They probably should have skipped on Hazard Zone and really any other game mode until the base game mode provides a good Battlefield experience.Last edited by AUChase; 10-15-2021, 08:58 AM.Comment

Some new Portal details.
I'm still concerned about some of the gimmick perks for Specialists but Portal mode may help me get over any concerns with the main 2042 experience.
I didn't learn my lesson from the BFV and paid for the second tier version and I'm burning a vacation day on the 12th to play Early Access.Comment

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
Portal is likely where I'll spend the majority of my time over the long run. The more I see of the specialists, the less I like. I particularly didn't care for the ones we had in the beta. I simply want classic classes back.
I'm assuming there is a good chance there will be a number of popular servers that simply use the Portal to have the BF 2042 experience except they just replace the 2042 factions with BF3 factions which will be fine with me.
I'm excited to see what all servers are created. I'd love one to have a rotation of each of the classics along with what I just described above. Having one match be in WWII then the next be a BC2 map with BC2 movement and no prone, then the next match being 2042 without specialists sounds fun to me, but I'm sure the average person probably wants a server to stick with one theme.

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
The game is very fun, so far.
I think Portals is where I am going to be at almost this entire life cycle of 2042, basically just due to how huge the 2042 maps are. Takes forever to finally find someone, shoot your shot, get shot in the back and restart... Irritating and fun all combined, lol.
Overall with just 2 and a half hours of game time, I'm at a 8.5/10 for it.
Visuals are amazing. Sounds are great. Guns are fun for me. Portals is something that was dreamed of, and now actually in a game for us to enjoy and create.

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
After suffering through some Vanguard games I have never been more ready for a Battlefield game to launch.
Game is installed and I am ready to get to work.

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
FYI:
EA Play members have access to a 10 hour trial right now. I've pre-loaded the game but assuming I have time I'm going to go ahead and dive in some tonight. I've been watching some of my friends stream.
Portal may be the savior of the game. To be honest a lot of the base game footage I've seen looks kind of boring. There's some very long engagement distances with nothing in between for cover.
My friend streamed some Valparaiso Rush from Bad Company 2 and that map has more detail than some of the new maps. That may be what I look forward to playing the most but I'll try everything.Comment

Why the need to overcomplicate adding attachments to weapons? **** is confusing. Or maybe I’m just an idiot.

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
I played some conquest last night and it was alright -- not great, not bad, but with new maps that are much bigger I felt I was lost most of the time. Had some good play but generally just alright. Played a portal match that was a fun nostalgia rush trip.
Played 4 games of Breakthrough on the new maps today and damn if that isn't the best way to play BF now. I am learning the specialists and all the different systems and everything but just trying to revive/heal/re-supply as much as I can while I learn.Comment

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
The A & D spam from MNK users on PC is rough. My biggest fear with this game launching with issues is it's going to kill the player base and everyone will be forced to play with crossplay on in the 128 player modes to keep from playing against a bunch of AI. If the final build is anything like this one then there's a big advantage for PC players even with assist on console. Any time I get dunked on it's always a PC guy and it's not always a skill gap issue. Console is going to run 60 while PC will be 120 with a real latency advantage.
I'm also hoping for some legacy controls for vehicles. I can barely fly a helicopter now but I'm trying to get used to it anyways. A lot of the times I'm just out of control aiming like garbage lol.

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
Would love to play the game, but in typical Battlefield fashion I can't get into a game because of server issues on their end. Of course the one game I get into I bug out and have no control of my character as he sprints around the map, then pulls out a frag and stares into the sky. I never died at least, but I spent the entire time just running with literally zero ability to do anything in the game. I couldn't even bring up the pause menu.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Try turning cross play off for nowComment

I had seen that and tried that. It changed nothing. I finally was able to get some games in eventually. The game has terrible performance it seems and the settings don't really change that.
Neither Low or Ultra are doing better than 50- 60fps at 1440p with a 10700k, 32gb RAM, and a 3080.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”
