      Re: Gaining Weight..

Well up until I was 23ish I was only 80ish pounds. I'm 5'4 so I don't need a lot of weight but I was a stick figure. Anyways my parents got so concerned that they took me to a specialist. The guy told me that if I don't start gaining weight and eating more then i'd get osteoporosis, be severely malnoursihed, see my lifespan decrease so much that i'd be dead by age 35. He said if I didn't start eating and such that he'd stick feeding tubes up my nose, in my tummy, and all over just to get me to a respectable weight.

That scared the CRAP out of me.

Needless to say he didn't prescribe anything but said he'd like to see me in 3 months. Well what he said hit home for me as I began eating like a mad man. Now today about 4 years later i'm in the 120s range and doing pretty good.

Now keep in mind as a kid and teen I was given meds to open my appetite, body building powders etc etc. None of that stuff worked but being scared out of my wits eventually did it.

Dude, I was about 6'4", 145 when I graduated HS in 1995. Between the time I graduated HS and midway through my first semester at college, I somehow put on 30 lbs. Mostly gained it from eating Micro Malts and ice cream over the summer, and I wasn't even trying to gain weight. Before that summer I was always skinny even with a big appetite. Now I'm 6'4" 195 and according to the government I am at the high end of a healthy weight for someone with my height. I watch what I eat and stay active. You're going to be putting on weight as you get older, just make sure it's mostly muscle. Hit up the gym and just eat the right kind of foods. You'll be fine. Talk to AuburnAlumni about it.

Gain weight? Lift weights and take creatine. That's basically it. I'd also stay away from doing too much cardio as well. Once you get to the weight you want, then mix in cardio with the lifting.

I really enjoyed reading your story, thanks. I am glad you are doing better. Yeah 120 is perfect size for 5'4''. My friend is the same size and weight and he is ripped at that size. Heel, you were like a stickman. Good to see you have bulk up. I was the same in HS. I will say this though it is tuff being skinny just as bad if you were fat. I know many will disagree, but that is the truth!

Funny story, I knew a guy in high school who was like 6'2" and about 115bs when he graduated. I saw him the other day for the first time in like four years and he is 220lbs now. I asked him what his secret was, he said he has been drinkin about a six pack a day since he started college.

I have the same problem I'm 6'3 135 and eat like I'm starving. I've tried the weight lifting thing and it doesn't work. It did make me more tone but I didn't add any muscle, especially to my upper body. I guess there's nothing I can do, my dad had the exact same build as me growing up. His metabolism didn't slow up till he was around 40 or so.

Try drinking a protein shake with lunch and dinner. And put some ice cream and peanut butter in it and blend it to a milkshake! I did that for a while and I put some weight on. Or talk to your Dr. they might be able to get you something you can take. Good luck!

Just play sports, workout maybe twice a week and you can get up to 140 pounds.

I wouldn't advise 16 year olds to take that **** creatine. It's crap. Horrible for your liver and makes you look like michelin man.

There was a kid at my HS who took that...

If you want to look like a roided up P.O.S. I'd go ahead and take it.

Or if you want to look like you got each limb injected with about 5 gallons of water, take it.

There are much healthier ways to gain weight...and most of the healthier ways wont make you look like a blimp.
