Re: The Official Poker Thread
I played with 10 guys Saturday night. Came in third place. I'm a newbie so my veteran friends kept getting pissed that I was winning hands solely on the river. I went all in with a 3 and 5 and ended up getting a straight on the flop and the river lol.Comment

Never say that before. It is often advantageous to chop (EV wise) with 3+ people because the short stacks usually end up shortchanging themselves.Comment

Re: The Official Poker Thread
I just had a pretty bad beat. Heads up I had 180 chips and the other guy had 220. Chips were 10 cents each. Blinds 3/6. In the small blind I raise to 12. He raises to 24. I push all in. I have pocket Queens. He calls and shows A 7. I see the cards and realize I've a 3 to 1 chance to win but I just had that feeling he was gona catch the Ace. Well the Ace came on the flop and I lost. Its hard to get pissed when you know you did everything right but at the same time its pretty annoying knowing I should have won $40.Comment

Re: The Official Poker Thread
not to be a nit but that isn't 3-1. More around 70/30.
Still sucks though.Comment

Re: The Official Poker Thread
I'm pretty rusty as far as poker is concerned, I haven't played live since February. For the most part, I've been playing big freeroll tournaments on Absolute Poker. Last night I entered a freeroll with about 2,000 people and came in like 80th. I finished 10th out of 2,000 before, so I've been hell bent on trying to make the final table.Comment

Re: The Official Poker Thread
I've gotten 3rd out of 10,000 on a pokerstars freeroll. It took like 8 hours and all I got was an entry into another tournament where the final table got paid. It was a 7 card stud with 600 people and I ended up getting 7th and getting $10. It was a huge waste of time. How are the Absolute Poker ones? I turn 18 soon so I'm going to start to look into online poker. My parents wouldn't let me deposit any money til I turn 18 so I'll probably ask for like $50-100 in an account for my birthday.Comment

Re: The Official Poker Thread
Went to Atlantic City Wednesday and played in my first live Tournaments.
The first one had 90 players and the top seven got paid. With nine people left they moved everyone to the final table. I was the severe short stack and on the first hand was sitting at the big blind. I got pocket 9's and knew I had to push all in since the blinds at that point were really chipping away at my stack. Everyone folded to the SB and he called. I push all in and the SB who was a the chip leader called with a 104o. Flop showed two tens giving the SB a set to knock me out two away from the money. I really had no other choice, and with pocket nines I was more than happy to push all in.
The next tourny started about 30 mins after the first one and I bought in for that. BTW, both tournies were $65 buy ins. Anyway to make a very long story short, with 99 players in this tourny, I made it to 5th before being knocked out. I cashed, collecting $300.
I think I did awesome for my first live tournies. In fact, it was the first time I ever played poker in a casino. It was so much fun I can't wait to go back, but I was happy to end the day. I started the first tourny at 2pm and ended the second at 130am. It was a long day.Comment

Re: The Official Poker Thread
Not sure how many of you know or go through 2+2, but there is BIG news regarding absolute poker, hacking, and super accounts. I can't do as good a job as the rest of BBV, so I highly recommend this thread from 2+2. It is the third thread regarding the issue. A fourth cliffs notes version has come out but isn't as informative IMO.Comment

Re: The Official Poker Thread
I have a weird holdem swing for you guys happened last night. It was a tornament at my friends house and I had an ok stack but i wasnt chip leader, however doubling up would have made me chip leader. The blinds were at 100-200. someone bet 400 there were 2 callers i raise to 800 with KK. I get reraised all in. I start thinking about it and then i decide, well i gotta go with this hand and call, All in for 3800 in chips. flip the cards ove show my KK, I then see my opponents AA. I get up and I am saying King King. Flop comes up and it 8K2 rainbow. I am ectatic. turn comes up J I am rally happy then it happened. I dont have to tell you waht theriver card was as you already know. A. I am eliminated 4th place in the tourny.Comment

Re: The Official Poker Thread
I'd consider it with deeper stacks, but after the 800 raise you only have 15BB left. Not the time to toss kings.Comment
