I always take the day off on my birthday.

I told my boss it's an unrecognized company holiday.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

The company I work for now added an extra holiday day for people to take for their birthday. It's pretty nice.

Yeah where I work, we get vacation time based on years of service and your birthday off each year. If you choose to not take off on your birthday, or it falls on a weekend, then you can use that as an extra vacation day.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

My very first "real job" had that. You could either choose to take your birthday off as a holiday or you could work it and get an extra days pay on your check.

Not gonna lie, its pretty sweet.

I get 6 weeks of vacation plus my birthday. I also get days off for however many days I'm out of town on business. Example..if I visit a customer and I'm there Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and return on Thursday, I get 3 days of personal time to take off work because I spent that time away from my family. Or I can decline and get those extra days added as bonus time/overtime. I don't get overtime pay (time and a half) but I get those extra days in pay.

Now granted my travelling out of town is rare (maybe once or twice per year as I'm an Inside Sales Rep), but it is still nice that my company is so family oriented that they want to ensure that they help us make up for missed family time.

That’s really nice. 6 weeks is a lot of time, does that include sick days or do you get additional time for that (just out of curiosity)?

It includes sick time. You also have to use them or lose them, there is no rolling over nor getting them paid out.

When you order something that is kind of big, instead of the mail man getting out of the truck and putting it on your steps, they squeeze it to stuff it inside your mailbox.

I really don't care if I work on my birthday? Is that odd? We'll go out to eat (well, now usually bring something in cause eating out with a 4 1/2 year old and twin 2 year olds is cray cray), but otherwise it's not like I go get smashed or something. Maybe it's just as I get older, but my own birthday isn't really as exciting.

I quit celebrating birthdays when I was a kid. The last thing I need is another reminder I'm another year older lol

I like spending time with family on birthdays, especially as you get older and everyone gets busy.
