Mos def, my gf needed to run to Stop & Shop last Sunday evening to pick up a few small things and I had just gotten done jogging and decided to go for a ride with her. I picked up a Twix bar and some gummy worms because I was starving at the time. An hour later I had a stomach ache and was kicking myself while my gf was sitting there telling me, "I told you not to buy 'em!"

Do you guys have any other advise for gaining weight? I've been eating between 3000-3500 calories a day for the past month or two and I've gained two pounds. I've stopped running, tried throwing some junk food in occationally, etc. and nothing has been working too well for me.

Thanks for the advice, but is there something that I can eat to "replace" that? Sometimes, I need that carbohydrate goodness.

2 lbs in a month is fine. It does not happen overnight. Once you understand this, you will be alright!

          Oatmeal?

Chips and stuff like that are empty carbs...even pretzels.

Pretzels are good carbs, infact NFL trainers have pretzels on the sidelines rather then oranges and bananas because the sodium helps beat dehydration better then potassium.

Alright thanks for the advice, but is there any way to help speed it up a little? For my size I should weight about 20 more lbs than I do so it's not like I don't have weight to gain.

When you take protein supplements should you take them on days where you don't work out or only do cardio too, or just on days you lift?

I think it's still beneficial to use the protein supplements on off days because your muscles are building back up and the protein will help the process.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, though.

                      That's what I thought too.

Also, I'm not looking to lose any weight or fat at all, just looking to put on size and strength. What should I do for cardio that won't slow down gaining muscle and weight?

The Nature Valley bars are amazing. Pretty much every kind I've ever tried has been good.

Yep, it's helpful to track what you eat in a week and not trying to cheat yourself into making it look like you're eating healthy. Looking at what you eat and making some changes can actually amplify your efforts towards whatever your goal you're striving for (or lack of them in my case ).

Anyways, I usually log in a typical day the following foods:

                            - A bowl of 2 cups of cheerios or wheaties + granola and about 1/2 cup of milk.
                            - One of the granola toppers from Jamba Juice or the granola bowls from Juice it Up! If not I usually make my own.
                            - Probably 1 cup of rice at the most. Some days I won't even bother with rice.
                            - At least 1.5 cups of vegetables.
                            - Either a combination of two of the following in a day: one chicken breast fillet (baked or fried with olive oil with panko), a fish filet (salmon, tilapia, or catfish), or steak (about 6 oz).
                            - If available, an avocado.
                            - At least one fruit a day.
                            - Like many in this thread, a ton of water.

Whenever I get something outside of the foods I usually eat, I go for the smallest portion possible with the lightest options (Starbucks for example, a tall size with no whip cream).

On work out days, I'll drink Muscle Milk three times, once pre-workout, once post-workout, and once about an hour before I sleep (one scoop, I have since stopped following the directions because they're there only for you to quickly deplete your supply). On off days I do not use Muscle Milk.

Also, having a workout buddy really helps out. My workouts go much better when my brother is involved than when I try to do them by myself, since I lack the creativity of what exercises I should do.
