Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
Hopefully it's not a big deal but EA has I think every in-house development studio working on this game. The fact it's delayed, with the amount of resources devoted to it, is a bit disconcerting (IMO).Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
Was kinda just "reminiscing" just now.. lol
Come along for storytime with Magic y'all...
One of my most enjoyable/memorable moments I can remember is a game we had a bunch of OSers on at once on BF3
This was PEAK OS! So the forums were BUSY busy and battlefield on here was a very active community.
This is back on PS3. So games were only 12 v 12 which is funny to think about now
Being the troll that I was (am? [emoji2377][emoji23]), I was the resident tag taker. But only had a few tags from OSers because generally we were always squadded up together. Yes I'm making that a word lol
Then we had a day we were DEEP. Everyone on the forum was on at the same time. East coast and west coast dudes. So when we started a match, it ended up breaking our team up on opposing sides. Remember, this was back when it was 12 v 12
So there ended up being about 7/8 OSers on the opposing side. Not only that, but the map ended up being the Port map. Can't remember the name. Just remember it had a bunch of shipping containers on a point...stacked on top of each other in all different ways. It was basically a maze with multiple angles and levels to attack from.
... perfect for some tag taking...[emoji48]
I just remember running throughout that whole match like a headless chicken man. I'm talking NONSTOP sprinting trying to avoid getting de-tagged while trying to rack up as many of my brethrens tags as possible [emoji1787]
Best part about it was everyone was in the same party despite being on opposing sides. So the whole match (which actually might have been team deathmatch now that I'm thinking about it) there was a steady flow of "Damnit! Magic got my tags!"
The best was where I got someone, and I as the "predator" ([emoji41]), knew who my victim was... meanwhile on the other end there'd be this slight pause as they were being knifed before they realized it was me..
"Oh please no.....***Knife animation...Killcam***......NO! F***en Magic got me man!"
Haven't forgotten about that match. Got about 6 new tags that day [emoji1787]Last edited by TMagic; 09-22-2021, 09:37 PM.Comment

It was definitely one of the most fun times with OSers for sure.Last edited by kt-od; 09-23-2021, 12:53 PM.Comment

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
The fact this game doesn't have BR is extremely disappointing - look at the success of the BR's - this game will be a fresh take for a new audience; however, I think BR is the future and it's a big missCurrently playing on PS5 & XBOX SERIES X:
- EA Sports College Football 25 - PS5
- MLB The Show 24 - PS5
- The Elder Scrolls V: SKYRIM - XBOX SERIES X

BF is best when played and designed as a sandbox, looks like DICE gets that with BF Portal and other ideas in BF2042.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
Firestorm flopped heavily. As for the future, it looks like games like Valorant and Counter Strike will remain kings of the shooter genre.
I'm not really a BR person anymore, but even even I was, BF was not the type of game I wanted to play in a BR style. I think Firestorm flopping shows that's the case for most BF/BR players as well.

Battle Royal has staying power but like everything else it's still sort of a fad of sorts - at some point, someting else will be all the rage. It's already a bit stale and it's also geared heavily towards VERY skilled and hardcore types which isn't 99% of total gamers. The player base in pubg for example is so good now that I haven't gotten a chicken dinner in like 4-5 seasons now and my k/d is getting closer to when I was a noob than seasons -8ish where I was around 1.5 - now I'm sub 1 again for the past couple of seasons.
Battlefield BR would be the same way it would be alright at first and quickly beome a sweat fest where there is zero margin of error and all fun erodes quickly.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

I agree, and as a pubg player I always wanted them to add conquest-style matches as the ballistics are so good and pacing etc, it would have been awesome.

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
I have played 3 games.
I can say it really reminds me of bf4 which is a good thing. The tech wasn't too crazy which I appreciate - although not everyone is way levelled up so idk about launch.
Compared to bf4 there is a huge facelift though - everything is also way more responsive yet there is a touch of that good 'ol stuck in the mud feel unique to BF.
The biggest issue I have so far is it's a bit glitchy. There are times where the entire world shadow mimics your looking around which is hugely distracting, also other random shadow and texture glitches. I've seen some clipping too. All of that I expect to be ironed out to some degree.
One other nitpick is that the FOV is too wide for me, you can adjust it but it's already towards the lower end by default (9) ... so I'll be having to sit closer to the TV for this one as enemies can look like tiny little ants.
Finally I found that the beta nerf'd the sniper because there is no scope, so it's hard to tell about distance encounters although I did knife someone and took their scoped rife - so I guess you can upgrade although I didn't see it yet.
Overall it will be good I think - much more feeling like updated bf4 and less like the more recent offerings. Map seemed huge and it was 128 people
also I liked the ballistics more than bf4 as bullets travel much faster (like real life) I remember at times it felt like a pea shooter in bf4. Vehicle balance seemed good too and I got killed by all classes 0 - really cool was the ability to use whatever weapon you wanted per class, so I could use a sniper with a engineer or smg with a recon - that's cool because it makes it pretty customizeable. Weapon balance was good. Sniper must be 1-shot only with headshot as I didn't kill anyone with the iron sites. DMR felt really good though, got some kills with that. Handgun felt really good, felt viable to use in the right scenario.
Going to buy.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment
