    Re: 2022 gaming plans

I've not got around to posting in this thread in a while. Despite having a PS5 since launch I was kind of in a rut for a while with games. I've got the new PS+ and that has me wanting to try some new games out I normally wouldn't

    Playing Now
NBA 2K22 - At the 300 hour mark so will be wrapping it up in a few weeks
Stray - A nice change of pace game will finish it soon
Deathloop - Played for a bit and didn't like it, I need to try a little more

    Backlog
WWE 2K22 - I'm excited to try this out in between NBA games
Uncharted Lost Legacy - I've played once and want to a 2nd time
Ghost of Tsushima DLC - I got one side mission to go from the main game and want to play the DLC
    Roller Coaster Tycoon -
    Cyberpunk 2077 -
Spiderman Miles Morales - Want to go through the story again for the platinum

    Games Finished in 2022
Sack boy - I didn't finish it as it got tough, I got 10 hours out of it for free (7/10)
Horizon FW - Loved the game and took up a few months (9/10)
Alan Wake Remastered - First time playing it and was solid (7/10)
Deliver Us To The Moon - Never would have finished this without youtube (5/10)

PS+ games I want to try
Lawnmower Simulator - I mowed a few yards and it was odd not sure I'll go back
    Little hope dark Pictures -
    Call Of Cthulhu -
    Tokyo Jungle - PS3 game
    Bee Simulator -
Ratchet & Clank - I've only played the last 2

Want to buy / Interested In
Maneater DLC - Doesn't look like its free with ps+
Kena Bridge of spirit - Waiting for this to come available for free

    Future Purchases when they arrive
Saints Row - Prob will wait 3 months for a price drop if it reviews solid
Gotham Knights - hopefully the single player story will check out
NBA 2K23 - I'll wait a few months for a price drop and bugs to be fixed with better rosters
Lost Judgement - Enjoyed the 1st one

        Re: 2022 gaming plans

I am likely going to get Madden 23 for the PS5. Going to try and hold off for it to go on sale, but we'll see.

The upcoming Mario + Rabbids game on Switch is a must-buy for me.

I think that's about it for the rest of the year. Playing a lot of MLB 22 and I need to get back to Horizon Forbidden West and finish that up; I pretty much stopped after nearly 40 hours played as I got hooked on The Show.

        MLB The Show 25 (PS5)

          Sports games:

My goals have definitely changed here as I ended up buying MLB22 after a lot of debate. I am playing a future Cleveland franchise and enjoying it quite a bit. It is on par with MLB20 and way better than 21.

As far as sports games, I make still not buying any others. Madden and NBA 2k were disappointments to me so I am done with the new games and will go back to earlier titles.

          PC Gaming:

This was a huge category for me in 2021 but that is no longer the case. I ended up giving my son my gaming PC for his 13th birthday so I no longer own a gaming PC. So this category is on hold until further notice.

          Beat 3 games in 2022:

Horizon Forbidden West: I beat this just the other day. Definitely better than the first. At about 72 percent completion so I still have some side content to do.

          Re-beat 1 final fantasy game:

Final Fantasy 9: My favorite. I beat it for the well I don't know how many times at this point. Still the best final fantasy game in the series.

          Purchases so far:

          Horizon Forbidden West PS5
          Elden Ring PS5
          MLB 22 PS5
WWE 2k22 PS5: Just got this on sale for 25 percent off. My last was 2k19 and before that was way back around 2008 or so. Starting a universe soon but still in the process of setting everything up. Deciding if I am going to write it up or not.

          Purchases to make:

Hogwarts Legacy PS5: This looks to finally have a release window in the fall. Super stoked for this.

          Next on tap is:

Days Gone PS4 version on PS5: I had tried this game once before but stopped early on because of the whole gas tank dynamic. I didn't realize I could refill at the tower so I was running out of gas and running around trying to find gas cans. I figured I was missing something and decided to retry it and low and behold at my base, there was a way to refill your tank. Now that I know this, I am thoroughly enjoying this game. I am not very far but I enjoy the survival aspect. I am not a big zombie game fan but this one feels different with human enemies and other things mixed in.

          Still finishing:

Elden Ring PS5: I am around level 110 and enjoying this game quite a bit. It is not my first souls game but definitely the most enjoyable. I am slowly working my way through it.

