    Re: WoW OSers?

Is it really more fun soloing now than it was in the past?

Last I played was before all the expansion packs (long time I know). I was talking to a co-worker who plays WoW and he was saying that soloing is a lot more fun now, you don't feel the grind as much as I did in the past. I got to 57ish with my Rogue and at that point it was so tedious and my quests were hard and few.

He was saying that it's not too bad to level people up to 70 or 80 (though it obviously takes time, don't expect it to be easy)...Just thought I'd ask you guys and see what you think. I've been thinking of getting back into it, but only if it's fun to play when you're not doing it hours every night with a guild all the time.

Yeah, I've been playing on and off for a couple years now. I'd say leveling solo has gotten easier and from what I've heard with Cataclysm it's going to get even easier. I played hardcore for awhile but raiding got to be too much. I'm more of a casual player now only a couple hours here and there a week. Looking forward to starting a level 1 with the guild that was mentioned a couple pages back in this thread.

The new dungeon finder we've been talking about for awhile will help break it up for you. You're not tied to just your server for groups, you queue up and other players from other servers can zone in. So mix that in while you quest a little (5-15minute wait for dps to get in) and its alot more pleasant to do. If you have 2 buddies or something, you can party up with them and still queue up in the dungeon finder.

Ill tell you, that 55-58 push is still painful. I did it last month, I think its just the zones. 55 and below and everything after 58 is good though. The leveling is quickeer though than it used to be so while its painful, it goes a lot quicker these days.

I think after the zone and quest changes tomorrow it won't be as painful from 55-58. If it is, I'd recommend using the LFD tool to help speed up the process to Outlands. Just note Outlands and Northrend will be untouched when the shattering happens tomorrow.

You're right, the 55-58 grind as it stands right now is painful, but it won't be after the changes. I remember being able to not wait so I could go to Outland. In Beta, I was level 60 already before I even though about it, with a good number of quests that I could clear before leaving that gave similar or equal XP to that of Hellfire.

Being in the beta, how much did they change the starting areas and the questing in general from 1-60? I just know that they've revamped alot, I just don't know how much.

Its a drastic change, and I like it. The zones still look similar, but with nice touches showing that is has changed all over the place. The quests seem to be much more streamlined and lead you throughout the zones without you really needing to need a quest helper / carbonite addon running.

I have enjoyed my time on the PTR just looking at the new zone layouts and following the story line. Quite a few quests are poking fun at the quests they once used to give you before the shattering. Just an example is the quest to get Kroms lost amulet from all the crocs in Durotar. You usually had to kill 30-50 crocs just for 1 amulet and now the quest giver pokes fun at that saying he wants you to collect 250 croc teeth! Kinda funny way at making fun of having to kill so many, but each croc drops like 30+ teeth, so its funny.

The new LFD takes all the tediousness out of leveling. If there is a particular few levels that you struggle to get through, que up for the random and in 2 runs you will be a level or two higher. 55-58 was never an issue for me since the plaguelands can get you to 58 with ease. There are many more quests now than there used to be and you can easily find yourself out leveling the zone you are questing in even if you arent using the LFD feature.

As for starting again, I recommend a guild like the one Holic was mentioning earlier. They start up tommorow after the patch....you MUST be level 1, and its a massive re-roll guild. Time will tell how well it works out, but there will be a billion and one rerolls within the next few weeks so now is prime time to hop back in.

@Holic I think the channel to join is /join HoO when you create a toon to find the person doing the invites to the guild.

If you ever do cooking, now is the best time as you can level up from 1-300+ in less than an hour or so for about 20g at most.

The lands themselves have been changed drastically for the most part. The further you get away from the epicenter of Deathwing's emergence, the less changes to the area it seems so areas like Winterspring and Silithus won't be changed as drastically as say Azshara or The Barrens. I don't really want to ruin anything for you though, it's best to see it for yourself.

IRT quick leveling: Another thing I noticed is that you can level quite a bit just leveling Archaeology. For everything you dig up, you get a good amount of XP comparable to a quest at your current level. I must have gained at least 5 levels just from leveling Archaeology without even really thinking about it.

so tomorrow, will we get a cinematic? or do we still have to wait for cataclysm for that?

Also, the guilds that are starting, what if you want to take part, but want to run a new species? Like the next guy I want to run 0-85 is a Worgen Druid, can we make worgen tomorrow?

Tomorrow Azeroth and Eastern Kingdoms change (99% sure it'll happen tomorrow). The only thing we're waiting for Cataclysm is the ability to create Goblins/Worgens and the new 80-85 content and such.

So starting tomorrow you can create the new classes that each race will be receiving and the whole questing from 1-60 will be totally different. Unfortunately you'll be waiting til Dec. 7th to create your Worgen Druid.

OK, OK, so if I wanted to create the Human Hunter I can do that tomorrow. Hmm, might look into it, idk man, with the level cap at 85, starting 2 new characters is a huuuuge commitment. I dont even have 1 80. I have a 70 and a 64. hmmmmm, I guess if I just play to enjoy the game and enjoy the new content and not worry about leveling it should be pretty cool.
