Six Years Later - Never Forget

I took this from Dave last year, thought it was worth posting again. Please DO NOT turn this into a political thread for very obvious reasons.

Today is September 11, 2007. Six long hard years have passed since a national tragedy.

    Let us never forget

-Let us never forget what happened

-Let us never forget the thousands who died in each Tower, the Pentagon, and on the flight in Pennsylvania

-Let us never forget the heroes of the flight which was headed for the White House or US Capitol and the heroes who took it down before it reached those targets.

-Let us never forget being thankful that the FAA shut down flights before flights boarded by terrorists took out targets in Los Angeles and the West Coast

-Let us never forget the way we came together as a country, politics didn't matter, religion didn't matter, race, color, or creed didnt matter. The unifying factor was that we were all Americans, and whether we were in New York, Knoxville, Jackson, San Antonio, Washington D.C., Iowa, or anywhere else,we mourned together. It's crazy that it takes a national tragedy to bring us all together as one nation

-Let us never forget the person and people who are responsible for this. May they burn for an eternity in hell for what he did to this country and to others around the world.

-Let us never forget the lives of our firefighters, public officials, and others who gave their lives trying to help people out of either of the towers and the Pentagon. They answered the call of duty and it cost them their lives

-Let us never forget the U.S. serviceman who've given their lives to guarantee our freedom in both Afghanistan, Iraq, and everywhere else they've been. Whether you agree or disagree with the current political situation, the soldiers still deserve respect and admiration and above all thanks for what they've put on the line for us. Many from now back till the Revolutionary War have given their lives to guarantee us freedom, and there's no greater sacrifice.

-Let us never forget the tears of anger, tears of sadness, and tears of joy once we found out a loved one was ok, which fell on September the 11th, 2001, and let's hope those same tears never have to fall again.

-Let us Never forget this image

Thanks for reposting that for me Eli. I wrote that on the first anniversary of 9-11 to help me cope with the greatest loss we've ever seen in this country. Here's the image to NEVER FORGET

Is there a statue of that image yet? Pretty powerful if you ask me.

Re: Six Years Later - Never Forget

I wrote this on my Facebook....

        ---------------------

Six years have now passed since our new reality was created. On this day, six years ago, our freedom was attempted to be stripped from us. Because of four planes, terrorists, and thousands of deaths, we now live in a reality under a new threat that has never before existed. There's a daily reminder of September 11th, 2001, in the news, and from memories of that fateful morning. So many people died on that day, for the sole reason that they were American. American, just like you and I, trying to provide a living for their families--taking the OPPORTUNITY that our country had given them to do so.
Terrorists have attempted to take what is rightfully ours, but we have risen stronger and more fierce, because the threat is too real. Since that day, many measures have been taken to prevent another, possibly more catastropic event from taking place.

We must realize the threat, and we must be aware. People now assume that since six years have passed, it's okay to act hesitantly and react rather than act. That should not the case, and is completely unnacceptable behavior. We cannot live the way we did before, because if we forget the lessons learned from September 11th, history will repeat itself. We MUST come together and realize the true enemy. We MUST fight together, as one nation, rather than sit here and fight amongst ourselves. This is what the enemy wants, and it is simply ridiculous to validate their goals.

I feel personally attacked, offended, and hurt every day that some factions of people want to kill ME and destroy MY country, simply because I am an American.

        9/11/01. Never Again.
        God Bless America.

I can remember sitting in my homeroom class in 8th grade and watching everything unfold. It's just amazing that it's already been six years.

Yeah. I remember waking up at 6:12 AM PDT here, first thing I heard was a plane crashed into one of the towers. I went downstairs to eat and they were showing the WTC on the news. I didn't know much of the WTC at the time and shrugged it off. On my way to school (8th grade) I remember hearing about the second plane crashing on the radio. At school it's safe to say it was the topic in all my classes. I think one or two of my classes had the television on the news the whole class time. I got home and watched the replays and eventually what would become of the WTC. My family prayed soon after. Very depressing even though no one I knew was anywhere near either places of where the planes crashed.

I feel like drawing the picture up there.

I remember that day exactly how it unfolded, such a vivid memory. I don't think I could ever forget this, all day long during the different times, it'll hit me.

its funny i cant remember what i was doing on sept 10th 2001, but I vividly remember this date, writing a paper on my off day for college and seeing a popup on aim's news blip that showed up when ever you logged on to aim. First it said a plane hit the trade center, noone knew at this point it was a terrorist attack. then as i sit watching abc news. I saw the 2nd plane hit. I got this feeling in my stomach that i never felt before. It wasnt pain, but It was utter shock. I just didnt believe what i was seeing. I was an 18 year old freshman in college, all I am thinking about is where is my family. I had a cousin in New york that day. He ended up being ok. But the not knowing for a couple days was torture. This is a day that I am sure all of us will forever remember exactly what we were doing when we discovered the horrible news that forever changed this country.

I saw it live in CNN when the second plane crashed into the building. It changed me as a person and I realized the danger of Islam. There wasn't even one day since then that I didn't think about it - and that's not gonna change. And I'm not even American, though my parents were visiting the US at that time.
I'm with you guys, it's a memorial day for me too.

Wow. I didn't even realize today was 9/11 until I saw this post. How did I drive into work listening to the radio and never heard this mentioned once?

Anyhow, I'll never forget that day either. I was sitting at work when I heard a plane hit the WTC. I thought it was just a small plane. Then I heard about the second plane. That's when I realized this was serious. Next thing I know I heard 2-3 F-16's ripping past the city. Those things were loud and moving. Didn't know why, but later found out they were in pursuit of the plane that crashed in Somerset.
