the EAS Myoplex Lite Protein Bars... I have about 1 per day... this is just the regular Protein supplement bars, not the meal replacement bar. I have them to help supplement my daily Protein intake... and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Crisp is simply amazing.

the nutritional facts are here. http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/eas/myolitebar.html

...and also what do you guys think about in taking Dextrose post-work out? I've heard some arguments for an against.. mostly that your body needs a simple Carb to restore muscle glycogen.

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

This is a great article about the truth behind "bulking up". People often go crazy and consume 5000-10000+ cals a day in an effort to gain muscle but in reality there is only so much muscle that can be possibly gained and the rest is fat. You are better off just going slightly above your daily needs (say 250-500 cals extra per day) which means the scale will rise much more slowly but you'll put on much less fat and won't need to diet (or "cut" as they say in bodybuilding circles) so hard which can sacrifice muscle as well as fat.

      From the article:
Under the best possible circumstances (perfect diet, training, supplementation, and recovery strategies) the average male body can manufacture between 0.25 and 0.5 pounds of dry muscle tissue per week. That is the amount your natural body chemistry will allow you to build. So we're talking about around one or two pounds per month. It may not sound like much, but that can add up to twelve to twenty pounds over one year of training.

Bulking up is a big mistake (I know I made it)... When I first got into bodybuilding, I did the bulk up think. I got really strong but really fat! It was hell trying to shed all that excess fat pre-contest. The best way to gain muscle is to do it slowly while keeping your body fat low.

I weighed myself at the gym last night (granted it was after 1.5 hours of yoga and 2.5 hours of basketball) but I am all the way down to 208.

I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing for someone 6'8, lol. I didn't plan on losing weight, just getting in better shape for basketball. I was 230 at the start of 09, I had no idea I even had 22 lbs to lose.

Do you know what your body fat percentage is? That's a better indicator of your overall body composition than general height and weight numbers.

              Any protein experts out there.

I have the option of buying pure whey protein vs. a premium protein, which is a blend of whey, casein and soy proteins. Both are made by EAS. One is at Costco, the other at Sam's. 6 lbs for the "Premium blend" and 5 lbs for the Whey. $30 for either one.

Which one would be most beneficial?

If it matters, I am on P90X right now.

Nothing official but I would guess between 13-15%.

That's actually pretty good and below the national average for males of around 18 percent IIRC. It may even be closer to 20 percent. I don't know what your goals are, but you probably need to get around 10 percent or perhaps a bit lower if you are trying to develop your abs.

Ok I'm ditching the EAS bars... figures I have to give up the 1 part of my lunch that tasted really good. Anyone have any healthy lunch ideas for something I can quickly pick up at Shop Rite? While I'm at work that's really the only non-fast food option I have during my work lunch break.. I usually pick up a Turkey Half Sub, with a fruit like an Apple, Banana, Orange.. but that seems really bland. Got to find some Healthy option to spice things up every now and then.

Going to have to get back on track with my fitness plan after a weekend with some questionable diet choices.

Bring your lunch instead of eating out... You will have much better choices and it will cost less as well.

That would be my number 1 choice but my work location doesn't have a refrigerator, or a place to store foods. So a lot of the foods I bring I'm afraid will spoil, or won't taste very fresh.

Ok it's that time of the year again. I'm right where I wanted to be at this point, and now all I have to do is lose the fat that's left on my lower stomach.

I need help with what I'm supposed to eat to ditch that. I'd like to still be able to eat foods that have a decent amount of protein in them as I plan on working out. I'm guessing I'm going to have to stop eating the pizza, pb&j, etc.

Would something like Quiznos & Subway be okay? I've been trying to start replacing pizza with that.

I'd stay away from all fast food from national chains. Even the relatively "healthy" choices have a LOT of sodium, which will make you look bloated. Not the best thing when you're trying to looked as toned and ripped as possible. And the "wheat" breads at places like Subway are not 100 percent whole wheat, which means they contain refined carbs. Again, not what you're looking for when trying to shed that last bit of fat.

I have to travel a fair bit with my job and don't always have a fridge handy so i carry a cooler bag with those fridge blocks of ice in it with my food/drinks. Pack it early in the morning and it keeps good all day. Could be worth a shot in your situation?
