Luckily the weather just took a pretty bad turn for the worse so I'm hoping there isn't much of a turnout to our annual meeting tonight. Really not in the mood for a three hour meeting over a $10 increase.
So the rest of the board doesn't listen to the person who was voted on to oversee the finances. Sounds about right.

So what does an annual fee get you in a HOA?

The right to have an entity fine you for doing things on your own property.

Ours includes our garbage, recycling, grass cutting and snow plowing in the winter (it’s a private road so we are responsible) but other than that, pretty much what ITT said.

Honestly, you really only hear about the horror stories of HOAs. In their original form and theory, they are absolutely a great idea But then people get involved. People suck.

I haven't had issues with our current one, but the past one would fine for grass being long or brown way too quickly....drove me nuts.

That one we paid like 90 every 3 months and got pretty much nothing.

Our new house is "only" 240 every 3 months, but there are 2 huge pools with clubhouses, splash pads, a TON of parks in the various neighborhoods, etc. They had a "Windmill Lighting" event for the holidays with fireworks...they put on a pretty large number of events for kids.

I can't complain here on that quite yet.

When you thought your headphones were charging on the way to the gym, but the USB cable came unplugged and they die on you 5 minutes into 5am cardio.

                    What an awful experience...

                      THE WORST.

This only has to happen to you ONCE before you start keeping cheap wired earbuds in your bag just in case.
