Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Stretching is worthless....... Almost all injuries occur in your normal range of motion...... the idea that stetching helps muscles grow is also wrong."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Ok, this may seem like an odd question but what is a healthy number of times a day to..um..birth a brown marine?
I find that the more I try to stay to get in shape the less amount of Cleveland steamers I make. Right now I'm eating three light meals a day and doing mostly cardio. Basically my schedule I'm trying to maintain is:
Sunday - off
Monday - Perfect Pushups (it's every other day)/5 mile run
Tuesday - Plyometrics (I want to dunk bad but I'm short)
Wednesday - Perfect Pushups/5 mile run
Thursday - Plyometrics
Friday-Perfect Pushup/5 mile run
Saturday-rest
I have a couple issues though. First off I don't eat the six small meals a day thing because I'm kind of skeptical and don't know if I can maintain a pretty vigorous work out routine to balance the diet and get the max out of it. I basically eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch (usually sliced turkey or ham with lettuce and mustard), and a small portion of whatever my mom cooks for dinner. I used to eat a lot but now I probably consume half as much as I used to in a day.
I'm basically just trying to slim down a bit. Not that I'm really even fat but I'm pretty built. I'm one of those kinda naturally built guys with big traps and a big chest except that I started lifting in 8th grade which now gives me more muscle mass than most people. I just want to trim down a little and get some definition (especially stomach area, but who doesnt?). I'm about a month in or so of this workout and I'm seeing pretty good results. I think that by the end of July I'll probably have a six pack as long as I don't slip up. Once I trim down enough I'll start looking to put muscle back on.
Anyway, I've found that not eating so much and working out doesn't make me need to shoot craps as often. I was on a one, maybe two a day schedule but now it's maybe one every two days.
I watched one of the vids that DC posted about the "pooch belly" and the guy said that you should be fertilizing your toilet like 3 times a day or within 30 mins of your meal but I can only do that if I eat too much.
How often should I be colon bowlin?

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
We had a discussion about this in my nutrition class and basically were told that it doesn't matter. Some people are three times a day some people are three times a week. As long as you don't have discomfort you should be fine.Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Co-sign; everyone is different... I have seen people who could eat crap all day and not gain a pound, or even lose if they exercised. I'm am not such a person. Plus, my family history has me predisposed toward diabetes, so I have to watch my carbs. As I sit here in the office noshing on a Wendy's Chicken Caesar salad... It's not really a diet though, it's just a lifestyle adjustment... The best part, though, is I can still get down with junk food on the weekends, especially since I don't really "binge" per se... I usually will eat junk, but I'm still within my caloric range, so I still wind up ahead. Plus I take r-ALA, so it offsets any carbs I eat during those two days.Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Bulk-producing agents
* Site of Action: Small and large intestine
* Onset of Action: 12 - 72 hours
* Examples: psyllium husk (Metamucil), methylcellulose (Citrucel), polycarbophil, dietary fiber, apples
Also known as bulking agents or roughage, these include dietary fiber. Bulk-producing agents cause the stool to be bulkier and to retain more water, as well as forming an emollient gel, making it easier for peristaltic action to move it along. They should be taken with plenty of water. Bulk-producing agents have the gentlest of effects among laxatives and can be taken just for maintaining regular bowel movements.Concrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
I do shoulders more than once a week. I do triceps ever other day. I view those are "make you look better than what you really are" muscles. I am aiming to get some Rondo shoulders and some Ricky Williams (at Texas) triceps, so I really kill those two muscles
What is your typical routine?
Wednesday: Shoulders and will add triceps
Thursday: Off
Friday: Back and Bi's
Saturday: Chest and Tris
I think the problem with doing triceps every other day is that you might be pretty tired when you're doing chest. If you're able to handle it, more power to you.Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
So my summer workout is going pretty well.
Tomorrow will be 2 months since I started. So far I've put on 10 pounds. I'm feeling a lot stronger, I can lift a lot more in every exercise I've done. I don't know if I'm noticeably bigger to other people yet, but I see some improvements, especially in my chest and arms.
I've been taking noxplode before workouts lately, which has helped. I'm drinking protein shakes, and just eating a lot more. I think my diet is a lot better now just because I'm eating so much high protein food that I'm full all the time, so I never eat useless foods like chips, candy, soda, etc. anymore. Also, I've been taking a protein powder that also has creatine in for the last week, we'll see how this goes.
Only area I'm not that happy with is my abs which are still pretty flat but I don't feel or see them getting much stronger. I do crunches, reverse crunches, and oblique crunches 3 times a week. Not sure if I'm working them hard enough. I feel a burn during and after I work them, but my ab workouts are pretty short and I'm not making that much progress
