    Re: Coffee break!

Alton Brown, on his show "Good Eats," mentions that putting the coffee in the fridge is a bad idea. I'm not sure if anyone watches that show, but he's a valid source.

I need to find a good container to store my coffee. Currently, we do put it in the fridge. I have a Braun grinder that does the job, and I can say there is more flavor when you grind on the spot. I've been buying pre-ground simply because I wanted to save time.

One thing you could try for an evening cup of coffee is to add a shot of Sambuca. It adds a nice liquor taste.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

The coffee now has to travel through more coffee and less air gaps in order to make it out -good stuff.

I'll have to try that. It sounds great. As far as a coffeemaker goes, I'd recommend this model.

You can probably find it a bit cheaper at Walmart/Target etc. I like the fact that I don't have to fool with a glass carafe (my clumsy *** has broken quite a few of them) and you just have to put your cup or mug under it and push and you've got coffee. No burning yourself on a glass carafe.

Here's my storage setup-My main container is one of the heavy duty tupperware's(Martha Stewart brand) that can hold one full bag of Starbucks with about 2 inches to spare at the top. If you put the lid on right after using it, that should really keep it fresh for about a week. I have a Braun grinder too. I grind what I think I need, put it in a small tupperware, scoop out,and if any is left over, I just leave it in the smaller tupperware until next time. If you try it this way,let me know if you can taste a difference,I sure can as opposed to any other method. And about coffee pots-the one's I've had the worst luck with was the more expensive "Mr.Coffee" machines! I just went through my second one in less than a year and a half. I like one that has a timer, self cleaner(optional)and auto shut-off. I can't think of the brand name of the one I liked the most,I'll ask my wife if she remembers what it was. BTW-I've never heard of Alton Brown, but as you know,I do agree with him.

I used to use eight o'clock, and it's a good amount less expensive as Starbucks, and not bad at all. I just happen to like the taste Starbucks has.

I'm enjoying a cup right now..

My go-to is the standard-Starbucks-all over the place and it usually tastes the same. But lately, other coffee drinkers been talking about other places-Such as Mavericks,Dunkin' Donuts and such. My favorite kind of coffee is from South America, medium roast. Light is not enough flavor. Bold is,well, too bold. The natural flavor and caffeine goes to heck when over-roasted. So,where do you go for joe? BTW-My kitchen is a mini Starbucks barista-that's where i normally have it,I buy it one bag at a time, and don't grind it till it's time for Coffee break!

I should have clarified myself. I stopped buying starbucks bagged coffee in the stores. I still hit SB's drive thru 2-3 times a week. But as far as home coffee, I am hooked on eight o' clock columbian....However when I buy that I get the beans and grind it before every cup..UMMMMMMMMMMM COFFEE BREAK!!!!

I went to Target this morning to find EoC coffee-all they had was the ground version-I'll have to look around somewhere else I guess. I do want to try that though. That was the reason for starting this thread-not because I'm tired of my brand, but to try em' all. Where do you get your EoC coffee? and can you get it whole bean?
Different subject: has anyone that's into the bold Starbucks coffee try the espresso roast? that's probably my favorite of the stronger ones. I use to drink the Italian roast nonstop till I got into the medium roasts. On the specialty one's-I like Pike's Place and the Anniversary Edition. I'm always checking out the limited edition coffees. Another honorable mention-the Kenya-that is a very unique coffee and I use to keep that around for when company visits.
