I don't necessarily hate their service, but Comcast's customer service is atrocious. The worst.
I just started with DirectTV this year. First weekend I had it was the first weekend of football season and it went out a few times. I was pissed. Of course, there was a monsoon outside so I figured that was probably why. Since then it's went out 1 other time for maybe 1 or 2 minutes. I'm very happy with my decision to switch now. The only thing that annoys me is that I can't just find a movie OnDemand and play it like I could with cable. I have to wait for it to download first. However, an entire year of free NFL football every weekend more than makes up for that.

You know what really grinds my gears?

We've been throwing around switching to Verizon FiOS for a while. Our promotion price ended for Comcast in March.

I've had no problems with their actual service, which is why we keep putting off switching for a better price (and the hassle). When I lived at home we had them and never had a problem, either.

Even this was just a hiccup, but this will be the 4th time within a month that we have to call them and get things fixed. I'm not one of those people, but I think this is grounds for termination. We just had this problem fixed yesterday! What if I had to use my computer for work/school? How about the data I'm gonna be using on my phone, what if I go over my limit now because there's no wifi? I'm gonna rip them big time. Sorry CSR person, but someone's gotta hear it!

I know cable companies in general are the devil, but with a nice promotion price (about half of what we pay currently) and a possible discount through my wife's new job, it's a no-brainer to switch.

We need to do something anyway because we just got a nice TV and have to upgrade to an HD capable cable box with Comcast. Oh, and my dad just gave us his old (but still pretty new) modem so no more being lazy and renting from Comcast. Not sure how it works with Verizon but the option is there.

You can get that promotion price back if you call to cancel. I had it happen when I switched to DirecTV. I even called them before saying I am going to switch to DirecTV unless they can give me a better price. They didn't and so I set DTV up and called to actually cancel service and thats when they were willing to lower the price to what I paid initially.

The only time I had issues with DirecTV was whenever it was a subcontractor installing it. They don't give a **** and get paid per install.

Yeah I know you can play the game with them. At this point I'm just done with Comcast, though. Unless they have some deal that blows Verizon away, I'm switching.

              Eventually.

EDIT: and now they want us to pay them to have service turned back on. Are you ****ing kidding me!?!?

At least people in USA have options. In Canada, it's really 2 options and that's it. Most other options aren't available everywhere/aren't as reliable or good. The part that sucks though is that they don't have guaranteed contracts. So if they offer you a 3 year deal, after 6 months they can just randomly bump up the price, and there's nothing you can do about it(except threaten to quit, which usually scares them into lowering the price back....for 6 months or so until they bump it up,you complain, and this whole process repeats)

The entire country seems like it's owned by 2 companies and that's it.

I have Cox Cable...they're ok...don't want to switch to Century Link cause my internet will be slower (DSL)

No interest in satellite, her brother's had issues at times with his, so just not worth it.

I called Cox and got them to add Starz and lower our rate lol...added on a premium channel and got a lower rate, pretty cool. Still expensive though.

If that happens your satellite needs adjusted. In the last six years of having directv I think mine went out twice for like 20 minutes and both times it was crazy abnormal storms.
