I just go like 7-10 days w/o carbs and then pretty much have a couple cheat meals. It's better to eat "clean" carbs with very little fat.

I guess I pretty much do the Anabolic Diet. Just google that.

Haha I can't find it man! I haven't had a protein bar in such a long time! But seriously my rough recipe is pretty damn close to what they really are. They're like chewy oatmeal/PB bars with a little cream cheese taste to them...also the protein powder flavor too.

It'd be nice to have seperate threads to break some of this stuff out into a little more organized order.

Maybe seperate threads for Weight Training, Cardio Training, Other Excercise Training, Nutrition-Meals & Recipes, Nutrion-Supplements, maybe an open forum and a results forum or something.

Anyone ever look into this or think it'd be a good idea?

I wonder if there are people who are interested in this thread, but get a little put off by the sheer size of it.
You could always go to bodybuilding.com ... BUT...the crowd there can be ridiculous and finding things you want is pretty difficult because the population is so huge.

I do think it would be a good idea though for OS. I'm sure most of us were athletes in our day or at least attempted to play sports and care somewhat about being in shape. It would be a good option for those interested in getting nutritional/workout/lifestyle advice.

So I can just jump into the diet and keep lifting without the carbs? Will that work out energy wise? I'll be using White Flood for some energy, but I'm not sure not having carbs 7 days will have my body ready to put some weight up before adjusting to it

I'm a fan of Optimum Nutrition. I really like their flavors and if you use milk with the shakes they taste really, really good.

If you want to get protein that could serve as a late-night sweet tooth satisfier I recommend some casein protein. It's more filling and if you blend it up with skim milk and ice it will taste very, very good.

                The chocolate is amazing!

Make sure you don't go to GNC though...find a Vitamin Shoppe! Much better prices!

Do you use a blender to mix it? I've had Optimum Nutrition before and when I tried to mix it with milk it didn't work well at all.

I'm hoping to get some casein eventually, but right now I'm a broke college student so I can't really afford to get both.

I see...yea casein is more expensive.

I use a blender and it's night and day when you do that.

Wow looks like I need to invest in a cheap blender then. I'll probably look into getting a 5lb thing of chocolate from Optimum Nutrition. It's only a $6 difference at GNC and Vitamin Shoppe, and the closest Vitamin Shoppe to me is like 20 miles away (compared to like 5 for a GNC) so I wouldn't really be saving TOO MUCH after gas.

Tip: Make sure you PROPERLY clean your blender after you use it or it will become GROSS.

Good call. I found an old blender that I didn't know I had and it was a million times better than just shaking it. It mixed better with milk than I could get it to mix with water before. The extra time it takes is well worth it.

I also invested in a GNC Gold Card. Pretty much paid $5-$6 for it after savings, and it'll pay for itself next time I get a 5lb tub. Should wind up saving $50 or so thanks to it.

The other way to go with ON that I have found is to take a scoop of whey powder, mix it with milk using a knife. Then freeze it for a few hours. After my workout, I come home, pop it out of the freezer and nuke it for like 20 seconds to soften it. Then you can eat it like ice cream with a spoon. Great after a hard workout!

Hey stewaat, do you ever have a problem of your drinks not being cold after you blend them? Seems that using the blender (or maybe it's just using milk) makes it not be very cold. Any suggestions on how to make it cool? I'd prefer not to use ice since ice and chocolate don't really mix too well.

I was thinking about maybe adding a scoop of ice cream or something next time.

You could throw in like 2 ice cubes after you blend everything up and then shake it manually to cool down the drink. That way you just somewhat add a little water but cool down the drink.
