Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Just finished up a grueling work out, and my arms are feeling it. Added some more weight, and squeezed out a few more reps... Switched things up and started with 3 sets of 12 pulls ups.. simply because I can't do pull-ups at the end of my arm work outs simply because they are drained by then.
I can notice my arms are a bit bigger then a few months ago, and if they are not they certainly look atleast a bit bigger and have more definition in them.
How's this for dinner 2 cuts of lean pork chops, whole grain brown rice, with a salad? OS approved?Minnesota Vikings

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
I'm pretty pleased so far. My stomach has definitely flattened out and I've added more muscle every where else. I've lost about 4-5 lbs, which is probably due to diet as much as the workouts. For only three weeks into it, I'm confident the changes will be even more drastic after the next pahse and then the final phase, which keeps me motivated to keep trying.
If you go to youtube and type in "P90X results" or "P90X Transformation" you will see some amazing results from regular people. Watching those as compared to just the edited informercial pushed me over the edge to try it.
Like everyone of these programs, the diet plays just as big of roll as the actual workouts, and while I'm not following it to a T, I definitely have changed my eating habits for the better.Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
I just started p90x last monday mainly as a way to occupy time since the nba season is over.
I have so far to go but I love it, and I'm actually motivated by one of my female friends she is doin the hip hop abs routines. She calls me and lets me know that she did her routine and so then the pressure is on me to do mine when I get off work.
The abripper x was/is still killing me. I actually did it before my workout yesterday instead of at the end but felt like that was cheating, so I'm gonna go back the traditional way on fridayEricmaynor3.com

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
I just recieved the P90X in the mail yesterday and Im looking to start on Monday. I was just wondering if you guys can suggest some of the supplements that I can get over the weekend, because I figured I could just go to GNC or wally world & pick up the things I need, instead of getting to over priced P90X brands. I know that I need some Whey protein powder so I all ready purchased that. The next things I need to pick up are; recovery fomula, protein bars, strength & muscle mens formula, peak health formula, & performance formula. For the guys that have already started, did you get all of these supplements or just a few? Any help is appreciated.Comment

-Protein Powder (I'm using a 3 in 1 by EAS (from Costco) instead of just Whey, but whey is reccomended). This is what I am using:
It's only $29.99 for a 6 pound bag at Costco.
-Recovery Drink-You can pick some up at Smoothie Factory or any GNC. This is what I am using:
-Protein Bars-Again I get mine at Costco, but they are pretty close to the same as the P90X ones. http://www.nutraplanet.com/product/w....html?sel=1981
Costco sells the same brand a 18 pack for 15 bucks. 20 grams of protein per bar and they taste really good.
***These are the adjustable dumbbells I purchased:
http://www.sportsauthority.com/produ...entPage=family
They were on sale at Sports Authority when i got them for $259 and it came with a free weight bench as well as the weight stand. They're not as good as the bowflex ones, butI couldn't beat the price. At the time, the Bowflex 552's were $449 without a stand.
***This is the pullup bar I am using. You can get it anywhere for the same price...a few bucks cheaper on ebay.

I also purchased some cheap push up bars, which you don't need, but help you get a little deeper in your pull ups. The ones I have are made of plastic and were like $10-$15.
Also, get a yoga mat. My hands slip and slide around without when doing yoga.Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Question for those doing the P90X...
For the Ab Ripper portion of the workout, do you need any equipment. I'm not really interested in doing the whole P90X, but with the good reviews that the Ab Ripper is getting, I would like to use it for the ab portion of my workouts. But I don't have any resistant bands so I'm' just wondering if I need to pick some up before trying this out...Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II

Vets II | Washington Redskins(13-6) | Last Game: L 37-34 OT @ ATL (NFC Conference Championship)

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
I kind of have a some what complex question. The answers might be lying around on some health/fitness sites, but when I've tried researching it.. I've encountered conflicting answers.
I'm wondering how some people can consume so many calories (I'm talking about 6,000 +)... yet still remain at a low % of body fat? Where do all those calories go? Is that only for people who are on a strict and intense body building work out regimen?
Basically is it possible to lose body fat, and gain muscle mass at the same time? I was always told you can only have it one way or the other... That's why people go through bulking phases where they add weight by increasing their caloric intake; and then cutting phases where they decrease their caloric intake, but then comes the question How can one lose body fat while keeping muscle tissue?
Right now I'm stuck trying to figure out what my caloric in take should be.. because I'm stuck around the 140 lb mark... not sure if I'm eating enough as it stands now for muscle growth... or if I need to eat more. For some reason I'm afraid of eating too much because I'm afraid I'll lose my abs and start to develop belly fat... but I want to develop more muscle tissue...Minnesota Vikings

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Is there any reason not to have a split that includes chest/biceps and back/triceps, as long as you don't do them on back to back days? I know back/biceps and chest/triceps is more common, and that's what I've been doing for awhile, but I just feel like I don't hit my biceps and triceps hard enough doing them at the end of my back and chest workouts, and I've been stuck on the same weights for my biceps and triceps exercises for awhile. And doing arms first really seemed to take away from my chest and back exercises.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment
