Totally agree with you, but I'd be having a chat with my gf/wife if she was randomly adding 8 year old exes on FB lol...It depends on the situations obviously, but I know if I started adding exes on FB I'd get the third degree lol

I can understand jealousy, insecurity and trust issues if I made a pass at her and if they been through a situation like that before.
But A simple congrats shouldn't bring that out.Horseshoes & HollyWoodComment

Definitely lol, seems like a conversation to have between the two of them. Not for him to message me, I could of been a relative for all he knew.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
When people say "ice hockey". I know there's more than 1 type of hockey, but saying ice hockey sounds kinda off to me. Not like hockey on ice is an unusual thing, or a new thing or anything like that.
To me, just sounds like the people who say "ice hockey" really don't know the sport so much. Regular hockey people obviously will just call it hockey. It'd be like people in USA/Canada referring to NFL as "American football". Just saying football,we obviously know what you mean.T-BONE.

Also, european soccer is another thing I hate hearing. I know it's soccer over here, but saying european soccer sounds so "american". Cause obviously it's not called soccer over there.Comment

But you don't think saying futbol might cause confusion?Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Even just "european football" would sound better. Like how they call NFL "american football". One of those things where depending on where you live,it'd sound weird.
People in Europe calling it "european football" sounds weird, but if people in USA/Canada did it, won't sound as strange. Same goes with "american football". If people in USA/Canada say it, sounds weird, people in europe say it, won't be as bad.
And the original point of "ice hockey". Anyone in USA/Canada who says it, it just sounds so weird/wrong. But if someone somewhere like Australia,Africa,Jamaica and stuff call it "ice hockey", it won't really sound as weird, cause field hockey is actually more popular over there.Comment

Just say it out loud to yourself for a second. Which sounds better:
I want to watch the European football match.
OR:
I want to watch the Soccer match.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Soccer is both shorter and easier to say than "European football." Anyone who follows soccer here understands the roots of the sport.

Soccer over "futbol" for the USA/Canada people, but I'd rather hear "european football" over "european soccer".Last edited by Majingir; 10-06-2015, 12:00 AM.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I'm not saying to call soccer, "european football". I mean when people refer to that sport in europe. Like if you're talking about some game in england, I'd hear people say "european soccer" when talking about BPL and stuff.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
There's an easy way to settle the debate. Soccer becomes football (or futbol if you wish) and American football becomes handegg ball.Comment
