Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I used to post in OS OT a lot and then Twitter took off and people were using it less and less. Initially I was bummed about it, but created an account in like 2011 and started seeing the benefits of it. I like it because I can follow the beat writers that I like and some of my favorite radio personalities. I can also indulge in some political stuff that I like without needing CNN, Fox, NBC, etc.
Some of the funniest stuff on the internet that I see comes from Twitter because you can tailor who and what you see to how you want it. + who doesn't want to follow a page dedicated to dogs doing cool stuff?
There's also not a real meaningful TOS so if I want to tell someone to get ****ed then that's okay too..It's definitely not for everyone, but it's also not complicated. They have actually made it more user friendly over the years.

Y’all stay mocking folks who don’t have Twitter on here, lol.
I have Twitter but I’m indifferent on it. Have barely used it in the last year. I got on there recently just to see what I was missing and it was nothing. You ain’t missing nothing, Blzer, don’t let them get to you haha

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I'm not mocking nor do I really care. Just pointing out that it's not that complicated.
Didn't Blzer make a video tutorial on how to drive a manual transmission car years ago and post it on YouTube? That's more complicated than figuring out how to read a tweet.Last edited by AUChase; 01-18-2019, 12:09 PM.Comment

I'm not mocking not having a Twitter. Frankly, I grow more and more tired of it everyday.
I'm more mocking the "disliking popular things makes me interesting" shtick. It's like 85% of this and the Unpopular Opinions thread.NFL - Vikings

You know what really grinds my gears?
I still use twitter for news and as a way to stay up on pop culture and whatnot. No longer do I actively participate on the platform. How it magnifies the cesspool that can be the internet became draining and something I no longer wanted to be apart of.
Too valuable a source of information to completely cut out of my life, though.Last edited by areobee401; 01-18-2019, 01:46 PM.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
That's one of my main problems with it. I've lost so much respect through the years for people I've admired, seeing them get into spats with random people. And people acting like they won an argument because they got more likes. It just drags everyone down.Comment

I enjoy Reddit, but it's pure entertainment. I also stay away from politics on any social media platform (and in general).

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Reddit has two advantages over Twitter to me: its organized in a way that makes it easy for me to find what I want, and people are anonymous so I don't have to worry about anyone I know making me hate them.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Had one of the most intense foot pursuits of my career last night. It only last about 3/4 of a mile, but 90% of that was full sprint. Add 45 pounds of gear and already herniated discs in my neck and it was a hell of a time.
The guy was/is 20. I've got him by nearly 15 years. He finally gassed out and started running figure-8's around some trees before I grabbed him by the head and we went hands-on. In training, we fight a padded suit officer... we call it the Red Man. Have to fight it full-on for three minutes. This fight lasted nearly that, after the sprint. Finally got him on his stomach, kept reaching in his waistband and I had to throw in some pain compliance again should he have a concealed weapon. Got him cuffed, he starts vomiting. Vomited four times before I got him into a unit. Walking back, I turned and vomited up the wings and pizza I'd just eaten right before the pursuit. Good times. I need to work out more.
Anyway, that was fun. Didn't grind my gears too much. It's what I signed up for. What did grind my gears, though, is that mom and dad find out which of our precincts he was arrested near somehow and show up to cause a scene as I'm outside smoking a cigar. About arrested dad for disorderly. I had plenty of probable cause with his behavior and being drunk. It was rough. He was a mess. Approached me like he wanted to go, so I told him to let me finish my cigar and unbuttoned my jacket and he looked at me kind of taken aback. Apparently I'd gashed my neck pretty good at some point during the pursuit and when I reached up, I came back down with a hand full of blood. He said I'd be hearing from his lawyer. I told him I figured such, as that's how the legal system works. People. I hate them all.Last edited by EUBlink; 01-20-2019, 07:04 PM.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Last week my wife started watching Tidying Up on Netflix and I watched a few episodes as well. Then we watched The Minimalist documentary. We have way too much stuff and those two inspired up to just cut back a little. We'll never be true minimalist, living in tiny houses and what not. However, we could definitely de-clutter, get rid of some old stuff we don't use, not buy as much stuff unless we really need it, etc.
We spent the majority of Saturday re-folding our clothes so they fit in our dresser better, making a donation pile for stuff we don't wear anymore, etc. Then, yesterday we went to grab breakfast and she said she started reading a book about finances, making wise decisions, saving money, etc. I'm like "wow, this is all good ***". And after we leave there we go to Home Depot to grab a couple of things that we need.
We went into Home Depot to grab three things but once I'm there I forget what the third thing is. So I said "let's just walk around for awhile and maybe I'll see something that we jog my memory". As were going aisle by aisle we walk past the refrigerator section and she see's the Samsung refrigerator that has a big touchscreen and is basically like a giant smartphone (that has apps like Spotify, you can write notes, look up recipes or anything online, etc) on your refrigerator door... and she's like "I have to have this".
I say "you're kidding, right?" but she wasn't. I say "what about only buying stuff you really need? Because there's nothing wrong with the refrigerator we have now." But she wasn't having it. Eventually, she relented but she said that she's not going to forget about the refrigerator until we have one.
My reaction on the inside during all of this:SpoilerLast edited by jeremym480; 01-21-2019, 01:06 PM.My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague
