You will care in a few years if you want a future in the white-collar world. When I'm reviewing resumes and cover letters, those with spelling or grammar errors head right for the circular file.

I can definitely tell how IM'ing has influenced my writing. It seems that whenever I am writing something serious like a paper for school or an email to a work associate I have to continuously stop myself from inserting "internet lingo." I wouldn't blame the hip-hop artists themselves for kids making spelling mistakes, but I would blame the culture in which we live today where poor grammar is not looked down upon. I don't know how you can blame schools for a kid's poor grammar. I'm pretty sure that schools are still teaching grammar they way they have always been. If the schools haven't changed the way they are teaching and more kids are making grammatical errors then something else must be causing them. I can vividly remember sitting around in my 4th grade class and not paying attention to the grammar lessons because I thought it was boring and stupid, and I've been terrible at grammar ever since.

I left it up there, i got called on it awhile ago and didnt notice i spelled it wrong..So i left it up there for a laugh.
