Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
In one instance I was real a dick as a college freshman. SDSU had a "no wheels" campus in most areas where classrooms were, but where was one place I couldn't ever be caught by campus police? Indoors. Just one older hall in particular, I would always set the board down, sit/lay on it, and push myself to ride freely to my classroom, looking like a total jackass. Professors and TA's wouldn't say or do a thing, but that doesn't mean I should have been doing it.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

That seems harmless, tbh. I don’t know, maybe I’m just an old 21 year old. I had to attend the orientation and just...I was grinding my teeth the entire time because they were being so douche-y.

Actually, you'll see that at private high schools more often than anywhere else. You wouldn't expect a high schooler to ever pay for their own tuition though and I don't know what kinds of scholarships they do there, so that's a tough one regardless.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I'm sure you meant something else when you were referring to something like "daddy's money," and I get it. I didn't feel too too much of that at SDSU myself, but I see that in many places at the same time.

That’s what I meant, actually. I don’t want to blow my horn too much, but I’m covering 2 of my 6 tuition payments, phone bill, Apple music bill, and on-campus spending money. I’m tired of the stigma that millennials are freeloaders.
Christ, classes haven’t started yet and I’m already complaining about underclassmen. Where’s the Xanax?

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I'm not one to complain about millenials, but I understand it. Being in my mid 40's I see what the complaint is. Millenials demanding $15/hour for fast food jobs. Complaining they can't go to college when that is complete BS. Everyone and any one can go to college out of high school. Being able to stay on their parents insurance until they are 26. Through school I can understand it, but beyond that, get your own.
You got to understand. 25 years ago we didn't demand more money for working at Burger King, we took our $5.15/hour and were happy with it. We didn't want other people to pay for college, we did it ourselves with no complaints. Well not me I didn't go to college. And when we were done with school we got our own insurance or had none at all.
So a lot of what older people think about this generation is brought on themselves because of the way they act. Is every millenial this way? Of course not. I don't even believe a majority of them are. I think it's a small percentage, it just seems like it's more because of social media the way it is now.
Edit: I should add this. There is a definite change in how they act now days. They are a lot more disrespectful to people, especially their parents. Manors are almost a thing of the past, like please and thank you. And they are so damn sensitive about things that are said. Millenials are always complaining about something someone said. Just look at the news, everyday someone is complaining about something that was said.Last edited by cusefan74; 08-17-2018, 08:35 PM.Comment

I think what’s changed between now and then is the importance of a degree. Back then, you could get a lot farther without one than today. My parents were talking about the cost of college and what I’m paying now for one semester, they could pay for three some twenty years ago.
I understand that with free college comes higher taxes; I can’t imagine how people live in Germany, where every college is free. It just sucks, is all, because it’s a Catch-22.

I've used it four times in my OS posting history, including once last month and also even twice in two days at one point!

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
People who think “whomst” is a real word. Other variations include “whomst’d’ve” and “whomst’ve”.
I use it ironically but even then I think to myself “I’m better than that”.
