You know what really grinds my gears?

Disagree with some of it, agree with a few things, indifferent on the others.

Respect for typing that out though.

So I'm pressing buttons, hitting the key fob, etc and can't figure it out. Finally I take my foot off the brake and boom we are good. I mean they couldn't have told me it did that?

I think I have seen a sticker on some rentals saying that. When keyless push to start was rolling out I must have put my foot on the brake when leaving the airport but then later I couldn't get it to start up and there is nothing saying put your foot on the brake.

Most of the people at the counter don't know all the options because they aren't listed or they aren't on the main screen for a car.

            Psh, that's like a Blzer-lite post.

Highlander is a great song, by the way.

My main disdain for social media is how it has altered youthhood psychology. Everyone is not only yearning for instant gratification, but they also value themselves based on the number of likes and followers, etc. When I see movies like Eighth Grade that really put this kind of thing into perspective on what these kiddos put themselves through, I just take that alongside the mobile technology they have to gain access to it 24/7, and sometimes I chalk it up as a net loss.

I understand the benefits, but I wish there were some limitations. Furthermore, I really wish there was a wait period on some tweets, like where it asks them: "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO POST THIS? IT WILL LIVE ONLINE FOREVER IF YOU DO!"

Oh definitely, that's why I mentioned it might be easier for older people like us to step back. Young people? It must be inescapable, I can't imagine growing up in an environment were social media is already dominant. Frankly, I don't think I would handle it very well.

Man as someone with horrible anxiety and generally hated most of school, I can't imagine the pressure cooker it's now. Better phones, tons of social media, etc. etc.

Oh I can of liked it when people used to mistake me for an employee at Borders all the time simply because I wore a lanyard to hold my keys :P

                      Sometimes I would help them!

Have I told how much I loved hanging out at Borders? I piece of me died when they went bankrupt.

People not recognizing you as an employee when it's a dead giveaway that you are. I used to work at Toys R Us before they shut down a few years ago and our shirts literally had a huge logo on them and I'd still be asked if I worked there.

Those were our shirts before the closure. You can't miss that big *** logo even if you tried. I work in retail now and push a giant red cart and I'll still be asked if I'm an employee. Like no, I found this outside and am pushing it for my health.

I was at San Diego State University the other day, and a family for an incoming freshman was asking me where a certain building was, then proceeded to ask me what my major was. Me, a 33-year-old, possibly being mistaken for a 20-year-old? I'll take that any day of the week!

I've accidentally worn a blue collared shirt in Best Buy before, though. Normally I can help customers with their questions if they approach me, though. Basically, I just play along with it haha.

Technology is going to be the challenge of parenthood for me. It just magnifies everything; before you were trying to impress a girl or a group of friends, now you’re competing against and being judged by your whole school, whole world. People already had trouble focusing on their own actions, now you’re feeling the pressure of being cool, keeping up, 24/7. Just like the internet at large, it has sped up interaction, communication... for better or worse.

It sounds super corny but it’s like you have to have “the talk” about social media and the internet like your parents had about sex, puberty, etc. You’re gonna do it anyway, let’s make sure you know what you’re getting yourself in to. It scares me, but letting your children grow their own wings, form their own personalities, make their own choices and learn from their own mistakes is nothing new. Just a new way of going about it. Prepare them as best you can and hope they don’t end up a meme.

I'd say people not recognizing you when you are an employee. It's literally your job to be helping customers, and if customers don't know whether you work there, they might ignore you and go straight to someone else (worst is if it's a manager) citing that they couldn't find an employee to help.

Half the time they're just stupid. If pushing a piece of equipment that literally no one else in the store is allowed to touch isn't a give away, I dont know what is.
