re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
EA could release this now and have all of the focus be on their game or they could have gone to E3 and had Battlefield be competing for the spotlight with 100's of other things.
Trailer was pretty good. It had many references to the BF experience that many expect. I still don't exactly understand why tornados are a major focus this release, but I'll wait and see what their plans with that is. Seems slightly over the top, but if it creates some great gameplay moments then it's worth it.

Reveal Trailer is out (nothing too valuable here, it's a hype video):
Not sure how I feel about this yet, but it is something.Comment

I wasn't expecting a futuristic BF.

To have something for people to talk about and to fuel that hype train.

Battlefield trailers are always awesome, and this one certainly did not disappoint. Probably a day one purchase for me.
I will say this, I would have expected to see more drones in a war game set 20 years into the future. I think drones will change warfare likes tanks changed land battles, or Aircraft carriers changed navel warfare. My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
I continue to play V more and more lately and I have to say that this game is actually in a pretty good place, imo. If this was the game that was launched I would have continued playing it much more than I did and I feel the reception to the game would have been significantly more positive.
I still really enjoy the changes they made to the game to make it feel more "physical" the picking up bags of ammo and health, the hands on revive animations, and so on. I really enjoy the way the soldiers talk with one another throughout the battle. I like how they did manage to slow the pace of the game down from BF1. I hope these are all changes that stick when moving to 2042.
I actually went back to try and play some BF4 last night after the trailer had me in the mood for some modern era fights, but I found myself back in BF V within 1 hour as I honestly feel at this point I like V more than 4. It doesn't hurt that I am a sucker for WWII and Vietnam era games and prefer them over the modern eras, but I still feel the root gameplay in V is better than 4, as it should be being the much newer game, but I didn't feel that way when V launched. It had its issues at launch, but EA has done a solid job fixing a lot of the problems I had with the game. TTK is in a solid place for a non-hardcore gameplay. It could be quicker still, but at that point it would basically be approaching hardcore levels if they made it any shorter, so I think it is in a good place where it is.
It has me more excited for 2042 than I otherwise would be. I feel like if they take what they learned and changed with V and continue to build in the right direction that 2042 may be the BF I enjoy the most since Bad Company 2.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

The "specialists" idea isn't a big deal to me but all classes having access to all weapons concerns me. Feels like weapons will be in/out of META very quick and will lesson weapon variety seen in gameplay.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
I think opening the guns up allows people to play the classes they want and be the roles they want. It will reduce the number of people playing medic for the guns and don't revive. Hopefully when you see a medic it'll be someone actually playing the role to, you know, be a medic.
I do worry about people being a support class and sniping from afar while never running out of ammo because they just restock themselves.
It's a bit of a risky change, but we will see what they do with it before I automatically say it's bad. I'm not a fan of the idea of it, but we'll see how they execute it.

Be prepared to see the sniper scope glare every 20 feet of the game.

Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021
Tom Henderson, pretty credible source in the industry, said the redacted game mode revealed is going to be the old BF Hub and will basically have past game maps, weapons, vehicles, etc. available to create different types combinations. Would be amazing if it is indeed true, but it sounds like a big undertaking.
I'd love to revisit some older maps and even gameplay styles. A no prone lobby on old Bad Company 2 maps with the updated engine could be something potentially amazing.
