Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

How do y'all have this much time to worry about what others are thinking about what you do in your day to day?

I like Starbucks, but I can't afford it regularly and there isn't one close by.

I like some Folgers in my refillable K-Cup and Keurig.

I like gas station coffee from the gas station by my house.

I like the community coffee pot coffee at work.

It really doesn't matter. It's just coffee and people can buy what they want with their money.

That's something about external hard drives I'm not sure about. Do they just suddenly stop working, or might you get signs of it slowly dying (so you can prepare for it/buy a new drive)? I've had a USB drive for a decade now and majority of the time I take it out without safely ejecting it. Over the years it's shown signs of dying (ironically it's suddenly started working better than it had for years, not too long after I bought a new USB in anticipation of this one dying), but it still works and files don't get corrupted(every now and then it might happen during a file transfer, but not to files already on it).

Nothing drastically important on it, but for an external hard drive, I have really important things (pics from past decade from phone/digital camera, and videos). I only use it maybe once a month if even that, but I'd hate to just try using it one day to suddenly find out I can't, or that files have become corrupt.

No idea what the general stats are for them. For my situation, this thing had worked perfectly for the last four years. No real issues with it. Then I was saving a photo to it last week, and...

I would just recommend backing up the important stuff somewhere else too, especially if you've already had problems with it.

By chance did you try taking it out of the external case? I had one crap out on me once. Took it out and put it in my PC and has continued to work flawlessly for the last 3 years. It was the connections on the external case that were starting to go and not the actual HDD.

I didn't, but that's a good thing to keep in mind in case it ever happens again.

Windows still saw it, but it saw it as a RAW drive. I'm not going to pretend to know what that means (beyond what I can Google), but I was able to recover most of the stuff I wanted to keep and then I just reformatted the drive, so I'm just gonna see what happens from here.

                      Twitter.

Does anyone here actually go on Twitter regularly? I don't even have the app installed on my phone anymore. It's either annoying politics, or tons of people live riffing a TV show or sporting event.

Like, cool job pointing out something 10 million other people noticed at the same time, and coming up with a stupid sarcastic response. Super Bowl, Grammys and Academy Awards would be the worst times to go on.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

It weirds me out that it always seems like Twitter is ahead of the live action I'm watching on TV. I'll acknowledge the slight delay, but that's the kind of fingertip action people have for that social media platform.

Even though I have a Twitter account that is never used, I still to this day do not understand how to decipher people's messages to each other. The multiple @, #, shortlinks, and responses to each other... I don't know what it is I'm reading, really. People post them on here all of the time for news stories, and I don't know who posted it, if it's a conversation with somebody else, or what.

Blzer's students: "Is it possible for Trevor Story to have hit a 500 foot home run?"

Blzer: "Absolutely not, just take the launch angle and exit velocity and do the calculations. Here I'll show you, it's easy."

Blzer's students: "Hey can you read this tweet for me?"

Blzer: "Give me some time. I have to conduct research."

I refuse to believe it's this complicated for someone your age, in your profession, and where you live. It's really not this deep or serious. If it's not for you cool, but this isn't some insane algorithm you're trying to solve to find a lost ship in the arctic circle... it's a bunch of people talking.

I would tell you that @'s work exactly like they do on Instagram, but I'm sure you're still rocking an old Polaroid Camera that spits out instant pictures. (Those are actually making kind of a come back and are expensive now).
