Seriously thinking of getting the Ultimate Pack to help support the game. Wish I could play before I purchased instead of having to purchase before I play.... Anyone else playing this game? Loved Torchlight 2 and enjoyed a playthrough of Titan Quest recently as well.

It's open beta this weekend so you should be able to play before buying a packComment

Re: Marvel Heroes
Gotcha. Found it. Can't play until 7pm tonight. Nick is Valdarez if anyone wants to game together.
For those that have played. Think the Ultimate kit is worth it if you plan on playing for a year+?Last edited by Valdarez; 05-10-2013, 11:48 AM.Comment

Wait until you play the beta to buy the pack. The Ultimate Founder's pack has a ton of content, but you need to like the game, first.

Re: Marvel Heroes
Definitely will do. Not really batting an eye at the $199 as I ended up spending around $200 on Diablo collector's edition and items on RMAH. If the value's there, and it saves me time (as there are so many games which greatly limits my time for each one), I honestly don't mind paying the $$$.Comment

Re: Marvel Heroes
So I've been playing for a bit now (couple of hours) and the game feels pretty buggy for a game that's about to launch. Stuck character animations, drops that can't be picked up, enemies that are frozen in midair out of nowhere, and sound just got stuck on me forcing me to kill/restart the game.
Any word on a patch for the items listed above?
Enjoy the game, but can't see spending $199. Probably not a game I'd spend a year+ playing. Maybe a month or two, all depending on how much and how dynamic the new content is after the release of the game.Comment

Re: Marvel Heroes
Ughhh... 1 word for this game.
LAGFEST
Game is about 6 months away from being ready to launch. Felt more like an alpha test than a beta. So many problems thus far...

Re: Marvel Heroes
Well, I spent an hour or so in game and it was enough to know that this isn't the game for me. I'll skip any bug complaints for now since it is a beta and just talk about my personal problems with the game.
If it was single player, or co-op like Ultimate Alliance games, I wouldn't have an issue playing as the heroes. The first time I saw multiple Thors, Hulks and Iron Men running around at the same time though, I just shook my head. That really irked the hell out of me and completely killed any immersion I could have hoped for. The idea of killing a boss with 4 Punishers does nothing for me.
The lack of cosmetic custimization ties into this. The armor I picked up didn't change my appearance, and that was another big misstep for me. That's one of the main things I'd been looking forward to from a Marvel themed rpg and it's still missing. Considering you're playing as heroes anyway I suppose there's only so many altenative costumes. Would have preferred a character creation system where you based your character off a hero or set of heroes and let you customize your own look.
I'm not the kind of guy that minds the old tried and true "click an npc for quest" system but this game made it seem even more boring. The voice acting is so limited. The graphics, animations, cutscenes and environments were very bland, the only thing that caught my eye was how generic everything looked. It all just looks, "blah".
Over everything though, the gameplay was just boring to me. It just wasn't any fun to play. I wasn't expecting the combat to reinvent the wheel or anything, it's your standard click to move and click to fight arpg that I still enjoy, but it just wasn't implemented in a way that felt fun to me. This doesn't have anywhere near the polish I'd expect from a game that's supposed to be releasing soon. And wow, they're asking for upwards of $200 for some editions? Yeah right. I'm going to be skipping this for sure.Last edited by trobinson97; 05-11-2013, 01:32 PM.PS: You guys are great.

Re: Marvel Heroes
You can craft or find costumes I think. Of course they want you to buy them with real money. But it's F2P so that's not so bad.
I didn't have any lag problems.
I had The Avengers movie squad to pick from at the start,I didn't know I wasn't going to be able to go back and try the others as well. Picked Iron Man but he was quickly replaced with Deadpool. When I switched back to Iron Man he had an Avengers related quest that Deadpool didn't so that was neat.
What killed the game for me was the map plus the encounter rate.
The map is just flat out terrible. There's nothing marked on it until you're close to it,including your mission target. You can't find the name of an area unless you're in it. There's no full map view, the alternate view is only a transparent expanded view. I completed the mission with The Hood and then it took over an hour, maybe even two to find the storage yard with the sidequest and then another 10 minutes to find the sidequest location. I found Rhino and took him out before that.
You can combine Breath of Fire I & II and the encounter rate wouldn't be as bad as it is here. In terms of numbers I'd say Dynasty Warriors but more dense. I seriously leveled up TWICE before getting a chance to spend the points. 10-30 guys every 2 steps or your money back! It's not even a difficulty thing (especially with Deadpool),it was easy to take them all out but incredibly annoying that I can't stop to do anything. Couldn't even get a break to toss stuff from my inventory to get the drops.
Which leads to another problem. There's no indication that what dropped is better than what you have already. You have to pick it up first to see if it's any good. Which I often didn't get to do because I was instantly being attacked again.
Also the movement is kind of awkward and it's tough to avoid some things that should be easily avoided.
If they fix that stuff they might actually have something here.Comment

Re: Marvel Heroes
Are you playing today Goh, or last night? Last night I didn't have too many problems, but today is horrible lag wise.
You can definitely find Costumes. I've already found a new Iron Man costume, and I found a rare that lets you reconstruct your points assignments, which made me feel better as I didn't know what the heck I was doing point assignment wise for Powers.
Picked Ironman as my 1st character, then bought Thor and Storm as my 2nd/3rd playable characters.
I've basically been running (as best possible) through the multiplayer areas to find doors to initiate individual gameplay where the lag isn't horrible.
Commented that the true evil behind the game is Lagstein and his evil henchmen the Dropped Packets with their ultimate goal to reach No Connection Found for all.
