I'm not completely sure. He made a point to say that he basically cut off all bread, pasta's white rice/potatoes. I think he still ate veggies and fruit though. But again, I'm not 100% positive about this.

I am a Police Officer and currently have a transfer in to go to midnights which will put me on the 2030-0630hrs shift. Can anyone suggest a good work out program? We have a boot camp work out which I was doing but being on midnights now that impossible.

I guess what I am asking is would it be better to work out at 0630 hours when I get off or come home go straight to bed and workout around 1600 hours when I get up. Which would have the most impact on my metabolism.

    Thanks for any help provided.
I think it all depends on how your body feels. If you still have energy after your shift then get it out of the way.
But if you're very fatigued you might feel better after you've had some sleep.

What are you schedules like? Are you 4-on, 4-off? Or do you have a modified 5-4 split with an 8 hour shift every month?

I know a cop and this person said they like to workout during their lunch break on the job. But because of time constraints they needed to choose something that was quicker. So that's why they chose HST. And then on their off days, they would run to get their cardio in.
This might work for you too. But you'd obviously be a better judge as you live that schedule.
I've never had to ever endure any real kind of shift work, but I know after my kids were born, I switched from working out after work to going in the early mornings so I had more time with the family. But working out at 5am is rough. I don't think I ever had a workout where I felt even close to 100%. But it was a sacrifice I wanted to make.

I am 4 on 4 off 10 hour shifts. I do not have access to do it during lunch because we do not have set lunch breaks. It is kind of eat when you can. But thanks for the advise, I guess your right I should just try it both ways.

Semi on-topic but I've been taking glucosamine & chontroitin the last year and a half for my shot knees. The doc said there was no real proof it does anything other than being an anti-inflammatory. I finished a bottle of it two weeks ago and decided not to get another bottle - as the Gov of Cali would say, big mistake. My knees are absolutely killing me and I'm not doing anymore exericse/workload than I typically do. I need to get another bottle of that stuff ASAP.

          Yeah.

I think it's one of those things that work for some and don't for others. That's why there's no solid proof on if it works or not.

So if it works for you, use it.

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

I've always been tall and thin and could never gain much muscle. I've decided to take it a bit more seriously and bulk up a bit, so lately I have been lifting.

Problem is, I can hardly bench press at all. I broke my collarbone a couple of years ago, and the right side of my collarbone sticks out a lot farther than the left side. Whenever I try to bench, I get a sharp pain up there and just have to stop the set. However, when I do push-ups I don't get this pain.

What are some workouts that are similar to benching? I want to see what hurts my collarbone and what doesn't.

Just do dumbell bench press rather than barbell. It's a better excersize overall imo and you can really see if you are favouring one side and work to build it up.

I know one of the big questions people always ask is "how much can you bench" but tradition bench press isn't even needed to get a decent chest workout.

              Hope that helps....

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

Being a ECA(ephedrine caffiene asprin) junkie before the ban a few years back, its hasnt been the same drinking tons of coffee and energy drinks.

I recently found Bronk-aid during my last head cold, its 25mg of ephedra sulfate, which is the perfect dosage for a ECA stack.

Then i go online and find out bodybuilders have been using bronkaid as a replacement since the ban.

So 1 bronkaid 25mg of ephedra + 1 nodose 200mgs of caffiene + 1 80 mg baby asprin = equals energy & and the end to hunger cravings.

Dont be stupid with any stimulants.Dont double dosages and always drink plenty of water.

I always heard good things about ephedrine from a few friends who had used it when cutting fat. It's been banned here in Australia for as long as i can remember so i couldn't be bothered trying to get some imported / confiscated etc.

I just use a sugar free red bull or No Xplode if i really need an energy boost.

Has anyone tried out that Animal Test? I am currently taking Whey, N.O Loaded, and Muscle Milk. But I really want to take it to the next level and some of my friends have told me to try Animal Test. From what I hear it is a good product but I am still very indecisive about it, I really haven't found any good sites on the side effects it might cause.

Whats in it? Pretty much anything that is a Raises testorone levels naturally is a waste of money. Just go buy ZMA, Tribulus, and a Centrum multivitamin.

I only take NO Explode because it jacks me up.

Honestly, after being an avid weightlifter for close to 15 years, at age 32, I have to have a stimulant before I work out to get me motivated enough to go as hard as I expect myself to.

The only other supplements I live by are Protein powder, a high quality multi vitamin/multi mineral, and Omega fats. That's it. 90% of the stuff you see in GNC or your local health food store is pure crap.

I tried No Explode and for some reason it didn't get me too jacked up. I was suprised because I don't drink caffine other than a small cup of coffee in the morning.

They have toned down the formula in NO Explode big time over the past few years. It started with 500-600 milligrams of caffeine and now its under 200.
