I am curious to hear why the coaches said it was a bad regimen. What did they change yours to?Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
They didn't like isolation days like that. We always did full body stuff, but I'm sure it was just their preference especially since we had limited time in the weight room cause of all the time we'd spend on the court, watching film, in study hall (ugh!), etc."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Thanks for the info. I do not play a smart so my workout is just for overall health. I am trying to develop more muscle tone and just speed up my metabolism which is naturally slow. I know building muscle is one way of doing that.Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Alright... how about doing pushups, chinups, etc...
I worked my chest and shoulders last night, but is it still alright to do pushups like I am use to doing every day, or should I only do those on the days that I work those specific groups?
My lifting schedule looks sort of like this
Day 1-Bi's/Tri's
Day 2-Chest/Shoulders/Abs
Day 3-Bi's/Tri's
Day 4-Chest/Shoulders/Back
Day 5-Bi's/Tri's
Day 6-Full Body
Day 7-Off
do some researchLast edited by SC3BBall; 12-21-2006, 12:52 PM.Comment

Originally posted by JJLinnI've wanted to get bigger ever since I realized how sad it was that I could fit my whole hand around my bicep. I've tried eating more, drinking whey protein, and neither has worked.Hell, that beats my diet:
Morning- nothing usually
Lunch- banana muffin bar, chocolate milk, slushie, and when the lunch is good I have that along with the milk and slushie.
When I get home- chips (Doritos, Lays Salt & Vinegar, Pringles), 1-2 cans of Pepsi, sometimes more.
Dinner time- sometimes we make steak, broccoli, pasta, but most of the time I have either a toaster oven pizza, more chips, and another can or two of Pepsi.
Before bed- soda and chips
So basically, my daily diet consists of a lot of chips and 4-6 sodas a day.
thats not even alot of food if you want to put on mass, and chips and sodas? LOLComment

Re: Not to mention i'd look like a douche benching the bar next to a guy with 4 50lb

Re: Not to mention i'd look like a douche benching the bar next to a guy with 4 50lb
i use 225 on the days i do benchpress, but not for show. i do 4 sets, increasing weight and usually lowering reps, like 15 reps, then 13, then 12, then 10. then i do a 5th burnout set with 225. on a good day i can eek out 12-15 reps with 225. damn, guess i sounded like a showoff just then....j/kComment

No offense, but I said my workout was "like" that one...
Interested, but what's wrong with that workout? It came directly out of one of my Men's Health magazines... I figured it was a decent workout...Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Just bought the Bowflex SelecTech 552 dumbell set, and I love them. So easy to change the weight, and the weight is actually extremely accurate, using my digital scale.
It included a workout guide, which I completed Session 1, using the "4 step rep" today, and I have to say, my muscles are burning like crazy. For those of you who haven't heard of the 4 step rep, or watched the video showing you how to get the most out of your workout, I'd definitely recommend it.
I know the selectech are more expensive than other dumbells, but I love them for the ease of use... definitely a great christmas present to me.Twitter - WTF_OS

Age. Wait till you hit your 30's.
Aside from that AA's suggestions on protein intake. I recently read an article in M&F about gaining size and the diet they had in there was nuts. You're basically eating a full course meal every 2 hours.
I remember Arnold once saying that if you want to gain an inch on your arms you had to gain 10 lbs.
Some guys are simply hard gainers. I'm the same way. Just learn to appreciate your strengths. There's guys at my gym that would love to be lean and ripped and then there are guys that are lean and ripped who want to be heavier and bigger. The grass is always greener...Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
I still follow my old high school lifting schedule. Four days a week.
Monday-Thursday are upper body days, Tuesday-Friday are lower body. I'm pretty weak though (compared to where I want to be - trying to get to D-lineman strength) so if I feel the drive, I'll hit up the gym on Wednesday or Saturday occasionally.
