Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

I'm trying to lose weight but I'm gaining it. It's not bad weight by any means, I just have a hard time suppressing my hunger. It's crazy. I can eat a good sized meal and be hungry in 1.5 hrs.

I went from 210 to about 215. I need to just stop eating so much and find food that will fill me up without a lot of calories.

        thanks man!

As for your situation? Do you eat later in the night? I've found that ever since I stopped eating after 9p.m. that the weight has stayed off a lot easier than when I was eating whenever I wanted to.

Man ever since I graduated from school I can't move myself to spend all that $ on a membership man. I miss the gym @ school. Just a walk up the street. Now if I need to work out it is SUCH an inconvenience.

Im about to just do some jail-house work outs in my house

            Jump Rope + Pushups
            Concrete evidence/videos please

There is a chain called Cardinal Fitness that is only $20 a month with a 50 membership fee. No cost to cancel either.

I know how it is. In school I went to the free gym everyday and ran 3 miles along with a weight workout. Now working, I often spend time off sitting around watching tv or something. I'd have to pay to use the student gym here at ECU anyways.

Interesting thing happened to me this morning. Come in for my weekly weigh in and I gained 4.5 pounds from the previous week?!? So I go check the tape measurer, and I hadn't put on even a half inch around my waist... so what gives? I didn't get any fatter body wise, but my weight is real up. I walked 14 miles this week which equals a pound of fat for me (10.5 incline!) so I'm not sure where this huge weight spike came from. I don't think it's all water weight as I've never heard of someone putting on 4.5 pounds of water weight so quickly.

Any thoughts? Also it can't be muscle as I don't lift weights...

Muscle weighs more then fat so if your building muscle you maybe retaining more water. Its not uncommon to gain weight during the first couple of weeks trying to lose to it.

No no, I'm not lifting weights... plus I've been losing weight for over two months now, so this one week jump was kind of confusing to me.

Will eating around 50-75g of protein a day produce any results for me? I don't have the time or money to spend doing extensive workouts or buying some of the protein powder, but I do cardio and lighter workouts with dumbells everyday. So is that enough, or do I need to figure out some other way to put on muscle.

(I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff so I figured I would ask for some advice from people that know more about it.)

Be careful with weight gain supplements because most have a lot of sugar which is not very healthy. However, I have a weight gain supplement that has very little sugar, only about 15% of the calories come from sugars. Whey protein is good though with a balanced diet. Do not take too much glutamine unless you exercise right away because it can build up in the brain and is conveted to glutamate with is very bad.

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

Alright, I'm trying to start working out and I have a few questions. I'm like 5'8 140 pounds. I'm not looking to get really big or anything, just trying to add a little bit of muscle and not look like a skinny bitch.

Right now I'm working out at home. I have a bench and some weights and dumbells, but no other machines. In about a month I can start using the gym at school, so I can do a little more.

                              Just some questions:
                              1. What are good exercises to strengthen the abs and hopefully get a 6 pack? I already have a flat stomach, now I need to get it stronger. And how often should you work out your abs and what type of sets should you do?

                              2. What are some good tricep exercises?

                              3. What is the difference between doing a regular bench press and incline or decline bench presses? And should you do both in one workout, or just mix it up in different workouts or what?

                              4. How important is working out the legs? Like I'm not playing sports anymore or anything, I'm mostly just working out for looks, and I'm not too concerned with getting huge legs. And I'm not planning on trying to get 20 inch arms or anything, I'm just trying to get a little bigger, so I'm not worried about looking really out of proportion. So do I still need to work out my lower body a lot or can I just focus on upper body?

                              Thanks.
