Re: Red Bull bad for you?

I wish I had lower tolerance for alcohol. It takes me 12-15 beers before I even get buzzed. It'd be nice if it was like the old days when I was younger and 7 or 8 beers would lay me out. Much cheaper.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Red Bull bad for you?

Well that is the simularity between the both they take tolerance to be able to drink a ton... I never said "yeah if you never had an energy drink go ahead drink 20 you'll be fine" but if you had been drinking them a couple times per week over a long period you would be able to drink a bunch in a small time, now it wouldn't be necessarly a great idea but you would be able to do it, probally puke and feel like crap afterwards, but certainly wouldn't die.

I'd rather drink beer because drinking alot of beers makes you more manly. My original point was beer is simply not better for you, but it angered me the same people posting in the beer thread didn't bring up any beer/alcohol is bad in there while making it seem like energy drinks are the devil in here. Hope you understand what I had meant in the first placeLast edited by Briman123; 08-09-2007, 03:54 PM.18-1 hell of a season regardlessComment

Re: Red Bull bad for you?

Just stop drinking so much. My tolerance used to be insane in college (I was 6'8" 255 when I graduated) and could drink 30 beers in a night if I started right after dinner.

Now I rarely drink and I get buzzed after 4-5 beers, it's great. If you don't drink for a 2-3 months you're tolerance will obviously lower."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

That's true, but I usually drink once a week, on Fridays. I think i'm going to quit for a while at some point though, however trying that when football season is about to kick off is just wishful thinking.Just stop drinking so much. Re: Red Bull bad for you?

Ha, yeah I guess the real challenge is finding a slot where you can lay off the booze. I don't drink while watching football (I don't really like drinking during the day unless it's on the beach or at BBQ or something outside in the summer) so it's not an issue for me.

Also, if you're boozing it up while watching football I'm sure you're eating quite a bit as well, which will let you have a much higher tolerance."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Red Bull bad for you?

Well I like to drink at a leisurely pace. When my doctor asked yesterday how much I usually drink on Fridays and said 12-15 beers he was aghast. I explained though that that is over the course of from 7pm till about 3am or so. I mean that's 8 hours so that's like 1.5 beers and hour or whatever. I just can continue drinking longer than most at that pace I guess is what the issue is. He told me to cut down to 8 btw. I don't see that happening, i'm all or nothing kinda drinker.Ha, yeah I guess the real challenge is finding a slot where you can lay off the booze. Re: Red Bull bad for you?

yeah, I often drink a whole bottle of jager or vodka in a night hanging out at a friends house, and it's over the same type of span you drink. I have always had a high tolerance, and I'm only 6-1 and 212 pounds. It doesn't make you sound like so much of an alcoholic when you spread it over that long.Well I like to drink at a leisurely pace. Re: Red Bull bad for you?

When you say bottle do you mean fifth? It'd really be a bad idea to drink a whole fifth a night, if you do and you barely notice it, your tolerance is through the roof, I'd worry about your liver.yeah, I often drink a whole bottle of jager or vodka in a night hanging out at a friends house, and it's over the same type of span you drink. Re: Red Bull bad for you?

 Back to the redbull topic..

We once did a series of cardiac experiments on frog hearts in a physiology lab where we administered different drugs and looked at the effects on an EKG. One of the students went and got a redbull and administered it directly to the heart just to see if it would do anything, and the results were unexpected. The heart freaked OUT. The effects were more dramatic with redbull than any of the other drugs we tried except for the KCl or whatever we used to cause cardiac arrest.

I've probably only had one or two since, and that was over two years ago.Originally Posted by Briman123

Re: Red Bull bad for you?

yeah, a fifth. I actually moved to higher proof liquor because of it, and now drink stuff like 100 proof vodka and 95 proof rums. I don't do it as much as I did in college though, I just like to get drunk like everyone else at a party, and it turned out I could slam through a $20 bottle of jager or vodka.

But bringing this back to redbull, if I mix vodka or jager with it, I drink less. I guess it dehydrates me more rapidly or whatever.Comment

Re: Red Bull bad for you?

yeah, that's goes with what I mentioned earlier in the thread. I saw people using these in the gym and figured I'd give it a go once. I almost felt like I could have died during my regular workout. It was the first time I felt like that ever.Back to the redbull topic..

Re: Red Bull bad for you?

Alcohol has an age limit because the government doesn't want people under 21 to be intoxicated, not because its worse for you than energy drinks.Give me a break I forgot an "e"

And about the other post so putting poison in your body is good for you... Alcohol is poison, there is a reason why it has an age limit and Energy drinks don't have an age limit. I'm sure your not smarter then the FDA...

And I love beer btw but that doesn't make it good for you, it's horrible for your body but being drunk is fun.Comment
