What's the general consensus on Dasani Naturally Flavored Water Beverage?

I can't stand regular water, so I drink Raspberry Dasani water. It tastes much better.

My personal preference is to stay away from them. However, if you must, check the sugar content. I'd stay away from it it had more than 5g per serving and, don't forget to check how many servings are in the bottle.

That's the thing with Gatorade. Maybe 14g or so per serving but, 2.5 servings per bottle! I laugh when I see people at work drinking it all day long.

If you are just starting to work I would recommend hiring a trainer for at least 6 sessions. Not just the hot piece of a** trainer at the local gym either. I would recommend talking to a few different ones. You'll probably end up working with someone who has the body type you're looking for. They'll teach you how to train properly and show you different types of exercises to do so that you're workouts don't become boring.

As for your diet, you're lucky. Being 19, you have the metabolism to break down all that sugar you eat but, if you're having problems with energy level it's because your glycemic index probably up and down all day long.

Like someone else said, eat whole grain, unprocessed foods. You also need to incorporate a lot more lean (fish, chicken) protein into your diet to gain strength and size. Also, make sure you're consuming protein right after your workouts. If you continue to eat like you are now, sure you'll gain weight and you may even put on size, but you'll be one of those that has big arms and chest, but also a gut that looks like you're pregnant.

        Good luck.

Then eat larger quantities of what has been mentioned.

          Whole grains, peanut butter, meat.

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

Ok, this has probably been asked/answered many times, but I don't feel like going through near 700 posts, so sorry in advance.

I'm over 16 1/2, and I've really got to start getting bigger. I'm 5'11'', just under 130 lbs. I'm skinny as hell and don't have much muscle or fat on me. I've got to buff up for my junior year in high school, which is when sports for me will really kick into full gear for varsity. I'm a good soccer player and was on varsity this year as a soph, and on varsity for baseball now, but I could really, really gain a lot from, well....gaining a lot of pounds.

Right now, I'd say my goal is to get around 150 or so by November (when basketball begins, when I really need it). My question is this...how do I do that?

The basketball assistant coach majors in health and knows a lot about it, and I'm going to work with him over the summer (basically a trainer), but can't right now because my baseball schedule, so I can never meet with him. I reckon I've got to start now if I want to reach my goal.

My current diet is pretty crappy. I'll drink probably a Coke or pink lemonade a day, usually a gatorade as well. Don't drink milk (stopped about a year ago) and not too much water. Hate propel and all those watered down energy drinks. I eat a lot of snacks, but LOVE fruits and more than the usual person does daily, and also love meat and eat quite a good amount of it. I'm not much of a grains guy, but I do eat them. Advice is much appreciated, and if you need to know anything else ask away.

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

Chestnut- you're 5-11 and skinny so just eat! If you like peanut butter I highly suggest just adding some of that to your diet. It's very calorie dense and tasty.

JJLinn- You don't eat enough and you eat a lot of empty calories (provide your body no nutrition...hot chocolate/powdered donuts/pepsi/toaster strudles)

You probably consume less than 2000 cals a day which isn't what you want to do if you are trying to gain weight. Personally I'm trying to lose weight and I eat around 2500/day.

Both of you need to eat more food! You're young and have high metabolisms so take that to your advantage.

Does anyone here take Glucosamine & Chondroitin?

My doc told me to try taking them for a month after my knee incident although he warned me there is no scientific proof that they do anything but roughly 2/3 of the people who take them feel better.

So I've been taking them daily for about a month and I gotta say that my knee and back (which is pretty messed up) both feel amazing. All the general soreness aches and pains of not being 18 years old anymore seem to have subsided.

I benched 225 today for the first time. I thought that was pretty good considering I've recently been cutting.

To the snacker...don't have it around...easiest way to stop that habit.

Well... stop buying snack mixes/chips and it won't be a problem.

But really, it's all about will power. I've tried going on diets before and they weren't successful because I just wasn't ready to give up the junk food. I've also gone on diets where I was able to cut out all junk food because I was determined to lose the weight.

Yup, just don't buy the chips/snacks and you won't eat them. Make sure you never go grocery shopping when you're hungry either.

My knee is doing well, I played bball for the first time in about six weeks last night and it held up well and isn't too sore this morning. Very happy about that!

Seriously it's a HUGE difference. I know my cheats/bingese come when I'm hungry and in Wal-Mart.
