Re: Never Forget!!
I saw it last night for the first time... I wish I had DVR'd it. That footage where the firefighters are right there in the belly of the World Trade Center as it collapses is unbelievable... It was so gripping, I didn't even bother watching the football game.Comment

Re: Never Forget!!
How could anyone forget what happened on this day, five years ago? I won't forget the people, I won't forget anything...this was my city being attacked. This was my brothers and sisters, people just like me, being killed just so they could make a living.
I saw them fall with my own eyes...I've tried to erase it, I've tried to forget it, but it's not something that you can just shut out. I can only imagine how it was for people downtown that day.
Downtown Manhattan was a great place to work. Vibrant, full of life...it was what out of towners thought of when you told them you worked in the city. It hasn't even regained half of it's luster.
I'll never forget that day. I'll never forget going into the Pomonok Projects and sitting there with people I never met, probably would have never had a conversation with...on that day we realized we were all brothers and sisters...all equal. Rich poor, black white...we were all affected that day.
Now, I'm not looking for an argument, but to make 9/11 a holiday, or some type of national day of mourning wouldn't be an idea I would support. My personal beliefs come into play, but that's how it is. First, it would just be another day off. Second, it would be bastardized by commercial intrests...oh wait, I'm too late on that one. And third, I don't remember people's deaths. I have a friend who died a few years ago and when our friends commerate his death, I don't go with them. I choose to remember his life and celebrate his birthday. It's just how I do things.
Peace, and to everyone outside of NYC, thanks for your support.Last edited by JiggidyJames; 09-11-2006, 10:23 AM.xbl gamertag: jiggidyjames72Comment

Very, but hey if he wants to see it like that. It's on him. Let's just not get this locked up, because of someone's personal views. Re: Never Forget!!
I dont think his view of calling Jackdog's thoughts, who happens to be an American soilder who fought in combat ignorant is acceptable. Ironically it comes from someone who doesnt even live here.
I'll say keep it on topic and away from calling out politicians or this thread wont last 5 minutesComment

Re: Never Forget!!
RIP to everyone lost on this tragic day....
I must ask this question though: Is it just me, or is all the media coverage surrounding the 5th anniversary just seeming like a bit much? I guess part of it is all the conspiracy stuff, bashing/supporting government, etc...most of the media coverage isn't really on the actual event. At this point i'm almost sick of it, to tell you the truth.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Never Forget!!
This was the worst attack on American soil in history, on almost every single level. Politically, emotionally, and in lives lost.
This one day has changed everything that our country and citizens have done for the past five years. Whether you believe those changes were beneficial or harmful to the United States... that doesn't matter right now.
Let's just remember those who died needlessly in a ruthless and evil attack, and remember the family members of the deceased.Comment

Re: Never Forget!!
This should go without saying for anyone who's been here longer than a few hours, but OS is not a place to discuss politics. If you want to post in this thread as an act of rememberance for those nearly 3,000 innocent souls who lost their lives in a terrorist attack on our soil five years ago, please do so. But those who attempt to use this thread to make political statements or voice their opinions of US foreign policy need to go do so elsewhere.
In addition to being against the TOS of this site, it's pretty ****ing classless on today of all days.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
