You know what really grinds my gears?

I’m starting to take the side of the ones saying everyone is in their phone 24/7.

Last night a cousin called me to come over to my place and watch some ball games. So we are flipping through a bunch of NBA and college games and now we have settled on Orl-Houston and it’s in the final 4 minuets with Harden going off for 60. I’m ooooing and awwwing after every Harden bucket. Everytime I cheer, my cousins who has been buried in his phone looks up and asks what happened. After like the 3rd or 4th time I look over to see what he is doing in his phone and to make sure he isn’t doing anything important. But nah, he’s just scrolling Instagram. I finally had to tell him to stop asking me what happened and watch the games especially after calling me to come watch the games....

I am so ****ing sick and tired of my wife bitching at me because I play video games. Always has to make her snarky comments that it's childish and stupid. Well sorry, I'm not going to stop my hobby I've had my whole life because you think it's stupid. I can't stand it anymore with this nagging about it.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but one of my friends once brought up a quirk about me saying something along the lines of "You're going to have a tough time getting a girlfriend because of blah blah blah," to which I responded: "I mean, if I have a girlfriend, it would be because she likes me because of blah blah blah."

I get where you're coming from, man. She married you for who you are, it's not unconditional. If it's taking up time to accomplish certain responsibilities (tending to her counts, I'd think), then I understand. If it's your free time and she's doing her thing? Even taking my OS/gamer hat off I must be on your side with this one.

These days though I game less than I just talk about/browse gaming, like on here.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Haven't complained about the neighbors lately so here's a new one:

My apartment area is just two small buildings with one even smaller parking lot, between the two buildings there are only 12 marked parking spaces to share among 15 apartment units.

One guy has three vehicles; a windowless van and two identical impalas. So one guy takes up three spots himself and the other 14 units have to fight for the remaining 9 spots or park in the adjacent restaurant lot and risk towing.

He prefers to park all three of his vehicles in the first three spaces. Last night I noticed a different car showed up and parked in spot #1, and this guy must not've been happy about it because he parked his van in the one specific "no parking" spot right in front of the building.

Today I got up and saw the guy had changed the way he parked his impalas, he staggered them in the first three spaces so he could "reserve" all three spots for himself while he's gone in the van.

I don't know why this bothers me so much lol, it feels like this guy is reverting back to childhood days of "mine mine mine" about these spaces. It's just crazy to me that a grown *** man is so obsessed with having certain parking spaces for himself that he'll go to these lengths to make sure the first three spaces will always be his. One of the impalas is even parked diagonally just to take up more space so no one will take his spot

Man I would talk to the landlord about it. That crap is just wrong that he takes 3 spaces for himself. Probably even the other people are sick of his crap also. I'm sure you could get other people to side with you on it. Of course if it was me I would just go to the guy and a have a conversation with him, and I would tell him what an a**hole he is and he would probably get mad and threaten to beat me up, and I would say he can try and on and on. So maybe my way isn't the best way, talk to the landlord.

Man I hear this. I usually try not to play when my kids are awake or even my wife most of the time so I can be hang out with them. But when everyone is asleep all bets are off. I usually work at 5am so my body is just use to getting up at 4am. Recently on my days off I've been waking up at 4am and getting in a solid 2 1/2 hours of gaming time. Then my wife has the audacity to complain about it. I was like are you ****ing kidding me right now? Everybody in the house is asleep. How is this taking away time from the family? She had nothing because her complaint had no basis what so ever. She ended up backing off but still. That **** was irritating. Especially since I've cut back my gaming time considerably since I've had kids. I have 4 so basically I go days without playing and she still bitches. Frustrating man.

Complete douche bag man. People more and more have the I'm the most important person in the world complex and feel the deserve **** for no other reason then existing. I see this stuff all the time at my job. Also when driving. Someone will out their blinker on to get over. The right thing to do would be to let that person over. But more and more I see people actually speed up and not let that person over. Wtf is that? I mean why? Or how about the line of cars to turn at a light. Then you have the ******* who goes in the straight lane with no waiting and the cuts in the turn lane at the last second. Are you special? You're more important then everyone else? So you don't have to wait? ****ing *******s man.

Wow. I woke up in a grumpy mood today lol.

Haha. Your way is totally my way. This reminds me of a neighbor I had a few years ago. We totally got along for a year or so. Then I think things started going bad in his life and he'd be up all night long playing music in his garage and just being loud as ****. At the time I had two young kids and my wife was pregnant with our third. One night I'd had enough. It was like 2am. I went over, knocked on his door, and was ready to lay into him. Luckily he never answered because I found out later he had been on a cocaine binge. So me going crazy on him probably would have ended in us fighting and fighting a dude on coke is not a fun thing to do. He ended up apologizing later about it which was cool. But ya lol.

Yeah man. I have a 5 year old son and 2 year old daughter. I game sometimes when they are awake, but usually like you with waiting until everyone is in bed. I mix it up sometimes too and go to bed with her and lay down and watch some of our shows on the DVR. It doesn't matter when I play though. I always have to be told it's childish and that I should grow up and act 33. I bought a Nintendo Switch after Christmas to play with my son. I have the Switch upstairs. PS4 is in my man cave in the basement. She lost her mind when I bought the Switch. Waste of money, act your age, blah blah blah.

I just don't understand why she is like this with video games. She knew I was a gamer when we met and she knew I was a gamer when we got married. Did she just think I was going to stop forever? She acts like I spend my entire time away from work playing games which is totally not true. I tell her all the time that there are so many other worse things I could be doing besides that. I'm not out cheating, drinking or doing drugs. I'm home relaxing.

But it's ok when she is playing Two Dots on her phone or something like that. That's different though.....actually it's not. It's a game on a screen which means it's a video game.

This is honestly the one major thing about my wife that I absolutely can't stand. Other than that she is great.

Yet if I pick up my phone it's why are you always on your phone when I literally haven't touched it in hours lol. I also say the same thing about much worse things I could be doing instead of this. The hypocrisy and exaggeration is amazing to me. But other then this dumb quirk she has she's amazing and I love everything about her lol.

I guess I'm a really lucky guy, my wife doesn't care how much I play, in fact she plays too. She loves the Uncharted series, which got me into them also. The only thing she hates is when I play sports games, especially The Show, she hates baseball. I go out on Tuesday nights and play cards in a league and now she wants to do it also. She supports my hunting and fishing, which is a lot, so I'm really lucky I guess.

The only thing she hates is when I play sports games, especially The Show, she hates baseball. I go out on Tuesday nights and play cards in a league and now she wants to do it also.
