So wrong. But believe what you want.

      Explain.

Every speeding ticket I have had, I contested with a lawyer and got it off. My friend has got I think 10+ speeding tickets, and every single one he contested with lawyer he got off.

I don't see how this isn't worth it.

I'm not going to sit here and argue with you about it. I work with car insurance, I think I know what I'm talking about.

For one thing, your friend shouldn't be driving period, if he has 10+ speeding tickets and some lawyer some how got him off each time, there's something really, really wrong there. Makes you kind of scared to drive in your area, waiting till he kills someone or himself? Obviously he's speeding at every single moment he's behind a wheel, so he either has a death wish or loves to waste money in court rooms.

I'm not trying to argue. I'm giving Spectre some advice with the experiences I have had on my own or I have seen.

But my lawyer got me my license back same day in court and didn't have to pay the ticket... all in one minute of work. His fee was $300 or something like that.

No ticket, no license gone, and no insurance problems... well worth it in my opinion.

My case was different though... the judge was an *** and in court was giving everyone the maximum penalty for everything.

Go to court without a lawyer, if you get a harsh punishment, or you feel it is too harsh, tell them you will come back with a lawyer.
To be fair, if you were doing 33 in a 20, that means you were speeding in a school zone correct?

I'd love to see your buddy's CLUE report, maybe he's not paying for these tickets in court, but I bet his insurance has taken a hit.

I really don't think it has. He has no accidents on his record. I'm sure his insurance is fairly high, because he owns a bunch of motor vehicles, but nothing extraordinary.

What I'm saying to Spectre is that if he hires a lawyer and contests the ticket, I think he will get the ticket off. Isn't that the best route?

Re: Well just got a speeding ticket....

I wouldn't bother with a lawyer as I think it's a waste of money. I've had 4-5 speeding tickets in the past that I challenged in court without the help of a lawyer or anyone else for that matter and got EVERY single ticket reduced....some were dropped completely. Anything from 84 in a 65 to doing 62 in a 35 etc... The points were erased from my record and maybe $50 or so was taken off of the charge. I was fine with paying the money, but didn't want to have the points on my record (and sent to my insurance company).

Maybe the laws are different in different states, but in PA it's just 45 minutes or so out of your life and you don't pay a penny.

Maybe its just me, but I'm not that interested in getting a ticket reduced $50. I mean think about it. If you are going in for court, you have to take (depending on locations) two-three hours off of work. I make that much in a three hour period. Since there is a chance that they might not be reduced, why not just pay the ticket, and work during the time you are supposed to appear in court? Plus, the offense is still on your driving record.

That is why I go with a lawyer, just to make SURE that I get it dropped.

Re: Well just got a speeding ticket....

Honestly Diesel, I'm pretty sure it will get reduced when I go so it's not worth paying a lawyer to do what I can do. Nothing is a guarantee though...not even a lawyer. However, I've gotten everything I've wanted when I've gone so why change? It's very easy to get them reduced or wiped clean if you talk to the judge. Maybe the same judge I've gone to every time I've had a ticket (all of them have been in the same borough) likes that I wear a suit and automatically reduces/drops it? Maybe I'm good at BSing? I don't know....however I do know I've been able to get what I want out of the appearance with no cost to me.

I'm not that concerned with the ticket being on my driving record as I am with the points being applied to my insurance record. Paying for the ticket isn't an issue so I'm more concerned with eliminating the points. State Farm has actually been great to me and hasn't raised my rates with the tickets I've received. Of course, I've had the one's that haven't been thrown out or plea bargained reduced to 5 MPH over the speed limit. I might be mistaken, but I also don't think any of these tickets have shown up on my insurance record. I know 1 was a plea bargin and I was told that wouldn't show up, 2 were dropped entirely so they won't show up and the remaining 2-3 (can't recall anymore) were reduced to 5mph over the speed limit, 0pts and a nominal fine.

As for taking off work....most of the time I don't need to as work hours are flexible and I work so often at night and on weekends that I can come and go as I please as long as I tell my manager I'm leaving for a few hours. I think I put in nearly 60 hours most weeks and only get paid for 40 (salaried) so my manager knows he owes me. If I have to take a 1/2 day, I'm still getting paid as a salaried employee. No big deal for me personally. Mileage will vary on the person and their situation.

Remember one thing..your driving record and your insurance driving record are 2 different things, completely.

Unfortunately yes... late to work and was following the flow of traffic.

Only nerds go the speed limit.

Badasses create their own speed limits.
