Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

I am just not gaining weight. I've been lifting and eating a lot, and I'm stronger and definitely more muscular than I was a few months ago but it's not showing on the scale.

I guess if I just continue to eat and lift a lot the weight will eventually start putting on.

Do you LOOK like you have gained size? If so why does what the scale says matter so much to you?
      Concrete evidence/videos please

I look like I've gained a little size, I just feel like my weight is really low for my height.

        6'3" and I stay between 160-165.

Unless you are talking around with your weight (arbitrary #) attached to your forehead I wouldn't put too much thought into it.

Keep doing what you have been doing. Eating right and working out. What more can you do? Don't be defined by a number that you probably won't even share with anyone.
          Concrete evidence/videos please

            Alright thanks man.

I've been eating right for a long time, but just started hitting the weights hard a few months ago.

Well give it time man. It takes a LONG TIME to build lbs upon lbs of muscle anyways. Don't worry about WEIGHT. The only thing you need to care about is your health, cardio vascular conditioning, and muscle management. When folks care of WEIGHT, it leads them to do crazy things (not all people).

Unless you box, are into MMA, or are a freestyle wrestler, there is no need to worry abuut making weight.

                Excellent advice.
Besides, before you know it, you'll be older and suddenly you'll be worrying about the scale the other way.

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

Well all of these years of working out has paid off.

Went for my first physical in years. My blood pressure is 95 over 80. My resting heart rate is 72. I'm 32 years old.

                  I'm currently at 6'2" 228 with a bodyfat of 8%.

I'm trying to get to 5% for summer. My strength is staying pretty friggin' good even though I'm dieting pretty strict.

Benched 365 for a strong 6 reps today twice. Did overhead press with 90 pound dumbbells for 8 reps. Squatting 405 for 10 strong reps and deadlifting 365 for a strong 8 reps.

Current meal situation is as follows....

Breakfast- 1 cup oatmeal with 1/2 cup of blueberries
                  6 eggs (2 yolks)

Meal #2- 2 Scoops Syntha 6 in water with an apple.

Lunch- 1 Cup Spinach salad, Raw broccoli, 1 large chicken breast cut up and added. 1 Sweet potato with cinnamon.

Homemade salad dressing- Olive Oil base with a tablespoon of spicy mustard and 1 table spoon of Apple Cider Vinegar

Meal #4- 2 scoops Syntha 6 in water with an apple (usually pre workout meal)

Dinner- 1 Cup Spinach salad, Raw broccoli, 1 large chicken breast, with homemade dressing
Plus 1 scoop of Syntha 6 in water.

                  Meal #6 (right before Bedtime)
2 scoops of Syntha 6 in 8oz of Skim Milk
1 tablespoon Peanut Butter (Smart Balance)

Damn 228 with that low % of body fat. "They" say geting down that low might not be too good of an idea.

5% is as low as a guy would want to go. I'm trying to be as beastly for the pool as possible.

Yeah that is impressive stats at that height/weight.

Hey AA what do you think of fullbody workouts rather than a usual split?

How does this look 3 x per week on my home gym?

                          Chest:
                          3 sets bench press
3 sets push ups (maybe i should swap this for dumbell bench press but it's hard to get enough weight on my dumbbells to make it worthwhile)

                          Legs:
                          3 sets squats
                          3 sets calve raises

                          Bi's:
                          3 sets dumbbell curls
                          ?

                          Tri's
3 sets tri pushdowns (my power rack has a cable thingy)
                          3 sets Overhead dumbell extensions

                          Back
                          3 sets Lat pulldown
                          3 sets deadlift

                          Shoulders
                          3 sets front lateral raises
                          ?

                          Abs

Full body work is great as long as you don't work a muscle when it's still sore.

Soreness is your body's way of telling you "I'm not finished repairing that muscle yet".

Mixing it up is the name of the game.

How much truth is there to the saying that if you're young you shouldn't lift weights because it stunts your growth? I'm in my teens and started hitting the gym about a year ago, but everyone tells me that I'm making a mistake because I'm stunting my growth.

                              I thought about stopping, but

                              a) I never knew if there was any truth to it and
                              b) I have gotten considerably stronger over the past year, so why stop?

I think it depends how young you are? There is a big difference between a 13 year old and a 16 year old. Lifting in your late teens is great because your testosterone levels are so high it's often quite easy to pack on some decent muscle while staying lean. I wouldn't suggest it if you are 13 or 14 though but it also depends on how developed you are Some 15 year olds look like fully grown men, others look like 11 year old girls so it depends.....
