I wanted to say something as well. Luckily for me I can make a post about it on my Blog tomorrow morning as I don't want to spoil the mood of today by bashing someone for making very tasteless comments.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Never Forget!!
The reality of what really happened that day sunk in deeper after watching the footage on CNN.com today. Still so sad and mind-boggling.
Take care,

Re: Never Forget!!
Now, I'm not looking for an argument, but to make 9/11 a holiday, or some type of national day of mourning wouldn't be an idea I would support. My personal beliefs come into play, but that's how it is. First, it would just be another day off. Second, it would be bastardized by commercial intrests...oh wait, I'm too late on that one. And third, I don't remember people's deaths. I have a friend who died a few years ago and when our friends commerate his death, I don't go with them. I choose to remember his life and celebrate his birthday. It's just how I do things.
Plus there are so many federal holidays that most have lost their meaning. People don't remember why the holiday was declared; they're just happy they have a day off from work and school.
Seriously, do any of you on July 4 think about the deaths of American patriots during the Revolutionary War instead of thinking about a three-day weekend? Do you think about the balls that the Founding Fathers showed to tell England -- then the most powerful nation in the world -- to f*ck off? I don't, and I doubt that many of you do, either. I should, though.
Take care,

Re: Never Forget!!
RIP to all those that died, I don't really know what else to say that's already been said, though I don't think a holiday, rememberance day or whatever is needed as I think how it is now is how it should be.
We continue on with our lives just as we did after 9/11 yet at the same time do remember those that died, but getting a day off and stopping what we have done is something I don't think would be good for several reasons.Comment

I'll take this man's opinion on the matter. He lived it and led his city through it. He showed courage, class and respect throughout. Something you have lacked in this thread.

Re: Never Forget!!
Couldn't agree more, Jiggidy. If someone needs a day off to remember what happened five years ago today, then their concern for those who died and what we lost as a nation is pretty superficial.

Re: Never Forget!!
I think 9/11 will have much deeper impact as it's going to be a multi-generational struggle. I can't say more but will tell you to check out my blog tomorrow for further details.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

The date isnt as significant as the events are. People esteem some days higher than other days at various times. Nothing has changed in time.Comment
