Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

When students say "There's only [insert number] minutes left," indicating they think it's a good time to stop working before the bell rings.

My inner response: "Hey, that's great. I'll make sure to remember that when I detain you after class for exactly that amount of time while you continue working after everyone else finishes and leaves... asshat."

Seriously, the work ethic of some individuals... class is for a set time for a reason. If they wanted you to stop early, they would make class that many minutes shorter.

It's one thing to say there are twenty seconds left of class, but today a student who is in a credit recovery course said there were "only ten minutes left" (when there were really thirteen minutes left) and it was too late for him to start an online quiz that they can save at any problem and proceed with the next day. Needless to say, that kept him in there until he finished... which was only two minutes after the bell.

Close, but I was referring to the posts where asterisks replace every form of punctuation; periods, apostrophes, you name it. Or sometimes they're just randomly inserted.

I'm not calling out names, but refer to the NBA Live 19 review thread if you need evidence. It's like an epidemic.

Reminds me of how promotional material starting putting periods in place of slashes or dashes for release dates, almost like there is something more epic to it... an no doubt, there sort of is. It has lost its effect after so long though. It's pretty much the epitome of every COD game and Michael Bay film trailer.

I could be way off, but it may have been Facebook that started the trend when displaying phone numbers in that format.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Kind of a cheap thing to get upset over, but my fave (sports) mug broke today. I've had it for over a decade, getting it as a Christmas present from my family, and to this day it had been my most used present ever. I just bumped into something, the handle of the mug hit it hard and completely broke off.

I've tried looking online for the exact same one but I can't find it. I have no problem replacing it if I can get the same thing, but I can't find it which really sucks. Might've been almost one of a kind. They don't make them like that anymore. Was multi-toned based on the teams colour, and the logo was a 3D texture so you could actually feel every detail in the logo. It wasn't just some generic mug with a logo printed on it.

So far I just glued the handle back together(fortunately the handle was the only thing that broke,so I just had to glue the 2 ends back to the cup) and it's sticking, but I don't even know if it'd be strong enough to hold, especially with a glass half full(or empty). I never microwaved it or put it in a dishwasher anyways so even glued back I don't have to worry about that. Just hope it holds(literally). Gotta be so careful anytime I use it(which is basically anytime I drink anything at home)

When a client sends a meeting request at 6pm on a Friday that is for 9am on Monday.

An in person meeting. At their office which is 30 minutes away...

            We didn't accept it.

              Funny related story:
I had breakfast at my dad’s this past weekend. Went to make myself a coffee and opened the cupboard for a mug. I had my hands on the Cup Crazy Flyers mug from 97 when he was like, “already got you a mug.”

I haven’t drank out of that mug in years. I reluctantly took the mug he had set out.

I cried the rest of the day.

I have the same sentiment with a hat.

I bought it back in 2014, but it’s seen rain storms, fishing trips, you name it. It’s a simple Dolphins hat, mostly white (...actually it’s more grey, now) but the center fold is aqua and it has the logo from the mid-80s on it. My mom hates it because of how “gross” it looks and bought me a new one with the new logo. Which is nice, but needless to say...

                I brought both to college.

Speaking of new vs old logo, that's a weird pet peeve of mine as a sports fan. If a team changes their logo, I do want their new merchandise IF the new logo is noticeably better than their old one, and don't like getting anything beyond that point with the old logo on it.

But people don't understand when they see all the old logo stuff on clearance, why I'd rather get one with the newer logo on it.

Once a hat is broke in you never want to replace it. I have a hat I wear only during deer season. That thing is in terrible shape but I have to have it for deer season which starts in 13 days, so it's almost time to take my old friend down again.

People who brake on an on-ramp to an interstate. Everybody else is going 65mph, why are you slowing down to 45mph to try and get on?

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Even worse is people who can move into the left lane to let you merge in but don’t.

I hate these transitional spots where people are merging at the same time as people who are trying to exit, and nobody wants to give up position. It's weird because there's a whole group of people from the left that need to go right, and people coming from the right that need to go left, and for some reason people are too stubborn to work with each other.

When you're gonna click on something, the cursor is right over the thing you're about to click on, but somehow in the split second it takes you to click, something else pops up(or more things load), causing you to click on the wrong thing.

I hate it even more when I might have the cursor hovering over something for a few seconds "just in case", and nothing happens, so I go to click and then that's when stuff happens causing me to click on the wrong thing.

Or when the page/phone is taking forever to load, there's literally nothing but blank white on the screen, and your finger brush against the screen by accident, then 2 seconds later it loads and there's an ad/link there, and via delayed reaction it decides that you meant to click whatever is there now.

Also, autocorrect shenanigans as a whole will make me want to smash my phone with an axe.
