I know it sounds cheesy, but isn't every day Valentine's Day if you really dig your girl?

To all of those who buy flowers, card and candy for Valentines Day, she might like it but she tells her friends different. You gotta do stuff for your girl that her friends would get jealous over.

Flowers die, candy is ate and boo-boo'd out and cards get lost or used as cup coasters. Buy gifts that they can keep and remember, not disposable or biodegradable.

And for Gillateen, what was it your girls birthday too? Thats alot of stuff when you could of got away with a simple card. I hope when you say you got nothing in return, you mean you got lots of hot sex.

Sex is nothing, I can get that anytime. I dont buy **** that my girl can lose or cant use. Im the playa that makes you either step up or have your girl step off. Yall keep buyin them cards and candy and thinking that everything is gravy, she is hating you for being such a boring, typical man. Women love to show off to other women.

Imagine your girl going to wirk and tellin her friends what you got her.

"Girl, he got me the same ol ****, flowers, card and candy."

Then you go and pick her up from work, all her friends look at you like the cheap bastard you are.

My girl goes to work and says what she received, whenever I meet someone from her job or friends, they are secretly throwing the kitty at me.

Why?

Cuz I know what women want, they want to be special not treated like everyone else.

Once you've been with your girl for sometime, you know how far you have to go to please her. Sometimes a simple card makes her feel appreciated and there is no need to shower her with gifts when she may not even be into all that. My girl is simple to please. If I give her to much, which I've done before, she feels that I'm tryna hide something or cover something up. Females are supicious like that at times. And if you're buying all those gifts to make your gf's friends jealous, to me that sounds like you're tryna impress your gf's freinds.

BTW, Gil, its not about how much loot you spend on the day, its about how thoughtfull you were. I agree that flowers and candy did'nt require any thought but if you get something thats your girls favorite, its just as good as buying 200 bucks worth of stuff.

It's all situational. This was my girl's first real valentine's day so I wanted to make it special. She specifically mentioned never getting flowers so that was a given. The rest I did was b/c I wanted to do it for her....not to impress her friends, parents, etc.

Bottomline is you know your girl/wife and what makes her feel special.

And for those that say that Valentine's is a commercialized holiday, you're correct. But so is the Superbowl. You can call the Superbowl the male Valentine's Day.

well took the lady to dinner (TGI Fridays - every place was an hr wait yesterday).. i sent her a dosen roses, & got a $50 Gamestop cert & a Stewie bobblehead doll.. it was a nice day all around..

LOL...naw I dont think so. I can care less about impressing anyone but I want my girl to feel good. Obviously you dont women, cuz if you do it doesnt matter how simple they are to please, you still gotta step your game up.

Women are fantastic creatures who fool men into thinking that everything is cool by stroking their ego and giving out twat to make that man feel like he is "in there".

Been with my woman for 8+ years, we have 4 kids. The g/f stage has been over with. So in a way, yes, impressing her friends is a good thing, cuz women love to conversate. If you aint doing **** to make it feel like she is special and different than the rest of these hoes out here, then you are nothing but a regular man only concerned only about your image. Its not like its a contest, far from that, but I believe in taking care of my women, not half assing it.

Its hard being an ex-playa...I remember when I used to buy for 3 on V-day....imagine that...LOL

I understand all about stepping your game up but it does require monetary items to do so. Thats all I'm saying. There is plenty one could do to make their girl feel special with very little money. Call me boring or whatever, I know what makes my girl tick so I dont have to go out my way to impress her. As for her friends, I could care less about em. You remind me of that commercial where that woman is checking out all her friends jewelery and the women all say their man "Went to Jareds".

As for the buying 3 gifts on V-Days, I remember days like that. Never 3 though, at the most 2 and a half. The half being the chick you dont buy nothing but simply call and tell her happy V-Day. I did'nt like juggling that much.

For Jodi, I took this big canvas.. and put pictures of us, inside jokes, and things relevant to our relationship together. I used this glossy-like paint to hold it all together, looked really good. Also, of course, got her a dozen roses and took her out to eat at Kabuki, a really nice Japanese restaurant.

For me..

I went out to my car after school, to see a note taped to my window that said.. "For the 5 months we've been together, I've learned..."

Open up my car, and there's a box inside that has a number one on it.. and says.. "We Love.." Open it up, and inside is a note that says "...to laugh" - with the Wedding Crashers DVD inside.

Go home, to find a trail of boxes on the sidewalk leading up to my front door. Box #2 said "we love..", open it up, "..to kiss" with Hersey Kisses inside. Box #3 was "cheesecake", with some great cheesecake inside. #4 was "we love.. mmm you know" - with sex coupons. #5 was "your alcoholic tendencies" with a Yeungling, my favorite beer, inside.

I get up to my front porch to find Jodi with another box, that says.. "We Love.." - "each other" - and a picture of us kissing is inside in a nice frame.

So we went out later that night to Kabuki, like I mentioned, and then "watched" Wedding Crashers when we got home.

she got me some candy and payed off fight night round 3 for me.

we also went to see a movie but i dont count that because I had 2 free AMC passes.
