I have to agree with the "daddy's company" deal. I mean there's a huge gap in most fields between the mean and median salaries for grads in the first place.
My little case in point...upon graduating with my Civil degree with a good GPA for Mines (top third of my class) my starting salary was 33k, just below the median and well below average. My wife though, in her current job with a Mechanical Engineering degree makes 92k, more than double both median and mean...only two years removed from school (and after a years' employment plus raise).
Another thing that I can't stand about salary talk is that they never factor in benefits. My meager 33k at the time was more like 27k after health insurance, not to mention taxes. My wife on the other hand is fully compensated with a PPO health plan so the only issue with us now is the higher tax bracket.
Back on point, if you got a job at your parents' company, I hate you. Anyone who does deserves a slow, torturous death for BS'ing your way into a position without earning it and violating the whole "Equal Opportunity Employment" BS that the government trots out in regards to affirmative action and other social plans.
*EDIT: Good luck on that 4.0 quest GIGGAS. Just get out some, since the dorm rats are an odd bunch (one guy on my floor had an entire CD book of downloaded porn and fraudulent game files on burned discs...probably sending out computer viruses now). Another guy was never seen entering or leaving the bathroom for shower purposes, despite the fact that we were up till midnight at least. Probably did it around 3am when no one was around. Frightening stuff
