this series.
Twelve Minutes (PC Game Pass): Completed
Hades (PC Game Pass)
The Ascent (PC Game Pass)
Foriza Horizon 5 (PC Game Pass)
Ori and the Blind Forest (PC Games Pass)
Games Finished in 2021
Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PC – Hardcore Mode) -- Level 19
Hardcore mode was punishing. No compass and no marker to show where I was on the game’s map. Spent hours simply lost. Couldn’t kill more than an enemy at a time because you start as a weak blacksmith. Lost hours of gameplay because I couldn’t save anywhere I wanted without a potion. Started with barely enough money to spend on an inn (where I could save a game) and I had to steal food from the inn cellars to survive. Couldn’t hunt much because I couldn’t aim a bow and arrow to save my life. Couldn’t read at the start so I couldn’t improve via skill books. I smelled in dirty clothes and people reminded me of that all the time.
Might have been the greatest game I ever played.
In a world where an Assassin Creed protagonist can kills thousands and many games deal with a post apocalypse future, riding through the beautiful forests and towns of 15th century Bohemia as a human being rather than a killing machine was a delight. I want the sequel now. (10 out of 10).
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (PS4/PS5 – Jedi Knight Difficulty)
Not a fan of Demon Souls gameplay. Took me hours of frustration to kill some of the bosses. Still I played the entire game on Jedi Master level until the final boss battle and had to lower the difficulty to Jedi Knight to get past it. I hate games where the final boss battle is out of whack with the other boss battles. I enjoyed the game for the most part and the combat outside of some of the boss battles was fun. It felt almost like an Uncharted game set in the Star Wars world. The worlds had some interesting maps and I liked how getting new skills opened up other parts of the map. Decent story with good characters. (8 out of 10)
Far Cry: New Dawn (PC – Hard) – Completed -- 100 per cent story done [8 out of 10]
Twelve Minutes (PC – Gamepass) – (7 out of 10)
Mad Max (PS4) – Completed -- 98 per cent completed, Legend Rank: Road Warrior Level 178 (9 out of 10)
Jurasic World Evolution (PC) – Completed – Five Stars on All Islands, All Mission. (9 out of 10)
DLC Finished in 2021
Dragon Age Inquisition DLC (PC -- Normal) – Jaws of Hakkon – Level 26 (6 out of 10)
Backlog Monster (tm)
Keeps growing and growing ...
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey: (PC -- Hard) – Level 33, 28 per cent completed
Cyberpunk 2077 (PC Stadia – High) – Level 14. Couldn’t play in 4k so I stopped playing.
Detroit: Become Human (PS4) – Completed Chapter: Waiting for Hank
Divinity: Original Sin 2 (PC) – Level 2
Fallout 4 (PC -- Hard) -- Level 47. I said I was going to complete this in 2021. I failed
Greedfall (PS4 – Hard) – Level 5
Hitman (PS4) – Training Mission Complete
Last of Us 2 (PS5/PS4 – Hard)
Metro Exodus (PS5/PS4 -- Hardcore) – The Volga Chapter
Ni No Kung II: Revenant Kingdom (PS4) – Chapter Two
Tyranny (PC -- Hard) – Level 6
Vampyr (PS4 – Hard) – Chapter 2, Level 5
Watch Dogs (PS4 -- Hard) – 65.0 per cent, Level 33. Really enjoying this when I play it.
Yakuza Kiwami (PS4 -- Normal) – 11.98 per cent
The Outer Wilds (PC)
X-Com 2 (PC)
Journey (PS4)
Steep (PS4) – Alps: 18 per cent completion. Fun but the PS3 level graphics are disappointing. (Free Game).
Witness (PS4)– 316 panels solved, +13 (Free Game)
Sports Backlog
FIFA 20 (PS4) – Fulham (9-1-1)
FIFA 19 (PS4) – PSG (Second Season -- 4-0, Won SuperCup)
MLB 21 (PS5) – Toronto (3-8), Buffalo (2-4). I'm patient but it doesn't matter. Still can't get key hits
MLB 20 (PS4) – Montreal (14-5)
MLB 19 (PS4) – Milwaukee (24-27)
MLB 17 (PS4) – NY Mets (7-13)
MLB 16 (PS4) – Toronto (44-36)
MLB 15 (PS4) --Washington (39-41)
MLB 14 (PS3) -- Los Angeles (25-14)
(I Play on All-Star level, every pitch)
NBA 2K22 (PS5) – My Player Level 1
NHL 19 (PS4) – Toronto (1-7). I'm simply awful.Last edited by bhurst99; 01-01-2022, 07:24 PM.Comment