          Still deciding:

Still deciding if I am going to venture back into the dynasty subforum and start a new dynasty. I have written half a dozen attempts since my last posted one but none have felt right. I may be venturing back to them to do a WWE one but I don't know yet.
Time for an update as things have definitely changed.

          Sports Games:

In the end I decided to go back to MLB 20 instead of staying with 22. There were a lot of reasons but the big one was the pull of my franchise I have in 20. This is twice now I have gone back to 20 after buying a new MLB game. My days of buying MLB the Show are behind me. This same premise goes for other sports games as well.

          PC gaming:

Here is the change. I ended up buying a gaming PC back in June. As I lost multiple months and most progress, I do not really have goals set for the category anymore. Though, with my new gaming PC being on the higher end, I have returned an old game to my lineup and have been doing some streaming of it. Though again starting fresh.

          Beat 3 games in 2022:

          Horizon Forbidden West

          Re-beat 1 final fantasy:

          Final Fantasy 9

          Purchases:

No new purchases from the above

          Planned purchases in 2022:

God of War Ragnarok (PS5): I debated this for a while as I wasn't a huge fan of God of War but this is an open world game.
Hogwarts Legacy (PS5): With a holiday 2022 release and new details leaked, this is a confirmed day 1 buy for the disc version.
Dragonflight (PC): See above about an old game coming back. Though we will see how long this lasts.

Other than these, nothing catches my eye or looks good.

          Still Progressing:

          Days Gone PS4
          Elden Ring PS5
          Ghost of Tsushima PS4 version
          Multiple PC games

          2022 Gaming Trend:

My trend for games this year is definitely different than it has been the past few years. I have been playing less and less sports games. Even MLB 20. I started the next season but haven't touched it in weeks. Since I got my PC, I have been venturing into PC gaming more. When I am on the PS5, I don't have the urge to play sports games. Maybe I have accomplished all I want to accomplish with them. I three peated with the 2025-2027 Indians. I won the Browns a super bowl. NBA 2k and NHL just aren't appealing anymore. Though I may do a new sim dynasty in 2k20 once I make some new draft classes. But that will only be if the urge to write strikes and I do a new 2k dynasty.

Honestly, PC games (MMORPG and simulation) have been my go to the last month. Honestly, I can say that my sports game purchasing days are over. Maybe the exception will be the new NCAA football game but they will need to show a lot for that to happen.

I think at this point, I will be putting down sports games for the rest of 2022 and continue to play open world, RPG, and simulation games.

I'm all in on this game, too. The era-specific presentation filters and gameplay tweaks make this a must-buy for me.

If we can set up a custom MyNBA with this kind of gameplay I will be playing this game for YEARS.

Played the 10 hour trial for about two hours or so (franchise).

Easy hard pass. I am completely done with Madden. They have moved on from dudes like me…..big time.

2K is easily my purchase this Fall. They give supreme effort to authentic gameplay and franchise…..and I am playing 2K22 again and love that game big time! I can’t wait to get my hands on 2K23 for the Jordan Legacy mode!!!

2K22 is fantastic. Much better than 21, IMO. And since I just bought it a month ago, I'm going to skip 23 and continue my "what if the Hawks didn't suck this past season" dynasty. The Jordan stuff is tempting though. Very tempting.

I'm already starting to regret my M23 pre-order and I haven't even played the game yet. A&S hates MLB 21 though and I love it, so maybe history will repeat itself with M23.

I don’t think you can cancel digital PSN orders. I could be wrong.

I’m going to give the game a chance. Looks like there are running plays for Deebo, so that will be nice at least.

Decided to grab Madden 23. Should have enough fun with it to justify the cost. NBA 2k is not my jam (pun semi-intended), FUTBall 23 is going to be a disaster unless you like Rocket League with humans (instead of cars), and NHL remains basically irrelevant to me.

MLBTS22 remains my primary game and probably will be for the next several months. I might pick up Saints Row and will keep an eye on Gotham Knights to see exactly how this game is set up (would love a chance to trial-run it). Other than that, there isn't too much in the pipeline that tickles my fancy.

Starting to do a replay of Guardians of the Galaxy and once winter settles-in, I want to fully immerse myself into Horizon: Forbidden West. Still also working through an Insanity run for the Mass Effect trilogy.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Yea Im still torn on which one to get, Ive been playing Madden trial but my god have INTs made it not fun.

With all the news coming out for 2k, I think gonna be really hard to not go that route.
