Whenever the next Battlefield game comes out - whether that's 3 years from now, 5, or 10 because this franchise just got nuked - they should give free copies of the new game to whoever bought Battlefield 2042 at full price

I can’t even find a game . Nothing shows up in the browser. It’s blank. I connect to conquest and then it says I’m the only one in the server and it’s waiting for 31 players to join. On Xbox series x. Been like this for a few days. I also have cross play on too. Anyone else gettin this?

The game is a turd, time for everyone to move on, DICE included. I think the franchise can still recover, but the next one has to be good on day one.

This is what was said when V launched. They salvaged that game, but it also had a decent foundation that was able to be seen at launch. I'm not sure that is the case here, and I'm not sure how much faith people have in DICE anymore, though I wouldn't be surprised if everyone got hyped the second a trailer was released and EA/Dice hit all the right talking points like they did with 2042.

The only reason they are even working on it is to prevent investors from taking them to court over it. They promised x amount of seasons and even if there's 1 map and 4 guns they are going to deliver it. I still don't understand why they thought they had to go reinvent the wheel. BFV's core gameplay was really good.. just lacked content. One of DICE's biggest flaws is ignoring the community that got them where they are. When everyone goes to the newest COD the same people stick around.. now they have managed to even run all of those people off.

I downloaded the game to try the new map. The map itself is okay but engagement distance, specialists, gun mechanics, lack of weapon variety, etc. still make it frustrating to play. If the core game is bad then there's nothing that can really be done to salvage the game.

I saw that going forward all content will be for 64 players. I don't know if that's because they finally got the memo that 128 is a bad idea or because the player base is non existent and people are having to play with bots.

There's been a lot of turnover since this game launched. I don't know what direction they go next but seeing them painfully drag this out for the next 3 years is going to be rough. I hate that the game sucks because I'm not a fan of COD multiplayer and I don't like battle royale games.

64 should have been the standard all along. EA had plenty of internal tests that showed 128 did not work like they wanted it to. You can't take Battlefield maps and just double their size and the player count. There's more than that that goes into game design and they ignored their internal tests and went with 128 and gigantic maps anyways.

Yea if I get the BF itch I'm just going to download BF4, BF1, BFV or Battlefront 2 instead of 2042. Wish I could get my money back lol

There's no way they make the same type of recovery with 2042 that they did with Battlefront 2 and BFV - it's almost like they were counting on being able to do that again and everybody being okay with it

I just wanna know what the hell they were doing during the what, 3 or 4 years that this game was in development? There is such little content here and the gameplay is a complete shell of what BF used to be which is a shame

There are 2 places to switch to cross play. One in the Xbox settings. ( Google it) and one in game . Turn both on and you will find games. Worked for me

Anyone playing this now that it's on Game Pass? I installed it last night and tried to find a game at about 1am and I couldn't find a single game with real people.

Not sure if I was doing something wrong. But even at 1am EST. Damn man. No one? I don't think it's that bad.

Yesterday David Sirland (aka tiggr_) announced he is returning to DICE as the lead producer for Battlefield. That may be the single best piece of news I have heard in a long time and gives me just a little hope the next game will be a little more grounded in Battlefield style and be better.

Very underwhelming. I used to put crazy hours into previous Battlefield titles. But this one is terrible.

There’s a lot of good visually and haptics-wise.

But the logic of the gameplay is horrible.

Tried Team Deathmatch a few times. It’s basically a snipe-fest.

2042 is what happens when you survey your fanbase and then do the opposite of what each answer was.

EA actively made decisions that were against what the series was known for. At least with V they just made some silly decisions early on they corrected eventually. With 2042 they just made a terrible game that is Battlefield in name only.

Honestly, I personally only do:

Portal => Browse server => conquest => and look for the JTF server or something like it. 64 players is the optimum for this game. 128 feels like I can’t go anywhere without getting shot asap and the vehicles are always being used by everyone.

I just want an updated BF4 - it really shows its age now, but the gameplay is just better. 1 was alright, then 5 was meh and now this newest one is trash! like wtf happened!? lol

BFV environmental visuals, minimal UI, player movement
BF4 weapon variety, weapon mechanics including TTK and land/air/water vehicles
BF3 maps and content (available via Live Service now)
BF1 atmosphere and modes (conquest, multiple map operations, rush/breakthrough)

= Game of the Year
